    Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Acorn squash, which I’ve never actually seen in person.

    How are you feeling: Huge, but good! Anxiety is a little better, acid reflux is under control. 

    Rants/Raves: I’m having a drive-by baby shower and people are already complaining. Ya’ll can keep your hot virus breath to yourself or, alternatively, don’t come? Why is this an issue for people? Rude.

    How are you feeling: Heartburn and tired!  Tums next to my bed is saving me.  

    Rants/Raves:. Got the glider upstairs into the nursery.  DH decided he was going to wrangle it up two flights of stairs rather than ask a neighbor to come help.  Boys!!  We also discussed the baby shower which makes me feel better.  I was getting nervous, since there wasn't even a date scheduled yet.  

    GTKY: what's your all-time favorite halloween costume?  We celebrated as kids, but mostly just dressed up and handed out things (my house was the one on the block that didn't hand out candy, so it wasn't too popular.  My mom handed out pencils, spider rings etc).  I don't really remember trick or treating much.  As adults, we really don't celebrate much either.

    @cassafrass15. I think a drive by shower is a great alternative.  It is just so hard right now.  My friend is having a shower soon and there was the option to come in person or attend virtually.  I will be attending virtually, but would have totally done a drive by!  That would have felt safer for me than seeing people I didn't know.

    @dobiemom11 Thanks! I thought I was being courteous of everyone, but so far I’ve only had people make snarky remarks about how “lame” a drive-by shower is going to be. And I’m only having one (second baby) because everyone kept asking about it! Oh well. They can take their adorable party favors (mini pumpkins, frosted pumpkin cookies and pumpkin-shaped bath bombs) and we can all get on with our lives.

    Upcoming appointments: OB next week

    How are you feeling: A bit discouraged. I failed both the 1-hr and 3-hr glucose screenings with no warning, so now I'm following GD protocols. Getting a hang of the testing and the food plan, but it's all a bit overwhelming still.

    Rants/Raves: Rave: We disassembled our guest bed this weekend and assembled our crib! The nursery has officially been launched, with much still to do!

    GTKY: what's your all-time favorite halloween costume? I am super minimalist when it comes to dressing up, so if I'm going somewhere and need a costume I usually do Rosie the Riveter because I can pull it together with items from my closet and minimal planning haha.

    Upcoming appointments: 10/4 for 30w ultrasound since I was measuring big by fundal height at week 28.

    How are you feeling: Pretty good! I’m not sleeping well at all and laying down is extremely uncomfortable in all positions no matter what pillows I use, whatever support they provide doesn’t feel good for very long.

    Rants/Raves: Rave!! we had our final meeting with our doula this week Bc she’s due with a baby boy in 2 weeks-ish so we’ll reconvene when she’s back up and running. If baby girl arrives early and before she’s ready to be back in action she has a back up that she uses which is fine with me. 

    Also DH built the crib over the weekend and set up the baby monitor! It makes me so happy to have things ready!

    GTKY: what's your all-time favorite halloween costume? Ahh this is so difficult - I’m not sure I have an all time favorite. I love anything clever. Last year DH and I were Bob Ross & a painting of happy little trees (I was Bob).

    @cassafrass15 I’m also having a drive by shower! If people don’t like it they are welcome to not participate. I’m the same as you and didn’t even want to have a shower because I don’t think the drama is ever worth it, but am doing it because so many family + friends wanted to do something to celebrate!

    @peyts228 I'm sorry to hear about your GD. I failed my 1hr screening last week and am going in for the 3hr tomorrow. Also no warning. It's very stressful but there a more than a couple of ladies here who are going through the same thing!

    How are you feeling: Very emotional lately - it's hard to know if it's a little prepartum depression/season affective disorder starting to kick in vs. a very reasonable response to being pregnant, uncomfortable, and really anxious about the state of the US.  I think being very tired and having intermittent back pain is playing into my mood as well.

    Rants/Raves: ehh....nothing this week

    GTKY: what's your all-time favorite halloween costume?  My mom made a Cleopatra costume for me when I was in kindergarten, and I felt *so* cool all day  B)

    @cassafrass15 Thanks for the well wishes! Thinking good thoughts for your 3-hr test. I recommend packing a snack so that you can eat right after your final draw is done!

    And I'm with @shelmcclel-- I'm doing a drive-by shower, and just focusing on the enthusiastic folks and not the gloomy gooses!

    @shelmcclel I think a drive-by shower sounds fun, personally. It’s definitely a lot less time and emotional investment for the guests, which I thought would be popular!? Oh well, like you said - they can participate or they can piss off! Ok, maybe not exactly like you said...

    How are you feeling: This has been a challenging week. It's been a lot of new information to take in and adjust to. 

    Rants/Raves: I have been sleeping very soundly, which feels so good, but then I want to keep sleeping when my alarm goes off!

    GTKY: what's your all-time favorite halloween costume? I was a homemade snowman once when I was little, and it was super cute!

    @feather_heather. I have been having that conversation about the registry with my grandmother.  She said she wanted to buy the PNP, so when I saw it on sale for 60 bucks off, I let her know. Now she tells me that she still has 60 bucks to spend and what do I want?  We have gone round and round with me telling her that there is a registry and here are the links.  That way it will be a surprise from her, but she wants to be sure it will be something I like!  I spent months picking those things out, so I am sure we will like them.  

    Are you registered at an actual store?  People might be waiting to go shopping closer to the date (I know this weekend!). I tend to only go off registry for clothes or books, but still pick something off the registry.  Good luck and looking forward to hearing how it went!

    How are you feeling: I’m okay! I’m back at work, so I’m on my feet a little more (getting from the parking lot to where I actually need to be is a journey).

    @dobiemom11 - haha yeah my mom said my nana was just planning on putting cash in an envelope and my mom helped her order something instead. I’m registered at buybuybaby, so someone could go to the store to buy something last minute if they needed to! Idk maybe I’m weird, but I always buy something as soon as I get a registry link - because I want to be able to pick something out and not just buy whatever is leftover

    @feather_heather. I tend to do that as well, but sometimes wait a bit if I can pick it up in store (but normally still get something a couple weeks in advance).  I have been terrible about checking on our registry all the time (even before any shower announcement was made and the link shared).  I keep telling myself it is so I can be aware of any packages coming to the house, since our delivery people seem to hide the packages everywhere.  But really I am being nosey.

    Just had one this morning 

    How are you feeling: 
    Pretty good! Other than waking up for a few hours each night and occasional tailbone pain, I feel pretty lucky that I feel this good. 

    Rants/Raves: 
    I had my shower for our families this weekend thrown by my mom and MIL. It went pretty well (our family parties are usually kind of a mess) and it was fun to see everyone! I have one more shower this coming weekend, just for some close friends. One of my friends is planning it and apparently she's going all out with decorations and everything! She won't tell me anything about it because she doesn't want me to stress so I'm super excited to see what she has planned!! The ONLY downside is that it's all outside in my backyard and it's supposed to be a high of 57 😬 hope the forecast changes!

    Questions:
    The midwife I saw for my appointment said, "we'll start the NST next time" and I was like, oh ok, sure. Then when I got home I looked up more about it and I saw that they usually do it when there's a risk of GD, preeclampsia, or the baby is small or not very active. They never mentioned any of those things to me, I passed my 1 hour glucose test... does anyone know if this is just normal procedure at 32 weeks?

    GTKY: what's your all-time favorite halloween costume?
    This is tough, I feel like I had so many! I think it's a tie between the Hi-C juice box I made complete with pvc pipe for a straw (I was 20 when I made this, by the way 😂) and professor McGonagall a few years ago for a "Very Harry Halloween" party at work. My friend was Snape and we played the parts most of the day too (except when talking to clients). 

    Honorable mention is my cat costume from when I was about 7, basically I just wore black but my mom made a fuzzy headband with ears and a fuzzy tail to pin onto my pants and I literally still wear that "costume" every year for handing out candy because it's so easy.

    Upcoming appointments: 10/8 (down to 2 week checkups! Plus the non-stress test and the growth ultrasound each once a week - So appts Tuesday,  Thursday and Friday so my leave is earlier than anticipated plus because the kids are back and I’m too high risk.) 

    How are you feeling: My hip/sciatic nerve is shorn

    Rants/Raves: My interim superintendent and I had a meeting today and he was so nice and reassuring about my leaving early. I wish he was the permanent! Also, I’ve been sleeping sitting up on our recliner couch because it hurts so bad in bed laying on my hip/left side all night. 

    Questions: How’s everyone doing mentally? This is definitely not a “traditional pregnancy” thanks to Covid but I hope everyone is feeling ok!

    GTKY: what's your all-time favorite halloween costume? I love Halloween but I’m really looking forward to making my belly a pumpkin this year! I need to find a plus size maternity orange shirt and I’ll make it with my Cricut!

    GTKY: what's your all-time favorite halloween costume? I made my son a Bam Bam costume when he was 1yo. My grandmother always made me costumes when I was little and I was really happy I could carry that on.
