  • @dobiemom11 so lucky the tree didn’t do a bunch of damage!

I love owning my home but it sure is a lot.    Our central air got all leaky this summer and had to stop running it so we don’t ruin the furnace under it.  To fix the AC Is about $1500. Ugh

We have so many things we need to do around here before everything freezes, but also somehow have time to get ready for the baby.  And we both work more than full home. 🤦‍♀️

Sure would be nice to have a landlord to take care of it. Or at least way more money than we have and just hire people.
  • @gingkomama and @autumn87654321. I sent a text to our neighborhood group and within twenty minutes a neighbor was over with a chainsaw.  The yard still looks a mess with branches everywhere though.  We will get a wood chipper in a couple weeks to get rid of it all.  I hope my neighbor will be patient with the branches being in his yard in the meantime.  Doing the best we can, but very pregnant and a husband with a bad wrist makes it a little hard.  If he gets frustrated, I guess I can always tell him to move them himself.
  • @dobiemom11 ugh I feel you! We had to replace a toilet last week, and just realized there either a roof leak or AC duct problem over our 2nd bathroom. Also the electricity to our wired Ring is no longer working. If it isn’t 1 thing it’s always another!

Caught up on the bump for the first time in over a month today, mostly because the app was so buggy and I just didn't have time for that nonsense until right now. So good to see all the posts - though it looks like I missed the first wave for the private group. I don't mind, as I've been mia for so long, I just hope I can catch the fb wave when it happens as I'm already on there for other community groups.

We expanded the 3yo's pre-k to include a 2-day/week entirely outdoor programming on 9/22, and I'm finally catching my breath and getting into a rhythm. Plus now I have appointments every 2 weeks to stay more caught up.

I recently figured out we only have around 8 more Saturday's to get stuff ready before the baby is here - including the useless Saturday after Thanksgiving. I think I'm going to skip Halloween decorations and go straight to Christmas on Nov 1.

I've missed this group, and am excited for us all to meet these LO s soon!

  • @mom_of_the_vogels. We are also car shopping and it is not fun!  Not sure if it will get done before baby arrives, but at least we have some better ideas of what we are looking for in the future.  Best of luck with yours.
  • @mom_of_the_vogels I have a Kia Sportage but I still want a minivan after we rented one to drive to Florida like 2 years ago lol... The Kia minivan is expensive but it drove so nice and had a thing that opened in the trunk for more storage!

  • @mom_of_the_vogels we have a Toyota Highlander, which I love, but I'd really like to get a minivan.  It'll only be two kids for us, but when we travel to see family we take two dogs with us.  It's super cramped with two dogs, suitcases and one kid - adding a second kid will be even worse.

But instead we might just stop taking the dogs and make our trips a bit more stress-free haha.

  • @karmba. That is the game we are trying to play with traveling with kids and the dog.  Right now with no kids, we easily fill up the trunk.  (We have to bring an air mattress and all the associated bedding with us as well as all the dog stuff!  That game gets old fast!). Now we are looking at a new car that would allow for baby and dog to be in separate locations.  My husband really wants a hybrid, but I am just not sure that will be an option.  I told him we could rent when we travel or leave the dog at a boarding location.  We will see what ends up happening.
  • @karmba we have a Highlander too and for the most part I love it, but it just doesn't have a good/appropriate place for a third car seat. The third row and center jump seat don't have latch or anchor points which makes me think they really aren't designed for them, even though the owner's manual doesn't specify. Plus, if you have to use the third row you lose basically all of the cargo room. And, how on earth would you buckle kids in?!

It's a car full when we go anywhere overnight with just the kids, our dogs generally stay home and we have family check in on them. I have no idea how we would fit them and all the gear in if we had to 😳

  • @mom_of_the_vogels that's the exact issue we have with the two dogs!  Using the third row for seating takes up a bunch of trunk space.  We've talked about getting a car-top carrier for luggage.  We want to buy a camper in a few years and a minivan can't pull it so we'd rather wait to buy another car until then.

  • We have a full sized ford transit and it has so much room.  I love it for so many reasons.  The only downside is no 4wd, but the 2020 version does have that option.
