Re: Product Spotlight: Strollers

  • @ccmrc143 I have a travel system that that you can either snap the car seat onto, or the bassinet/seat attachment.

  • @ccmrc143 I always wanted one of those little cart things because we got a jogging stroller and it was heavy to lug around if I didn’t reeeally need it. I would have liked the cart for quick trips to the mall or something (not that anyone shops anymore 😬) There were some things I didn’t realize I’d want until later, like I somehow picked the only stroller that didn’t have a snack tray accessory, but I wouldn’t have known that until she was like a year old 🤷🏻‍♀️
  • @ccmrc143 I have seen the frames for the infant seats, but like others, feel like it’s another thing to buy. Might as well get the travel system to save money and save materials.

  • I apologize for the novel....

This is probably the most I’ve ever researched our travel system choice.

Our kids are all 5 years apart so I’ve had to get new car seats and usually new strollers each time. With our first, we just needed affordable and functional and got Graco. With our second, we tried a different affordable (chicco) and were disappointed. With our third, my husband wanted a sturdy stroller, and I went back to Graco, but got the Graco jogging stroller to go with. I hate that stroller, it’s so heavy and awkward and pinches your fingers easily. Plus it takes up a ton of space, something that I’m now running short on with so many kids. I got some sturdy umbrella strollers (Summer) to use instead of the jogger. It’s ok. I’ve had a few used strollers in between because I’ve been nannying while I raise my kids. My favorite stroller was a Peg Perego. So after looking up safety ratings, measuring the ‘trunk’ of my Highlander, and taking into account that literally all of my seats will be filled with children (I care for 2), I have decided on Peg Perego Booklet 50 travel system. The car seat is one of the safest, lightweight, and has amazing ratings. I know I love the stroller, it’s sturdy enough for soccer games and our rural roads, but narrow for when we go into the city. Plus it is compact enough that it will fit in the back of my Highlander.

If my husband doesn’t like it, he can go get a different system for his truck! 😆 but serious.

  • I was completely set to just staying with the Uppababy Cruz and babywearing whoever doesn't fit.

But after reading the comments on this thread this afternoon I did a quick check on Facebook marketplace and found a really great deal on a Vista, howbeit a 2011 model, so might switch my Cruz for a Vista. I really wanted the bassinet and hopefully this isn't a splurge I'll regret.

@alexandraseattle @asf0613 @ec1212 For those of you with uppababy strollers or car seats I just found out they have complimentary Virtual appointments. Also, if you are thinking of uppababy, but aren't sure, they can demo products virtually.

    They have 3 types:
    - Tune up gear up
    - product knowledge (techs are available to demo new products, answer car seat questions, recommend accessories to suit your family’s needs)
    - car seat check.

Going to try it out next week, the Vista I got needs a good tune-up. I highly recommend the cart seat check for peace of mind installing your seat, they are experts on the Mesa or other seats they have and it's hard to say if they will still have virtual appointments in March, April or May.

  • @littlelibelula very cool! Thx for the heads-up. One of the reasons I went w Uppababy was because a friend said they have amazing customer service, so this makes sense!
  • Does anyone have experience with the Mockingbird stroller?  I love the look of it
  • @nsk489 I was also wondering about mockingbird! Getting lots of ads and then when I look up reviews, they’re all positive (but seem to be paid sponsorships to bloggers/YouTube people). Because of that I don’t know if I trust that it’s an established enough brand?? Would love to hear of anyone has used one!
  • I might be changing my mind here too... as it looks like the Mountain Buggy Swift which I was set on is impossible to get here.... Now considering the Bugaboo Fox. It's super expensive, but I've only heard good things and it comes with the carrycot. I know it's on the bigger side when folded so I just have to make sure it would fit in our Nissan Versa's trunk...
  • I really like my city mini strolled! I recommend a three wheel stroller (not necessarily a jogged) just because they are easier to maneuver. On my 4th kiddo and I’ve been through a lot of strollers, this one has held up so well! My 4 year old still uses it at times.
  • @brynn_mamaof4 I considered the city mini but I think I’m going with the city tour double since it’s way cheaper. Hopefully being the same brand it holds up just as well!
  • @ckmb_1250 I’m sure it’s going to be great! I hope you love it as much as I do!!
