How many kids do you already have? Ages? 3 kids! 😳 All boys. My oldest will be 9 early December, my middle will be 5 next week, and my youngest turned 3 in May
Rants/Raves: Still nervous/freaked that I’m pregnant! We knew this was a possibility of course b/c we were NTNP, but after the last 3 years of nothing happening, I figured I was heading toward menopause (I’m 41). Now I’m just hoping and praying that everything is good and healthy in there.
GTKY: What car do you drive? What car does YH/SO drive? Has that/will that change because of your growing family? I drive a Kia minivan! We bought it right before baby 3 was born. I NEVER EVER EVER thought I’d drive a minivan but I love it now....it’s a good thing too, since now we are on to baby 4! Hubby drives a Jetta, but he won’t be getting anything new. He has two seats in his car mainly to drive the older ones to and from school when he needs to but we mainly use my car. ☺️

How far along are you? 4w3d (EDD 6/11) How many kids do you already have? Ages? Two boys, 3.5 and 1.5. Rants/Raves: I'm going to get this out of the way early and be done with it, hah! But after we had our second I (not my husband, which is a whole other thing) got a lot of questions about trying for a girl. And actually, before second was born we got a lot of comments about "hoping for a girl", because we were on team green. First of all, asking me any questions about having more kids is inappropriate. Second of all, asking me if I want a girl while I'm hold my gorgeous lil 6 week-old baby (true story) is not cool. Are you implying that the baby I am holding isn't enough for me because he happens to have a penis? My husband's grandma, who is a million years old, even asked my MIL if she was disappointed she doesn't have any granddaughters. In front of me and my husband AND our kids (who were like 2yo and 6 months old at the time, but still! Rude). Our decision to have another baby has absolutely zero to do with their genitals! And I'm just dreading the questions before and the comments after. I clearly have a lot of feelings about this. Haha. Sorry for coming in hot on the first check-in. I promise to play it cool from now on. GTKY: We have a Kia Forte hatchback. I love it. We bought it just before we had our first kiddo. Unfortunately it will not fit 3 car seats across. I really don't want to go the minivan route since I can only barely parallel park our tiny hatchback, but I feel like that is probably where we are headed. So if anyone has a minivan that they love, LMK why I, too, should have one!
@mamakate2011 Oh! Is that the Kia Sedona? We love our Kia and I'm weirdly brand loyal—I know what to expect from our dealership and service centre, etc.
Your youngest is around the same age as my oldest! He's a Feb 17 baby. Please tell me that age 4 is...uh...better than 3?? Or just different?!
And congratulations! I hope this pregnancy is happy, healthy and super boring!
How many kids do you already have? Ages? DS will be 6 the end of this month.
Rants/Raves: You may have seen in the weekly randoms that I am visiting my parents while my dad is in the hospital for an eye infection. The positive was I got to tell my mom in person yesterday that we are expecting, and she was so excited. She said it was the best news she had heard in a long time and of course started to cry. I'm hoping to be able to be my dad's visitor at the hospital today following some testing there doing this morning. So my plan is to tell him when I see him at the hospital later. Hopefully this will lift his spirits while he's going through all of this.
GTKY: What car do you drive? What car does YH/SO drive? Has that/will that change because of your growing family? We live in a area will lots of snow, so my husband drives a Subaru Forester and I drive a Subaru Impreza hatchback. Four-wheel drive is a must! We think that in a couple of years we will upgrade the Forester (it's almost paid off) possibly to the next size up Subaru Ascent because it has a third row of seats. My Impreza is only 2 years old, and I got all of the safety features with it. I will probably keep my car as the small car since I have the longer commute and more city driving. We already use my husband's bigger car for most of our family trips.

Rants/Raves: my husband is driving me crazy wanting to tell people already. I realize our closest friends will know soon enough, but I kind of like having a secret. Plus, I’m still trying to wrap my head around this pregnancy myself. We were NTNP, but due to other factors the likelihood of it happening were pretty slim. Here we are, we have known for one week, can I please wrap my own head around it before telling others?
GTKY: I have a Ford Explorer and my H has a Ford F-350. We actually just purchased them both this summer so there will be no vehicle changes anytime soon.
I have a Kia Sedona and I love it! And I was never ever ever ever going to drive a minivan! 🤣but I love it because it looks the least minivan-ish to me, especially from the front!
oh, and also, I have three boys....we get that girl stuff ALL the time.
ETA @pickle-chips just saw your reply! Lol!so YES, I have a Sedona and I love it! I also have a black one because I feel that color makes it look less minivan-ish as well! I’m a Jeep gal so this is my first Kia and I’ve been really happy with it.
Oh, and I’d love to say 4 gets easier, hahaha! But it didn’t in the case of my oldest and middle. My youngest sis a dream though, he was born May 2017 and he is still such a doll. He has the terrible three thing going on at time with fits and what not, but NOTHING like my older two. 😂 and same! Best wishes for a lovely, easy pregnancy!

How many kids do you already have? Ages? We have one daughter, she is 2.5 going on 16.
Rants/Raves: I am such a planner. My MIL lives with us and is currently using the room that I would like to change into the nursery, so that might be an awkward conversation, but I can hold off for a few months at least.
GTKY: What car do you drive? What car does YH/SO drive? Has that/will that change because of your growing family? I have an X5 that the lease is up on in the next 6-12 months. So we had already been talking about a new family car (H has a sports car that we only use when it is just the two of us or he is commuting to work). We don’t want to do minivan, but need something large enough for 2 car seats, 3 adults, and a large dog.
@pickle-chips Your handle is going to make me hungry this entire pregnancy. And definitely worth the rant there. I hate that people ask so much about kids and genders. I remember the nurses asking within an hour after I delivered when we were going to have a second.
@mamakate2011 I love that you are having #4. I can imagine it is a lot to process though. I am 1 of 6, and absolutely love having all my siblings. Combined we are a force to be reckoned with for sure.
Rants/Raves: We’ve been trying for baby #2 for almost two years and are SO excited to finally get a positive result! With that comes lots of fear and nerves that it will be a healthy pregnancy that sticks. I have way less symptoms this time around than I did with our first, so that has been making me nervous but I’m trying to stay positive!
GTKY: What car do you drive? What car does YH/SO drive? Has that/will that change because of your growing family?
I drive a Kia Sorrento and my husband drives a GMC truck. We bought my car with the hopes of having more children so we won’t need to upgrade at this time.

@btate01 oh, does your Sorento have third row seating? I'm currently looking at used inventory in our city for the Sorento and the Sedona (@mamakate2011 has me partially sold on the minivan life and I see that @ramfam2507 is also a minivan pusher hah).
How many kids do you already have? Ages? Just one, a 2.5year old son
Rants/Raves: none at the moment lol I’m sure soon though
GTKY: What car do you drive? What car does YH/SO drive? Has that/will that change because of your growing family? I have a Subaru Forester that I LOVE! It will fit 2 kids perfectly. MH drives a Tundra so that should also be okay for another but he may end up getting a crew cab next.
Question: has anyone else "popped"? I know it can't be baby bump, and it has to be bloat. I just feel like I have a bump way sooner than last time. I will admit I have a few more pounds on to start this pregnancy than my last one. I have still have noticeable bump, probably due to bloat but it doesn't come and go like bloat. It really does look like a bump, and I do not remember that from last time. Maybe because I am a second time mom? Are other STM experiencing this?

I drive a Mazda3 hatchback. I don’t think I’ll be able to do 3 across. Anyone have any suggestions on this? Or a small suv to do 3 across? I’m trying to avoid the minivan. I’m a small car girl for sure.
@DoubleUp8 I definitely popped sooner on my second, but I think it was like around 12-13 weeks? That being said, the bloat this time is out of control and I spend most of the day with my pants unbuttoned. THANK GOODNESS I am still working from home. Also, even if it is bloat, it's still because of baby. Bloat is blump is bump!
@kristah2 I am pretty sure I recognize you from Dec 18 BMB with your DD? Is that right? I was on a bit at the beginning, but didn't keep up. I was part of the Canadian cohort, but I had a different handle (ay-eff). I was much more active with my first BMB, and found that I was really overwhelmed the second go around for some reason.
@pickle-chips yes!! I didn’t keep up once they transitioned to Facebook. I am still really close with my Nov 16 group and 5 of us were pregnant together so I relied on them a lot. I was also much more overwhelmed but hoping to stick around this time.
Yay Canadian mamas!! Happy to have you around again!
@kristah2 yes! It does have third row seating and I love it. There is tons of trunk space when the third row is down in there too (and a good amount even if the third row is up). I love it because it’s small enough that it’s super easy to drive and park, but it’s got lots of room inside. I had a Kia Soul before this and this was the perfect upgrade in terms of space.
@DoubleUp8 Thank goodness I am still working from home, by end of day I feel 4 months pregnant with all the bloat. I did pull out my maternity box yesterday. I may just go ahead and use some of it for lounging around the house. I am all about the comfort.

@ramzlau and @sgrn18 I'm good I'm not alone. I think sweater dresses and leggings will be my friends this fall. I got what was called a "swing dress" at Old Navy yesterday. It's more billowy than my usual style, but it will hide the blump. Definitely getting into the looking fat but not pregnant much sooner.
I had a colleague who just delivered in January. The "old lady" in the office has the nerve to ask her if she was pregnant before she had announced anything. She looked her straight in the eye and said "no xxxxx, I've just gotten fat." 😂 The other woman didn't know how to respond. I thought it was a great come back. You never ask a woman if she's pregnant!

@pickle-chips I love you so much already. I never understood the obsession with genitals. I feel the way you do towards baby's sex when people ask what you are having and basically demand you tell them. Like whether I give birth to a kid with a vulva or a penis had ZERO impact on your life. Nothing will change for you, so why are you so invested in knowing? I've always been mind blown by this concept.
I feel like this will be a hot take.

Remember I told you this... #2 is a hellion. I love my daughter but that little girl is a pistol compared to her older brother. Majority of my mom friends with 2 or more say the 2nd always felt more difficult than the 1st. There are a few exceptions out there, so fx for you #2 is just as sweet. And then come make a deal to trade kids with me.

@ruemcclanahan@jaztastic haha I’m the opposite! Our second is a cuddly little bear, so gentle and easy going. Our oldest is very passionate. He was born with red hair and our nurse said “oh a redhead, he’s going to be a firecracker. You’ll have your hands full.” She was not wrong haha. Although he’s now more of a day walker, than a true ginger...he does seem to be mellowing out?

Rants/Raves: Hmm nothing really! Just thought I’d be SO much chiller the second pregnancy and here I am anxiously counting down the days until the first appointment.
GTKY: What car do you drive? What car does YH/SO drive? Has that/will that change because of your growing family? We have a Jeep Cherokee and a Honda Accord. We will definitely switch one out to get something with a 3rd row. We’ve been leaning towards a Toyota Highlander but the Mazda CX-9 is also appealing. Also seeing the Kia Telluride top a bunch of lists but the resale value always makes me nervous! Would love to hear experiences with any 3rd row SUVs you guys have.
@kaw726 My son turned 3 the year my daughter was born, and this one will be born a couple months before my daughter turns 3. Im three yrs younger than my brother, and he is about 3 yrs younger than our oldest sibling.
Said all that to say, I LOVE the 3 yr gap. They are close enough in age where they can play together. The youngers get a kick out of the olders, and the olders like feeling like they can help. Plus the olders are getting to the point where they are semi independent. You still feel like you have 2 small kids, but not the pain of 2 under 2.

@kaw726 My sons are 3 years apart, and this one will be 3 years and a few months younger than my youngest right now. The 3 year gap is awesome because they still play, and 3 year olds want to help and be involved. Plus, they are starting to be more independent and have a better attention span and can communicate with you better. I was able to put a movie on for my 3 year old, put the baby down somewhere safe and then go in the shower and tell my 3 year old to come tell me if the baby started crying. Made showers feel normal because I didnt have to rush as much. Also, as they get older, this gap helps too because my now 5 year old can help get my 2 year old snacks and drinks, which will come in handy when a new baby is here too.
@jaztastic@mrs_massie So happy to hear that! My daughter is a little speech delayed so hoping the extra time will be good for her too in terms of being able to express herself.
This makes me feel less stressed about going from 1 to 2. Seems so intimidating!
My daughters are 17 months apart. I thoroughly enjoy that age gap now that they’re older (2.5 and 4). They get along so well. However, it was SO hard being pregnant with a 1-year-old and then caring for a newborn with a young toddler. My third will be 3 years younger than the youngest and I’m looking forward to the two girls being able to help or at least play and entertain each other while I care for the newborn.
