Hello all! So I'm shamelessly following the Product Spotlight schedule and prompts I stole from my last BMBs, and after a string of super crucial topics (carseats! cribs! strollers!) we have kind of a peripheral topic this week: BATHTIME!
This is a great time to, you know, SPOTLIGHT some PRODUCTS about bathtime, but it would also be great for STM+ to share your methods, tips, and techniques. There are so many other momentous things to plan for meticulously and you may then find yourself with a squirming 3-day old baby over a sink not entirely sure what to do!
So! Adorable baby towels and teensy washcloths? Soaps and shampoos that won't irritate that silky skin? Baby-holders/mini-baths for the bathtubs? Solutions for shower-only households? And looking ahead to older babies, what toys do you have in the bath with them? But more broadly, technique-oriented, how often do you really bathe a newborn? A 6-month old? A 1-year-old? Where do you do it (bath, separate baby bathtub, shower, sink)? How do you do it without that wriggly little peanut flinging themselves into the water? Do you get in there with them? Please share!

I’ll probably just get another one because it’s what I’m comfortable with. We use it in the sink till baby is about 4 months, then use it in the bathtub until baby can sit up. Then on to regular baby in the bathtub.
Our babies get a bath every 3 or 4 days (except our first who got one every other day). You don’t want to bathe them too often, it can make their skin dry.
For those of you who already have 2+ kids, do you just put the new baby in a little bath seat in the tub with your toddler? Or are they too crazy?
We are planning on doing the same this time around and will probably get a second bath seat so we can just do them both at once.
We were gifted a pop out baby tub and I found a mesh bath insert at a thrift store that clipped well onto the edges. I was planning to just get a plastic bin or use a laudry bin with the insert, but I didn't need with the gift. The pop out works really well and folds and has a hook to hang in the shower. I used It on the table a couple of times but then just used it on the shower floor because I was terrified of dropping my baby.
After a couple of months I did start showering him on the shower floor with the hand sprayer and stopping up the drain so he could drift around on the cm of water. We don't have a tub.
At 6 months he needed a soap shower after every meal. And my husband would just hold him in the shower. When he could stand well I would just shower him standing with the hand sprayer.
I have small baby hooded towels and a bigger penguin hooded towel, more of an adult quality towel. I used the thinner ones when he was little and eventually moved permanently to the bigger one when he started walking. We have tons of baby cloths, so I always bring in two or three for a bath. I used a variety of sample shampoos at the beginning and then just used what we had in the shower, ivory and castille. The samples were mostly Eucerin and I was gifted a purple nightime Johnson and Johnson that was nice. I liked both.
Bath toys are just gifts, so a stacker water toy and a couple of squeeze animals (yes I know they harbor mold and need to be cleaned often). Currently include beach rake and shovel that he migrates all over the house and a 4 cup measuring cup. (13 months old)
