@runningoncookies We have an Omorc one (Amazon) and we love it. It’s crazy but steak or pork chops in it are so good! I bet they’ll be some Good Friday deals on them.

Ok ladies.... need your help. *TW for other pregnant people*

Speaking with my mom yesterday about Thanksgiving and desserts, she informed me that my sister and BIL would be bringing a gender reveal cake. Obviously right now I hate that I'm going to be subjected to this during a freaking holiday. I have not told any family about us getting pregnant or having a MC. And of course it stings with the reality that I would have been just past 12 weeks at Thanksgiving and announcing to them then.

So how do I gracefully bow out of this? What do I tell them? I didn't realize that my mom knows I'm on the GF and DF diet for fertility purposes so I don't think my news would come as such a shock. I just don't know what I'd want to do because eventually I'm going to be hearing he or she in conversation so it's not an easy answer of them doing it before we arrive or do it after we've left (plus I'm pretty sure we're all spending the night). Should I just come clean? Should I leave the room and come back for dessert when they're done?

I don't know what to do or what to say to them.

@inthewoods23 I would personally come clean. I think you would be much better having people know. That way maybe your mom can be the buzz kill and ask sister and BIL to wait to do a gender reveal in a separate, not major holiday. You obviously won’t be able to avoid it forever, but at least during this time, you would be able to get support. ❤️ My SIL and BIL have been really respectful of my feelings with their current pregnancy knowing that we aren’t having success TTC and it’s made the situation more bearable for everyone.

@inthewoods23 I would tell you mom and ask that she handle the situation. I’m sure she will be a great support system to have and that way you don’t have to deal with it. I definitely think it’s reasonable to ask your sister and BIL to use a different time to do their gender reveal given the circumstances.

Lurking sorry but @inthewoods23I’d come clean to your mom if you can do it. After mine, a coworker turned a happy hour into a gender reveal. I seriously thought I could deal with it and put on a face... and I ended up drinking so much I blacked out, my coworker had to drive me home because I couldn’t get on a train, and my husband had to pick me up off our floor and get me in bed. It was emotionally devastating. Do not put yourself through that if you don’t have to girl 💕

@inthewoods23 I think you should at least tell your mom, even if you’re not comfortable telling everyone. I agree that it’s completely reasonable for her or you to ask that the gender reveal happen at a separate time. Then you can decide if you want to be a part of it or not! I know for DH and I, telling our families has (for the most part) helped everyone be a little more respectful about our feelings.

@inthewoods23 I don’t know if I can offer any great advice, but I can offer that you are not alone.

Even knowing about my situation, my brother and SIL are still chugging right along with things like that. Announcing their pregnancy at my birthday party and announcing on Facebook on my due date were apparently not enough, they are now planning a thanksgiving gender reveal as well. I only found out because my sister told me, they still haven’t had the balls to tell me themselves. My plan is to just be really obvious about walking away when they do it so maybe they’ll get the hint, but I can be a passive aggressive bitch sometimes.
