I have absolutely no flipping’ idea what’s happening this cycle and therefore don’t know if I should be in WTO or in TWW. 😫 Experts, please weigh in!

@acleverusername I don’t use the Premom brand so I’m unfamiliar. Does the test line not need to be darker than the control line? Your temp shift seems to possibly indicate O yesterday, on CD13, but your strips make me think maybe today is O day. I usually get tendered breast around O, so makes me think it’s coming shortly. Do you ever get ovulation pain? I’m sorry your body isn’t giving you clear answers!

@acleverusername you might not have O'd yet. I would keep HIO and POAS until you have a definitive temp shift because it's possible your LH started to rise and then something threw off your O and it backed down. You have tested often enough that if you had your surge you probably would have caught it.

Does the test line not need to be darker than the control line?

@chindimples04 Yes, the Premom brand is quantitative tests, so they measure the actual level of LH in urine.

Thanks @krash_ & @chindimples04 for your input. Unfortunately we can't HIO today given pre-existing male-fertility factor, so hopefully the fact that we did it yesterday is sufficient FX. I think this is the first cycle that I've been so confused.

Update: I also had phenomenal pelvic discomfort yesterday to the point that I thought I might have OHSS. I asked about it in a local IVF/Infertility Facebook group and a few people commented that it was probably O pain. I think I got O pain once during unmedicated cycles, so I certainly had no experience with it during medicated cycles, but it does make sense.

@acleverusername I don’t see a positive OPK and I don’t see ovulation on your chart either. You need a temp that is .2 above the 6 previous temps. Then that needs to stay elevated for 3 days to confirm it was ovulation.

@emeraldcity1214 the OPKs that I use are quantitative, so it doesn't matter if the test line is lighter than control line. Most other tests are semi-quantitative, so they show the T/C ratio and when the amount of LH in urine passes a threshold (which depends on the test), the test line becomes darker than the control line. Tbh, I'm not sure if I prefer these tests over the semi-quantitative ones. But I've read that these ones are better for ppl with irregular cycles, PCOS, multiple surges, etc. so I fit that profile. 🤷‍♀️

I did hear back from my clinic finally and it sounds like yesterday's pain was indeed ovulation pain.So I'll see if the temp keeps going up tomorrow; I suspect it will. 🤞🏻

@acleverusername I don’t think I have ever came across an OPK that didn’t need to be as positive as the control line. I will have to look into these some more so I can fully understand how they work. Hopefully you will see a nice, strong shift that won’t leave you second guessing anything.

@emeraldcity1214 I have to correct myself. The tests I use are semi-quantitative. The T/C ones called "threshold based." I'm a big fan of Modern Fertility (have been an early adopter of their products) and they have an excellent blog. Okay: here is a SS of my "report" of the last 7 cycles. I am worried about the difference in my Leutal Phases. Obviously a doctor would be the one to turn to, however insurance doesn't cover any infertility related appointments and I just got a bill for $165 for my 15 minute consult 2 weeks ago. So, am I right to think I might have a defect?

@legendairymomma it's hard to say, you O looks fairly average and there is usually more wiggle room there. Your LP could be short but on average it looks to be normal and dr's usually wouldn't prescribe progesterone unless it was closer to 9-10 days. You could try using Proov strips to test your progesterone at home to get more information.

@legendairymomma I'm sorry I'm not much help, but I believe some test can be done by an ob, which wouldn't be considered IF testing? I remember someone talking about seeing a type of Dr who would charge it differently to insurance.... Hopefully someone remembers what I'm talking about.

@legendairymomma I’m with @krash_ on this. Even though the LP varies, it’s over 10 days long. I’m not saying that’s good, but it probably means you don’t have low progesterone / luteal phase defect.

The type of doctor that @Kenneylynn3 is referring to is called a NaPro OB. They’re regular OBs but bill their treatments as menstrual dysfunction instead of infertility. They actually test for / diagnose the root cause. I had started seeing one but unfortunately, given my age, couldn’t afford to invest more time into it. I did get A LOT of diagnostic testing done with them. A word of warning: there are strings attached when seeing a NaPro in how they make you tack your cycles (using the Creighton) I just didn’t have time for that. But if cost is a barrier for you, then it may be the way to go.

@legendairymomma I think your LP is normal. It does fluctuate some in length but not a concerning amount and it’s a good length. Even your shortest LP is long enough for implantation to occur. It would be more concerning if your LP was closer to 8 or 9.

Thanks for the responses. I have been wondering if it fit the bill or not for a while. At least thats one worry off my plate! I think we will do Hubs SA and if thats normal then I will look into a NaPro.

Ok-- since I just learned how to do this... thoughts?

This is the first cycle AL-- "day 1" is ~14 days after d&c, so don't take the actual day numbers too seriously. I just started temping when I was pretty sure I was finished bleeding and hpts were faint.

My CBDA never went full-peak, despite testing 2x a day, but this has happened to me before in cycles in which I have definitely O-ed. Also the OPKs were very close to positive the whole time (just lighter than control), and then just passed over to slightly darker than control on the two days marked. So, looking at this you might think "duh O on day 9", which is probably right, but the difference in OPKs from day 5 to 9 was tiny (though they have gotten fainter since).

I'm wondering if this could be some post-loss hormone nonsense and I still have not O-ed yet.

So I thought I O’ed on Monday night/Tuesday AM. Temps looked good. OPKs went up (not super high but up) then down. I still keep checking OPKs and I just got the darkest opk I’ve ever gotten in life. CM is also pretty heavy.

Fertility friend is also confused and took away my DPO count. 😅

What do you think? Maybe I will O tomorrow and didn’t actually O when I thought I did?

@AKuzReve the easy@home tests usually need to have a test line darker than the control line to indicate an LH surge. My completely Dr Google guess is your body was gearing up earlier this week but didn’t actually ovulate, so now it is!

@chindimples04, yeah that’s what I think too but what about the temps?! Why do they look like I O’ed then too? What’s up with that.

@AKuzReve I personally don’t think they look like you O’d. You want them to go .4-1 full degree higher than your last 6 temps and yours don’t do that, especially with the dip in temp at CD28 and CD30.

@AKuzReve agreeing with @chindimples04 on this one. I had a cycle like this is May. I place more weight on CM and super dark OPK over bbt; but also you bbt didn’t really rise / stay high enough to confirm O. So... get to HIO lady!

@AKuzReve Agreed, I don’t think that temp rise was really significant. It met the technical criteria so you got CH, but barely. Same with the OPKs. I usually get an almost positive OPK about 5-6 days before my actual positives. I know they aren’t really quantitative, but some people get a few LH surges before they get one high enough to actually trigger ovulation, and that is my guess here. Does look like you probably will ovulate soon though!

Thank youuuu! I appreciate it. The temp drop had confused me too but now it makes sense. Glad we got at least 1 HIO in because I’ll probably O tmr. I was really surprised initially I didn’t have a strong surge since I usually do.

@AKuzReve This is exactly why I don’t ever rely on app predictions. Have you read the rules for confirming a shift with your BBT? TCOYF is a great read if you haven’t already read it. I hope you can HIO in time.

@emeraldcity1214 I have never trusted an app as I have long cycles. I read that a long time ago so the knowledge is there but ancient.

@AKuzReve I just assumed you were relying on FF to tell you when you ovulated because your temps didn’t meet the criteria according to TCOYF. I’m glad you realized that wasn’t your actual shift so you still have time to HIO.
