I was testing ridiculously early - 5 days before my missed period I think, and I was totally caught off guard by the positive test at 10 PM at night.
I had wanted to do something adorable to announce it to him, but once I saw it I was incapable of being a normal human lol. I tried to "act natural" but about 30 seconds after I walked into the room he asked why I was being so weird lol so then we needed up laying in bed in shock and laughing.
Not some cute, grand announcement - but pretty on brand for us. Our engagement happened at our apartment and he timed it so I could still sit watch Grey's Anatomy that night, we are functional milestone kinda people 😂
I tested crazy early too. After 5 negatives, I counted myself out. MH had already went to work after I got a faint bfp. We work together and I had seen him super busy in the afternoon. Part of me wanted to whisper it in his ear then walk off, but I kept my restraint!! I hurried up and put together a letter board that said “Hello Dad, August 2021” once I got home. I chose those words because the letters were all jumbled and I couldn’t find anything else 😅. It had the faint bfp laying on it. He was very confused because I didn’t wrap it, I just gave it to him in the original letter board box! We’d been trying but he was still pretty shocked.
@jaxalia when I handed him the box. Then he awkwardly read the outside of the box. Probably pretty normal for us too!
I woke up earlier than him the morning I should have gotten my period. I really wasn’t expecting the test to be positive I thought I’d just be a day or so late. But when it was positive I took a spare bit of wrapping paper and wrap it up and put it in his advent calendar that I made for him this year. It took him a second to process what it was but he was excited once he got it!
When I got pregnant with DD, I'd taken an early morning test and laid it on the counter and went back to bed. DW saw it first and woke me up saying "there's two lines!". So this time around I woke her up saying "there's two lines!".
Married DW 08.2013; AI 2x; IUI 6x; IUI #7 05.2015; DD born 2.2016 ; Reciprocal IVF FET #1 on 11.18.2020
Nothing exciting here. We stopped preventing pregnancy last month so I didn't expect it really. I had been nauseous for a few days, which my husband knew. I walked out of the bathroom near our children who we didn't want to know yet and said "yep, there's a reason for the nausea" and was like, "okay cool". And that was it. He's excited, but again, the kids can't know yet, so we're pretty nonchalant about it unless they're asleep.
I'll tell the kids in a cute way though! Just probably not for a month or so because they will tell extended family we don't want to tell yet. Lol
I tested at night while DH was at work (after the kids had gone to bed). He got home and did his nighttime routine, then got into bed. I grabbed the positive test and yelled, “catch” at him. He dropped his phone to catch it. Not cute at all, but still funny. He was shocked and SUPER excited. He’s been pushing me to start trying for over a year, so he’s been VERY ready for this. I’ve been the hesitant one! 😂😂😂
@cyanope Literally an hour after DD2 was born SO was like "so when do we start trying for another?". This is the guy that took YEARS to be ready to try for our first 🤣
With our first I had a onesie and a cute card I woke him up to open before I went to work.
With our mmc in May, I had bought a card that said Oops we did it again and wrote finally on it because we had been trying for 4 years at that point.
With this one, I woke him up, whispered I was supposed to start so I tested and it was positive” he rolled over, smirked, and said “I don’t know how that’s possible” 😂
So I did nothing exciting. I said there's two lines. She then asked what that means...we have a son and had a loss in August, so I thought she would know. Holding out hope for this pregnancy even though I have had my fair share of losses (4).
I said “im pregnant again” and he got really red and ran to the bathroom to pee. Then he went to Costco and bought every single bottle of wine there. Then when he got home he got this sheer panic look because he realized I couldn’t drink it. 🤣 so we have a fully stocked wine fridge for august. You’d think this was his first rodeo by that reaction 😂
@Panaceia, DH is one of EIGHT (my poor MIL), and his mom did daycare his whole life. So, he’s been surrounded by babies/kids his whole life. He is baby OBSESSED and would have five kids if I let him. I’m like, “you’re lucky you’re getting a third out me, dude. Pump the breaks.”
Earlier on the day I got my BFP I ordered a bunch of tests from Amazon- I was going crazy questioning if I was seeing a line on my tests and decided to just order a bunch of different brands and try to make it two days until they arrived. Well, that plan didn't last and I ended up going out to buy a digital test at the store that afternoon, which confirmed I was pregnant. That evening H and I were chatting while making dinner and I casually said, "Oh, you're going to be annoyed, I accidentally wasted like $50 today on something we don't need." He was like, "Oh okay, what was it?" and I was like, "I ordered a bunch of pregnancy tests on Amazon this morning, but looks like I don't need them because I'm already pregnant." He was totally shocked (I'd told him a couple days before that I felt out this cycle and apparently he took that as being definitive) and I was cracking up!
But actually the last laugh is on me, because I've definitely gone through the majority of those tests I ordered just retesting to confirm/see the lines get darker... whoops lol.
Nothing special here. I wrote this cycle off because I accidentally used expired tests for the few days leading up to my period. When it didn’t come I realized the tests were expired and bought new ones. DH walked in on me testing before work. I guess I looked white as a ghost.
FFMC- because all the tests were very negative (including the one I took on the day my period didn’t arrive) I drank a bottle of wine the night before. Nothing like finding out your pregnant while incredibly hungover.
@surrenderdorothy I did something similar the night before I found out I was pregnant with my DD except I didn’t test- just assumed I wasn’t pregnant. Tested the best day and was very surprised
I’m a POAS-aholic who starts testing super early. I started with a box of 50 tests this month... I think I have maybe 15 left I finally got a squinter at 9dpo in the am but the next day was DH’s bday so I waited until the next evening to tell him. After he opened gifts I told him his last gift was in the oven where I had put a bun. Super cheesy I know. It took him a minute to catch on. He took it out and said “Ummmm thanks...I guess? What is this? A bun? Why? Why would you give me a bun? Is it supposed to mean something?”
We have been trying for years and this was our second round of IVF. I got my blood drawn on a Friday and we expected a call that night but it never came. Waited until Saturday and a test result popped up on my chart. I was sitting next to my husband on the couch and I was like "it's going to be negative and I can't handle seeing it. You look" so I handed the phone to him and my beta was 145. We both cried and cuddled up on the couch and then he went and got a HPT so Icould see it turn positive. He went to take the dogs out while the test developed and I grabbed a box of gifts I had ordered throughout the IVF process for him.
He woke up earlier than me and he was on a work call when I tested, and I just walked into his home office and brought him the pee stick, haha! He put them on mute to verify that I was indeed pregnant. I could never keep anything fron him long enough to plan anything (and I'm not really a planner anyway) but I do love the cute ways that other people come up with.
Re: How’d you tell your partner about your BFP?

This time i said I think I'm pregnant again 🤷🏻♀️ but we weren't sure because of the MMC last month.
I originally planned to test tomorrow after my missed period, but I got impatient and tested 3 days early. So now I know.
His birthday is tomorrow and I am waiting. Its killing me to wait, but I wanted to surprise him for it. I have little baby shoes in a box with a note.

Due to our loss history and MMCs we won't really get excited until we see a heartbeat and get past 14 weeks 😬
I'll tell the kids in a cute way though! Just probably not for a month or so because they will tell extended family we don't want to tell yet. Lol
