Questions: Is anyone opting out of the blood draw that tests for spina bifida? I believe I opted out for my last two pregnancies. I think I may do it this time but my big concern about any of those tests is receiving a false positive and adding stress.
GTKY: Strangest gift you ever received? When my husband and I had just started dating, he gave me a stuffed soccer ball. I’m convinced he had no idea what to get me and decided to find something random. He’s gotten much better at gift giving over the years. 😄
@dlynn484 I kind of just found out about the spina bifida test this week on this board. No doctor has ever talked to me about it. I read a little about it and it seems like they can diagnose it at the Anatomy Scan? As for the hormone they test, I had it measured when doing my screening for trisomy 13, 18, 21 so I assume if they had seen anything they would have flagged it...🤷♀️
@dlynn484 I just had it done this week, but I think the late a/s at 20 weeks seems to be what the doctors really go on. The blood test is less reliable but can give a few weeks of additional time to confirm with a second blood test and do intrauterine surgery on baby's spine (if it's warranted) in a specific time frame.
Re: week 3 (05/15/21-05/21/21) check-in w/o 11/30

@mimser That’s a good point! I will ask if my previous test checked for that.
