Trying to Get Pregnant

TWW Tuesday 11/10

**This is a thread that welcomes all regardless of where they are at in their TTC journeys. Please be mindful of topics that are discussed that could be hurtful to those going through tough times. Mention of children or pregnancies of others should have a TW (trigger warning) and be in a spoiler if possible, and only be mentioned if it is extremely pertinent to the conversation. Re: TWW Tuesday 11/10

  • Month/Cycle: 17/10

    CD/DPO: 68/8

    Timing: excellent

    Typical LP length: 13

Testing: Friday if I can hold out that long

R/R:  I posted in the IF thread yesterday but I'll share here too. My appointment with my OB went well yesterday. We're going to have a follow up appointment a week from today because at that point we'll know for sure whether or not I'm KU this cycle. If I'm not, we're going to start medicated cycles. DH will go in for a SA and then I'll be starting Letrozole. I'm happy to have a clear plan going forward but also really hoping I'm KU this cycle and that plan ends up being unnecessary.

  • @gingermama29 would a medicated cycle help you ovulate earlier too? It would be nice to not have to wait so long to ovulate. I hope this ends up being your month though so you don’t need to worry about it!

    Month/Cycle: 24/26

    CD/DPO: 18/3

    Timing: -3, -1, O

    Typical LP length: 12

    Testing: I don’t know

R/R: We went to my parents house last night to celebrate my moms birthday and my brother and his family were there. They are just coming out of quarantine from being exposed to covid (they didn’t get it though) and we honestly haven’t seen them very much because I have been so busy with work and also they are handling the virus differently than we are. So it was really nice to see them when I know they haven’t been anywhere haha. Also we actually got through all of the physical files at our client yesterday so I am having everyone work from home today since everything else we have to do is electronic. We start at a different office tomorrow but I figured any way we can avoid exposure helps.

    CS/Q:

  • @bows22 yes it's supposed to make me ovulate earlier. He wants me to start taking it on CD 3 which should have me ovulate around CD14-17. Glad you were able to see your family and celebrate your mom's birthday.

@krash_ yes! The days leading up to AF are the only time I check my cervix, hoping to put a pad on at the last possible second! 🤣

  • @gingermama29 hooray for a good OB appointment; it’s nice to have a backup plan clarified. But your temps are looking good so FX it remains a backup for a looooong time.

@bows22 lol @ "it was really nice to see them when I know they haven’t been anywhere." Sadly these are the times we live in right now! Not everyone has the same approach to the virus and you have to draw the line with whatever YOU are comfortable with.

@krash_ I definitely check my cervix leading up to AF to see if it's "opening". Hopefully today is CD1 for you so you can get this show on the road!

    Month/Cycle: 10/10

    CD/DPO: 17/6

    Timing: excellent

Typical LP length: on a lower dose of progesterone this cycle so we'll see

Testing: I'm luckily going away this weekend to a cabin with 2 friends, and I don't plan on taking tests with me. So... that'll put me at first possible test on Monday at 12DPO.

R/R: rave -- my only form of exercise these days is a vigorous 30-min/2.2mi walk most mornings, but today I felt like running. I only ran for 18 min, but it felt good! One of the biggest deterrent to running (besides my chronic knee issue) is that we live in a very hilly part of SF so even on an 18-min/1.5mi run, my elevation gain was close to 200ft.

Another rave is that I had a 2nd meeting of my "resilience for fertility journey" group therapy last night, and it's so soothing to hear others' stories and have my own struggles validated. Apparently it's not uncommon to switch fertility doctors / clinics (multiple times)!

    CS/Q:  nope

@bows22 what do you do? Sure it was nice to see family.
@krash_ I check my cervix throughout my cycle unless I'm bleeding.
@acleverusername that's great to have a nice group therapy session. Your girls weekend sounds like fun.

  • Funny side note—I was once in a patient room and the woman mentioned checking her cervix. The young doctor was flabbergasted and had her clarify again and asked how she could possibly do that. I really wanted to say that if a doctor can reach it, it’s possible for a woman too as well! His face though! He was still talking about it when he left the room.

@krash_ i hope it is CD 1 so that you can move on! AF can’t ever just make things easy
@acleverusername thats great about your fertility group. I’m glad you are enjoying it! Also glad you got a little run in if that makes you happy! (I hate running haha). And I agree, with covid we can only control what we do personally. So I don’t expect them to change their ways for me but they have to understand that it might change how much we see them! It sucks though.
@Kenneylynn3 for your testing question - these are my thoughts based on my lurking here - from charts where O date is confirmed, I’ve seen BFPs at 8 dpo but they are really rare. I think 9 DPO is the first reasonable day to test, but is still so early that a BFN on 9 or 10 dpo doesn’t necessarily mean you are out. 11 DPO there’s still a shot but by 12 DPO it’s typically accurate. Like I said this is just the feeling I’ve got from my lurking of charts. Other sites say differently but it’s hard to trust without seeing a chart since you don’t know if someone is really the DPO they think they are without temping. Also, I do financial statement audits and business consulting. So for the audits the amount of work we can do remotely depends on how much the client has electronically or is willing to scan to us.
  • @Kenneylynn3 here is a link to a website that I like that has a lot of data on pregnancy tests. They take their community data where women upload their pregnancy tests. The pregnancy test results by dpo will give you each day the % of tests that were false negatives. At 9 dpo about half of the tests were negative but they ended up being pregnant. By 12 dpo only 14% were false negatives. Personally, I don't test before 12 dpo anymore.

  • @Kenneylynn3 note: not based on charts, but this guide might be helpful: https://www.countdowntopregnancy.com/pregnancy-test/pregnancy-tests-urine-sample.php. In theory, I agree with @bows22 that testing 12DPO is pretty "safe". It's not a girls' getaway: MH and I, plus my friend and her BF. It should be nice regardless.

    @emmylou78 LOL at that story.

@bows22 agreed that it sucks not to be able to see ppl due to dissimilar approach to COVID; it's doubly sucky when it's family.

@krash_ yeah Letrozole definitely looks like it'll be a good option for me. Fewer side effects than clomid from what I've read and better success with overweight women which is definitely me. Sorry for the BFN today. Hope you can get rolling on your new cycle asap.

@acleverusername oooh have fun with your weekend away!! Also you rock for running part of it today! That's awesome!

@Kenneylynn3 I'm so ready for the snow and cold. It's been in the 70s here for the last several days and I don't like it. November is supposed to be cold!! Haha feel free to send that weather here!!
