Healthy Habits w/o 10.5

What habits, goals, or resolutions are you focusing on this week?

How's everything going?

What has you motivated or struggling this week?

What's a "small win" you have from last week?

Re: Healthy Habits w/o 10.5

  • Just got back from my walk/run, so figured I'd jump in here while I'm feeling good

What habits, goals, or resolutions are you focusing on this week?
Getting back on track, exercise-wise, last week wasn't very good (only worked out 2-3 times). Also need to work on cutting my calorie intake a bit more, being too lax

How's everything going? So far I've already done more exercise than last week, so good so far! Next week will probably be similarly hard (last week and next week I have all-day trainings, which make it hard to get out), so trying to do what I can this week

What has you motivated or struggling this week? Weather is perfect, and so far I've been able to survive and progress with C25K (still only on week 3, week 5 is what I'm scared of). I also finally took my husband up on doing stretches with him, which I hated but was really good.

What's a "small win" you have from last week? Don't know, last week I was pretty bad. With training I couldn't really move during the day, and then would work late trying to catch up with everything I'd missed, so I just gave up. Our meal delivery order was also all kinds of screwed up, which meant extra takeout

@akoros Yay for starting the participation in this thread! Like you, I had a bad week last week so need to get back on track. Glad you are enjoying the stretching with YH. And Good for you for getting to Week 3 of Couch to 5k! It is inspiring.

What habits, goals, or resolutions are you focusing on this week? I need to get back on my healthy eating plan. Time to cut out the sugar & gluten again, debating about the dairy.

How's everything going? I abandoned by gluten- dairy- sugar-free diet last week after months of dedication; I have been feeling physically terrible ever since falling off the wagon. I was feeling amazing prior to and can distinctly feel the yucky feeling set in after eating sugar or gluten. Not so much with the dairy, which I’ve now switched to A2 milk, which is supposed to be better than American cows’ A1 inflammatory protein.

What has you motivated or struggling this week? I felt motivated last week & went for a beautiful long run (almost 3 miles, which is very long for me these days). It felt fantastic, but I got a splitting headache after that. It hasn’t gone away for almost a week. It’s kept me in bed at odd times of day & thus getting very few steps. I actually went & took a Covid test today to make sure that isn’t the issue. Will clean up my diet to see if that’s a culprit as well.

What's a "small win" you have from last week? I’d say the run was a small win. Despite not running very much, I can still jog the same pace as when I was an avid runner. (Albeit, with more walk breaks.😆) Running about 8.5-9.5 miles per hour pace feels amazing and I feel like myself again when I run. That’s what I need to do as soon as this headache goes away.
  • @akoros In contrast to you, I have not exercised in 2 days and I am halfway through a pint of Halo Top, so that’s how I am doing!

What habits, goals, or resolutions are you focusing on this week? I am attempting to run farther this week. End goal would be a 5k with no walking. Ideally I would want an in person 5k to train for, but no luck. I haven’t been motivated enough by the idea of a virtual run.

How's everything going? I have overall done pretty well with diet in the last few weeks, but on the occasions that I run, they have been pretty short.

What has you motivated or struggling this week? Work is destroying my motivation to do anything else. I’m trying to use the weight loss wins from the last few weeks to motivate me.

What's a "small win" you have from last week? I did get in a 4 mile run/walk over the weekend!
  • @keikilove Ugh, that sucks about your headache, I hope it goes away soon. Particularly in the summer I often get nasty headaches when I work out and sweat a lot (probably the loss of electrolytes, triggers a migraine), it sucks to feel so good just to be knocked on your a**.

@fitzfizz Been there, done that (last week). I'm trying to give myself a break and not beat myself up over weeks like those, it happens. Tomorrow is our anniversary, so I fully expect to 1) not work out, and 2) eat/drink waaaay too much at dinner. I hear you on the virtual runs, my husband wants to do our own little 5k (maybe on Thanksgiving) for motivation, which makes it a little better.
  • After reading @keikilove’s comment, I will amend my post to be clear that I do not run, I jog at a lazy 5.5-6 mph pace haha

@akoros Your own 5k sounds fun! I’m trying to convince someone in my real life to run with me, but so far no success. Everyone I know is either way faster than me, or doesn’t run.
  • @fitzfizz OMG I just saw my comment about pace!!!🤪 I’m dead!!! That’s was a total innocent sleep-deprived typo: I run an 8.5/9.5 MINUTES PER MILE pace, which is almost identical to your pace! Yes girl, we is JOGGING!😄😄😄
  • @keikilove Ah yes! I feel much better about myself now haha. On a good day I can do a sub-10 minute mile, so I am not that much slower!
  • @fitzfizz Oh, he's going to leave me in the dust after a few seconds. He actually runs regularly, so it'd be torture for him to hang out with me as I slowly jog. That said, I have gotten in the habit of trying to do a long walk or something on Thanksgiving, which I really like (helps me feel a bit better about all the pie and stuffing I cram myself with later), so seemed like a good enough goal.
