Anybody skipping their eye Dr appointment this year? Mine is next week. Covid is horrible around here and I’m limiting any unnecessary interactions. I know they don’t change your prescription while pregnant. So it seems unnecessary.
@ckmb_1250 I am because I got Lasik last year. I should have gotten a check up to confirm my vision didn't change at the one year mark, but it didn't seem worth it back in May. I'll have to go next year anyway because my license expires.
i skipped mine! i needed contacts though and i order through my doctor so they 'made an exception' to let me order without coming in. i know my Rx hasnt changed, so i ordered a year's supply
Hi friends. I posted over in the wkly appointments thread that the new OB I saw this week referred me to a nutritionist because she's concerned about my weight. I don't have any questions for the nutritionist but would love to open it up to any of you who might have questions and don't have access to a nutritionist yourselves.
I'm trying to set the appointment for this Friday (12/4) or next week, so if you have Qs for her please post them here by Friday morning at 10am ET. I'll ask as many as I can get away with.
Venting about my eye Dr debacle. I called this morning to cancel and the front desk girl was acting like the Dr wouldn’t extend my prescription without me coming in, so I wouldn’t be able to order more contacts, because there are “a lot of restrictions on that kind of thing “ 🙄 she talked to the Dr and called me back with a voicemail, but I don’t want to listen to it yet because I don’t feel like being mad again today 😂
@ckmb_1250 did it already actually expire?? I had one of the delivery companies try to refuse to fill a prescription once because it was a couple days before my rx expired and I called and gave them hell...I was like it expires in two days, not today so you need to fill it. And they grumbled and did it and said they wouldn't be able to fill any more orders w/o a new one.
@ckmb_1250 actually...if they wont fill it, I wonder if the warby parker app can help. I used it to get a new eyeglasses prescription because i needed to wear eyeglasses instead of contacts for a couple weeks before my lasik surgery last year.... the app can actually give you a vision test for glasses so maybe it works for contacts too!
@ckmb_1250 Honestly, I only go to my eye doctor appointment when I need new glasses. So every 3-5 years. But my prescription isn’t too strong, and I only use them when out of the house. Which isn’t very often right now...
Reporting back on what my first OB had to say about what yesterday's dr. said
she said the baby aspirin is a standard recommendation across doctors and that it hadn't come up in our visits because you don't start it until 16 weeks.
She said she also agreed with the recommendation try to limit weight gain to 20 lbs, but that it was likely I'd gain 20-25# based on where I'm at now. No big deal - already scheduled nutritionist for next week.
Ok I read the transcription of the voicemail because I still didn’t want to listen to that girl’s voice 😂 and they are going to let me buy a bunch of contacts at my current prescription if I do it within the next two weeks (I do think my prescription is actually expired but would also like to point out that it only expired because they couldn’t get me in for an appointment in October when I originally called) So anyway the girl was just bullshitting me and maybe I need a new eye Dr. 😂
@ec1212 glad to hear you are doing what the doctor recommended. And thanks for offering to ask questions! Will you ask what the think of Red Raspberry Leaf tea during pregnancy?
And remember that some of us don’t have complete control over the weight gain, it’s possible that you will only gain 5 more lbs. it’s also possible that no matter what you do, that you will gain over the recommendation. Just be healthy and go with it! Also, I saw your HDBD pic and idk what they are worried about. Seriously.
@yellingbanana - yes, I'll ask for you! And totes agree with you on not necessarily being able to control how much I gain. While my "goal" was around 25-30#, I also know and listen to my body and am confident I have the tools and knowledge to keep myself healthy during and after pregnancy. I'm not stressed about the exact number and mainly focused on doing what feels right and making it as easy as possible for myself to keep up with this bambino after he's here.
That said, this was a nice kick in the pants to get back to real meal planning after a break for first tri and too much cooking for Thanksgiving last week.
I've changed OBs bc I had a poor experience during my last c-section. Before that, though, he would tell me the reason he suggests keeping an eye on your weight is mainly because it's so hard to lose after. It's so true. I gained 75lbs with my first (yikes) and it was sooooo hard to lose. I only ever lost 40 lbs of it. Then I gained 40 with my second which I never lost. So here I sit at my deliver weight for my third baby. By some miracle, I haven't gained any weight this pregnancy. Maybe my body just insists on being at this weight for birth, lol! I say all that to say, sometimes it just is what it is.
