Another month, another "I really need to get out and move my lazy butt, because I haven't been" refrain. Fingers crossed I'll get there this month!
What's a "small win" you have had recently? I'm loving fruit and salads right now (can't stand roasted vegetables, unfortunately, but doing better with steamed or braised so will have to recalibrate my cooking).
What habits/goals are you focusing on? How are they going? More fiber intake, generally eating healthier (i.e. snacking on fruit rather than crackers/chips). Also the usual goal of getting some exercise. Diet is going fairly well, as long as my stomach cooperates. Exercise hasn't been going well, but I'll get there eventually.
What has you motivated? Avoiding scary butt problems like this weekend, and general desire to be healthier. Once I start baking Christmas cookies it'll all go downhill, so want to do what I can outside of baking to keep mostly healthy.
GTKY: What is a sport/exercise that you thought you would hate, but ended up loving? Maybe strength exercises? I prefer them to cardio. When it comes to exercise I mostly need to find activities I like that are sneakily also exercise (i.e. kayaking/paddling, walking). My biggest hurdle is sticking with it. I can build a habit for a month or so, but once it gets knocked out of whack by travel/illness/weather/etc. then it takes me forever to get back on track.
What's a "small win" you have had recently? I was able to get out on a walk for an hour with my kids the other day. It felt nice to get the fresh air. I also was able to do an hour on my peloton type bike the other day also.
What habits/goals are you focusing on? How are they going? Trying to eat healthy regardless of the nausea and just trying to eat what I can that makes me feel good to survive. Also, trying to stay moving and exercise when I can. I am doing ok staying active a few times a week when I’m not too sick.
What has you motivated? Not gaining a lot of weight like I did with my second child
GTKY: What is a sport/exercise that you thought you would hate, but ended up loving? Running. It is a good way to clear my mind and I thought I would hate it
What's a "small win" you have had recently? I've kept up with mostly daily exercise.
What habits/goals are you focusing on? How are they going? Eating healthy and not eating too much! I feel like even though I'm mostly making good choices I'm just eating when I'm not hungry because something sounds good. Also need to knock up the intensity on my workouts while I still can. I've been sort of afraid to overdo it so far, but most times I work out I'm not even breaking a sweat. Time to kick it up a notch.
What has you motivated? Being healthy for me and the baby.
GTKY: What is a sport/exercise that you thought you would hate, but ended up loving? Another vote for running. I sort of forced myself to do it at first, but now I find it to be a great release and I always really feel like I've accomplished something when I finish.
What's a "small win" you have had recently? This past week I have been able to eat better. I upped my nausea meds and it has helped so much to be able to make better food choices.
What habits/goals are you focusing on? How are they going? Next goals are to add movement and drink more water. Things got bad for a few weeks and I wasn’t doing anything at all. Trying to hit my movement goal more often and looking into some classes to start in Jan.
What has you motivated? My back has started to hurt and I don’t want to injure it again, so I need some core strengthening classes I can do!
GTKY: What is a sport/exercise that you thought you would hate, but ended up loving? Like some of you have said running, I used to hate it so much, and while I don’t love the amount of effort it takes, I always feel great after a run. And also power yoga, I thought I would hate it, but for 3 years I went to class 5x a week. It is the most consistent I have ever been with a workout and the most rewarding. I miss it so much!
Out of the 1st trimester and have SO much more energy so trying to get back into the swing of things!
What's a "small win" you have had recently? I still have been able to keep running, hoping this continues throughout the majority of this pregnancy.
What habits/goals are you focusing on? How are they going? Goal for this week is to do my normal workout routine before work and then after our son goes to bed, to walk 20-30 minutes on the treadmill each night.
What has you motivated? Staying active/strong for an easier delivery and recovery!
GTKY: What is a sport/exercise that you thought you would hate, but ended up loving? Running. I started in college and it has become such a blessing for me! It is my time alone and time to de-stress.
What's a "small win" you have had recently? Been eating better- more fruits and veggies. Also have been trying to get out for walks more now that the exhaustion fog is starting to lift. WFH means I'm eating less crap right now than I would be at school- usually this time of year there are so many special breakfasts/meals/treats.
What habits/goals are you focusing on? How are they going? I'd like to be more active, especially since WFH I'm much more sedentary than I was for previous pregnancies (when I was on my feet all day, every day). This is not going so well yet lol as I am still first trimester wiped out.
What has you motivated? Hoping to not gain more than I did with my other kids, but feeling worried bc I'm so much less active.
GTKY: What is a sport/exercise that you thought you would hate, but ended up loving? Long distance running!! Like a lot of you, I HATED running in high school/college, but about 8 years ago I realized I only hate the first two miles of a run 😆. 6-8 miles are my favorites, and I'm hoping to run a marathon once this baby is a bit older! I run outside and love the time in the fresh air and the connection with my body. It makes me feel strong. A plus of 2020 is finding more time to go run!
@_orchid_ I currently hate running, but have been told it's because I need to get past the first two miles (still working on it). I keep trying, though. One day I'll make it and see what all the hype is about!
@akoros I am a run-walk-run runner and did a half marathon doing that. The first few miles I definitely still hate running, but then enjoy after that until mile 9-10 when I just want to be done lol. And I loved that I could get my workout in with my daughter because she would ride in the stroller so well!
@ramzlau do you do galloway? I have so much respect for R-W-Runners, I have tried but I can't do it mentally. Once I stop running and walk I can't start running again lol. My brain is like NO. DS2 is the best stroller motivator, he always tells me to run faster LOL.
