Any thoughts about this cycle? I ovulated way sooner than expected so our timing isn’t great so I’m not holding my breath. I’m already looking on to next cycle, honestly.

Rant/Rave? DD would NOT smile for our Christmas card photos this weekend so she just looks stone cold sober in all of them. 🤣🤣🤣 She also decided she didn’t want to nurse again last night. I think our nursing days are numbered. 😭 that’s twice in 5 days she’s not wanted to nurse. 💔 I’m not ready for the grow up.

GTKY: How many siblings do you have? Did this play a role in to how many kids you want? I have 2 sisters who are 12 and 13.5 years older than me. This age gap definitely played a role into my desired age gap. There are days that they still don’t think of me as an adult even though I’m married with a house and a child of my own. DH has one brother who is 2.5 years older. He really liked having 1 sibling but always wanted another so I’m hoping this helps convince to have 3, ❤️🤣

Rant/Rave? I mentioned our power outage in TWW from a wild wind storm we got last night. My oldest is low key afraid of the dark so we took some glow sticks and put them in a jar for him as a night light. We actually had to do it for both, but they were totally content with that and it worked great!

I’m the oldest of 4 and there’s a 7 year difference between me and my youngest brother. My parents were busy. I actually never wanted kids because I was always responsible for my younger siblings. But then I met mh and quickly changed my mind. We (mh really) would have been set with 2, but having both boys I feel like I would regret not at least trying one more time for a girl. And he’s open to 3 now. We would be happy with either and I’ve resigned myself that when I do get ku’ed with #3 it will definitely be a boy.

@chindimples04 mh has an older brother who is 7 years older and that age gap played a roll in our gapping too. He doesn’t want big gaps. So when I initially told him I want another baby, I said “idc if it’s this month, next year, or in 5 years...” and he’s like not 5 years. Lol

GTKY: How many siblings do you have? Did this play a role in to how many kids you want? I have 1 older brother, and then the younger step and half brothers. I only lived with the older full time and a lot of my childhood I was lonely. I've always wanted 4 kids less than 2 years apart from one another.... That's not happening.

I have a brother that is 3 years old than me an a sister that is a year and a half younger.

We originally only wanted one kid but changed our minds this summer after seeing our LO with our friends babies. She's been asking for a sibling for awhile.

@baby_yoda1986 I have not suffered a loss, and I’m so sorry you have had to go through that. I do take Eu Natural Conception, which is a herbal supplement with vitex in it. It has helped my body regulate to ovulate at a normal time. It took a full cycle of use for it to happen, but it did quickly! This is my second cycle using it and I really like it. It’s pricey but I feel like it’s worth it. My husband takes the men’s version of it, too.

Any thoughts about this cycle? If I don’t ovulate before the week of thanksgiving we won’t have good timing. We will be in a hotel room with all our kids visiting the in-laws and it just won’t be a doable thing to HIO.

Rant/Rave? I’m still trying to work out getting a new Tempdrop sensor. It may require me purchasing one through my insurance I bought for it. I’m trying to avoid doing that. So I’m just waiting and in the meantime I’m opening and closing the sensor to “fix” the rare problem they say I’m having. 🙄 The temperature dropped again yesterday so we are back in the teens. I’m hoping it snows again by next week so we can get outside and work on making a snow fort and build up our hill in the backyard so we can sled some more.

GTKY: How many siblings do you have? Did this play a role in to how many kids you want? I have 1 brother who I have never had a good relationship with. Nothing about my brother has impacted any decision we have made concerning the number of kids we have. I’m pretty sure he thinks we need to stop but so does everyone else in my family except for my in-laws. 🤷🏻‍♀️ My husband has 6 siblings and 2 are in their early teens. Which is why my in-laws support us having a larger family.

@emeraldcity1214 I remember wanting a huge family growing up, 6+ kids. I've since decide four would be fine for me, but I still get looks from my family and dw family.

Just venting and a random question.
When did you know your child(ren) were ready to potty train?

DS has been moody especially this morning. DW mentioned twice this morning putting him in daycare (I'm as sahm). She says he's spoiled and daycare would do him good. She tends to spoil him to get him to stop fussing.... Thanks for reading.

@Kenneylynn3 mh does the same thing to get them to relax or do xyz... he’s mentioned daycare, I’m also a sahm also but going back to my job full time just wouldn’t be worth it for us to pay for daycare (for 2).

My first was fully potty trained by 2. He was so interested and I ended up bribing him with popsicles in the end to poop on the potty. My current dude will. Not. Go. On the potty. His favorite thing in the whole world is juice boxes (probably because we only drink water and milk except days out or camping) so I’ve tried bribing him and he does not care. He’ll pee in the toilet but it’s not a regular thing. I’ve tried leaving him pantsless but he throws a fit and brings me a diaper. I tried putting the potty in the playroom where we spend all of our time and he threw it and threw a fit. He’s not ready. Every single time I change him I tell him he needs to go on the potty but nope. He knows everyone else does. We’ve tried dumping his turds in the toilet so he can flush them but he doesn’t care. He gets a Swedish fish if he pees but he just doesn’t care about them enough to want to do it or tell me he has to go. I’ve tried giving him lots of fluids and setting alarms but he’s really just... not ready. I feel like basically the answer to this question without all the lengthy anecdotes (sorry) is you’ll just know.

@emeraldcity1214 happy birthday to your little!!!

I would love a big family, maybe like 7 (I don’t like even numbers lol) but there is NO WAY I could convince my husband unless our next pregnancy was quintuplets lol. Highly unlikely. That probably stems from never really having a close family unit and desiring more for my own children.

Any thoughts about this cycle? We might chicken out this month! Timing would be better next month, but now that we're committed I feel some anxiety wasting a perfectly good cycle.

Any questions? I had a lot of struggle with PPD with my first, and that's a pretty big reason why we haven't wanted to try again until now. I'm still worried, and I don't feel like I've totally resolved those feelings even 5+ years later. Whenever my next midwife appointment comes (either for my next annual or for an early pregnancy appt), my top priority is to get some recommendations for therapists to start working on that quickly. I don't know what kind of question this is, but, I guess, has anyone else wanted to/needed to work on this before or during a pregnancy? I tried therapy before and wasn't a fan, but I'm not sure what else I would do about it.

Rant/Rave? I don't know, everything is just so much more exhausting these days with COVID around.

GTKY: How many siblings do you have? Did this play a role in to how many kids you want? I have no siblings! And yes, it plays a role. Both husband and I will be in charge of both sets of parents when their health starts to fail, and our son will never have any cousins. I have some cousins, but still feel like I will be completely alone when the time comes to make decisions for my parents, and husband is not in touch with his cousins at all. I feel a lot of responsibility to provide my son with some more family member(s) so he won't be so alone later on in life.

@chindimples04 my DD (7) always puts on weird smiles in front of the camera! We just had Christmas pictures done yesterday and I had to prompt her to not look goofy.

I have 2 siblings and I’m not really close to them. I’m the baby. With the age gap of 8 years, I’m worried any new babies and my DD won’t be super close.

@chindimples04 My brother views me as the same 16 year old that I was when he left and moved away after high school. It’s very annoying.

@paytonpedro I have a large age gap with my first and second. It makes it very difficult to do things with the oldest and having all the littles tagging along. Also, my husband hasn’t always been on board with a big family. I always say, just 1 more. And he begrudgingly says yes. Then a few months ago he asked when we were going to start TTC again. He loves having all the kids and the chaos has definitely grown on him.

@Kenneylynn3 ai have trouble keeping my girls from getting into all my stuff. They like to touch and move everything. It’s maddening.

Potty training can be tricky. It’s usually more about when the parent is ready to commit. 😆 signs of readiness would be wanting their diaper changed right after they owed or poop, trying to use the big potty or little one, being physically capable of other “big kid” things is another sign.

@Aerialmrs My issue wasn’t related to PPD but the emotional stress and anxiety were very much there. TW in spoiler

I had an early second trimester loss before my last baby and it was very traumatic for me. We started trying again as soon as we were given the green light. Looking back I would have benefited from therapy. It was so hard to work through my grief alongside my fear of losing the pregnancy. When I went into labor I was an absolute mess. I delivered our angel and it was very traumatic. My OB told me she thought I had some PTSD from it because of how emotionally distraught I was every time I needed an US. I balled my eyes out after the first one and I couldn’t even go into the same US room so they sent me to another office. I wish I had talked with a therapist while I was pregnant to work through all that. I hope you can find a good one.

GTKY: How many siblings do you have? Did this play a role in to how many kids you want? I have 4 and my husband has 2. I really wanted to have at least 2 because we have close relationships with some of our siblings. I know it’s not guaranteed but I hope my kids experience that closeness too.
