  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 4w6d, so that’s June 30, based on LMP. Totally possible it’s actually early July but oh well.
    FTM/STM/STM+: STM+
Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: Finding out for sure
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: poppy seed
Upcoming appointments: first appt November 19
How are you feeling?: definitely more tired, more bloated at night. I usually get nauseated in the evenings during 1st trimesters so I’m waiting for that shoe to drop.
Rants/Raves: still able to work out without little issue, so yay! Missing wine, boo!
    Questions: nope
GTKY: What has been your favorite Halloween costume or what are you dressing up as this year? I’m not the biggest costume person, never really have been. My favorite costume ever was when I was Wayne and my friend was Garth from Wayne’s World, but that was like 17 years ago, haha! Not dressing up this year because we’re not going out at all.

@mc0303 I would be nervous being more than 30 mins from my hospital I think. Which is silly, since labor is (almost) never that fast. But if you are talking about Cedars I would totally choose that (I used to live in LA back in the day). I’m so sorry you are dealing with the fires, such an awful and scary situation.

@gabs90 Boo to 5 pm meetings but yay for it getting cancelled!

@Lisa3379 I totally already miss wine too, which is a bummer because I didn’t at all during my first pregnancy. I’m sure Covid + election is not helping.

    Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 5+4/ June 25

    FTM/STM/STM+: STM

    Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: Team Blue

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: A pencil eraser

Upcoming appointments: More blood work on Monday then hopefully scheduling my first U/S for the week of 11/9

How are you feeling?: Exhausted and way overly emotional, I’ve been a tear-y mess the last 24 hours. Otherwise pretty okay.

Rants/Raves: Rant: I have zero motivation for work and am worried I am going to have to tell people I am pregnant if I can’t get it together and work more in the coming days/weeks. Rave: it is finally cooling down here, about time!

Questions: Anyone else insanely emotional and crying over anything and everything? I am not sure how much of it is the pregnancy versus the IVF hormones.

GTKY: What has been your favorite Halloween costume or what are you dressing up as this year? When I lived in LA and was like 22 or 23 I was a slutty firefighter and my costume was glow in the dark which was super fun.

  • @legallykate yes, I was thinking about Cedars. I didn’t have the best experience at Hoag in Newport last time. It’s stressful being a person of color giving birth regardless of how nice the hospital is though😭. And I feel you on the weepy emotions. I’ve been so moody, which has to be the pregnancy bc I’m also on Prozac.
  • @legallykate it’s super scary and considering how close I came last time... it’s now always on the back of my mind

How are you feeling?: Nauseated. I've been exhausted for several days now, but I don't know if that because of multiple night wake ups from my 9 month old or just the new baby.
Rants/Raves: The hurricane isn't forecasted to directly hit us, so that's great! We'll still get the brunt of the tropical storm wind and rain, but we don't need another direct hit this year. We still have tons of clean up from the last one, and many houses still have tarps as roofs. Schools are closing early today, and we're supposed to shelter in place starting at 5pm.
    Questions: NATM
GTKY: What has been your favorite Halloween costume or what are you dressing up as this year? DD1 is Elsa, DD2 is Olaf, and I'm Anna. I'm doing a super simple one from stuff in my closet. A black maxi dress, purple sweater (instead of cape), and a gold scarf tied around my waist.

@mc0303 - I truly hate all the national disasters that have happened this year. It seems to be one of the worst years for fires. The most I would drive for a hospital is about an hour. I can't fathom being in the car longer than that with contractions.

@gabs90 - I hope your nausea stays mild!

@Lisa3379 - I'm sure I could look this up if I went back on the STM thread, but how many kids do you have and what are their ages?

@legallykate - Ugh, yet my emotions have been all over the place. I cry at the drop of a hat.

@mc0303 - The racial issue with hospitals and birth are so saddening. I recently watched an episode of Mama Doctor Jones on Youtube about MC rates and other things among WOC and it really opened my eyes to things I didn't know were happening.

How are you feeling?: Totally exhausted, overslept this morning and still feel groggy
Rants/Raves: I overslept when apparently there was some sort of deadline at 8:30am....I woke up at 8:36. Luckily I was correct in guessing that my boss wanted to stand down on the request so it's not a big deal, but sucks to wake up to a dozen emails
    Questions: none right now
GTKY: What has been your favorite Halloween costume or what are you dressing up as this year? Back in 2009 I was "H1N1". Basically wore a nurse's costume and added on a pig's tail and ears (for the "swine" in swine flu). That was probably my most creative costume.

@legallykate I haven't been overly emotional, but also have never had crazy emotions while pregnant so I think it's just not one of my symptoms.

@Lisa3379 I feel like wine is usually what I wind up missing the most. My husband will drink beer and cocktails, which I can smell and take a small sip of, but he generally won't crack open a bottle of wine unless I'm drinking it

@mc0303 I'm so sorry that's something you have to think about, it's awful. I think an hour would be my limit, and I'd figure out what hospitals are along the way in the event that I can't make it that far. My hospital is technically 25 minutes away, but in traffic (which there always is) it's usually closer to 40.

@marebear15 Glad you're not getting a direct hit!
  • @marebear15 I have 2 boys - one just turned 2, and the other will be 4 in a few weeks. How old are yours? Our kids would totally get along with the Frozen connection - we have to listen to “Let it Go” at least 10 times a day around here 😄

@akoros same here - my husband doesn’t typically drink wine when I’m pregnant either. I have, however, demanded he open a bottle a couple times during each pregnancy just so I could have a tiny glass 🙊 But as long as I have a massive stash of La Croix to keep drinking instead of wine, I’m usually ok.

@Lisa3379 I may need to have him do that. I also have a lot of recipes that call for some wine, so that's another way to finish up the bottle. He's happy to drink it if I open a bottle (of a wine he likes, of course, but he'll often even try the white wines I open), just won't go for it on his own. I do have a stash of Spindrift as well as ginger beer and Fever Tree tonic for when I want something "fancy". Right now, though, I'm so bloated I don't really want anything other than water or tea.
  • @akoros I wish I liked tea! I mean, tea just sounds really good. The other night, I almost made some but then realized I threw it all out because it was so old and I just don’t like it. I feel like I need a tea drinker to make me tea to help me see what I’m doing wrong.
  • @mc0303 I switched hospitals for DS2. Ds1 was born in the hospital 3 minutes from my house but it was a traumatic experience. Had Ds2 in a hospital about 45 minutes away. It was worth it for peace of mind, but it was January and we had a pretty big snow storm the day we were sent home so that was a bit nerve-wracking. Can you tour cedars? I'd say go with your gut.
@gabs90 yay for unexpected cancelled meetings!
@Lisa3379 yay for still getting done workouts in! I've been a pile of mush lol
@legallykate waves of emotion hit me occasionally, mostly anger instead of tears though. I got irrationally irritated over an email yesterday and had to wait a few hours to respond lol.
@laurad75 aww the max theme sounds adorable!! That is a lot of work. MH HATES Halloween and refuses to dress up so family costumes are off the table for us
@marebear15 glad you guys shouldn't get a direct hit!! Those costumes sound cute!!
@akoros oh man sounds like a rough morning!! Glad you had no major consequences and can work from home instead of having to rush through a commute!!
  • @Lisa3379 Not sure if I'm really much help, but I love rooibos tea. I have plain plus a vanilla rooibos and then the Trader Joe's pumpkin spice rooibos. Rooibos itself has a slightly sweet taste to me, so I like it at night instead of a dessert. I like black teas, too, but tend to stay away from them because of caffeine (beyond pregnancy I'm also prone to migraines if I overdo it on caffeine), so mostly stick to herbal teas.

@_orchid_ Very true, though if I were going in to the office I'd be setting an alarm which would have helped prevent oversleeping! It's mostly over now, and I just really want a nap...

Upcoming appointments: had one this morning and another US for Friday since today's was tough to see
How are you feeling?: ok, still have congestion and tough to say what is a pregnancy symptom vs. change of season stuff. Feeling anxious as today is a loss milestone and today's ultrasound wasn't very clear- although I keep reminding myself that is super early and the Dr was able to see a sac in my uterus, which is great at this point! My next milestone is 7w so I know I'm going to be super anxious the next two weeks with pgal brain.
Rants/Raves: I'm so glad to be able to work from home today! I have 10 more days of this option right now so might take advantage lol. Went to my re at 6 am for monitoring and their computers weren't working so had to wait an hour, and then when they called me back for bloodwork the phlebotomists were arguing with each other right before one of them stuck me and it was a bad stick.
    Questions:
GTKY: What has been your favorite Halloween costume or what are you dressing up as this year? In college I was a MILF and carried around a baby doll and a baby bottle of alcohol. Also was Betty crocker one year with a turkey baster and a bucket of gin 😂
  • @Lisa3379 - I have two girls, 3 years and 9 months. We are obsessed with Frozen, but thankfully she's moved on to Frozen 2, so I get a little bit of variety.

@_orchid_ - Prayers for you today on your loss milestone. Those are rough days, especially combined with the frustrating ultrasound.
  • @_orchid_ Milestones are so hard. That said, it still is super early so try to not worry too much (easier said than done, I know). That sucks about the phlebotomist, too. I get if she's angry, but not your fault
  • @marebear15 @akoros thank you. I just got a call back about my betas and they've risen appropriately since last week's draw and are still below 10k. A Dr once told me he wouldn't do US if betas are under 10k bc it's too hard to see so this makes me feel better! I'm close enough to 10k that I should be there by Friday when my Dr wants me back for another us. Rationally I know it's so early but i still get all in my head!
  • @mc0303 I think I would be willing to plan 30 minutes....maybe 45....an hour would be hard. Laboring in a car is not fun. I’ve gone into labor MOTN both times but I’m always nervous I’ll go into labor at rush hour. And the racial stuff is terrible. I would definitely drive further for a hospital I felt more comfortable with. Touring can’t hurt.

    How are you feeling?: GARBAGE
Rants/Raves: I FEEL LIKE GARBAGE. I’m a SAHM and my kids are watching tv all day while I lie on the couch and groan. That’s not an exaggeration, either.
    Questions:
GTKY: What has been your favorite Halloween costume or what are you dressing up as this year? We’ve done family costumes based around books. I think this is the last year I’m going to dictate DS1(3.5)’s costume. We’ve done Harold and the Purple Crayon, Winnie the Pooh, and this year Good Night Gorilla. I’m the zookeeper’s wife.
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @Omie_Wise do you have Amazon prime? They have a bunch of videos of books read aloud and one of them is goodnight gorilla. My 3.5 yo LOVES walking like the gorilla and thinks it's hilarious. There are a lot of books on there if it makes you feel better about your kids watching TV!
  • @_orchid_ thanks! I will check that out.
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @Omie_Wise - I'm not a SAHM, but I'm part time and when we're home in the afternoon, that is exactly what I do for several hours until DH has pity on me and picks up dinner for himself and the kids.
