Trying to Get Pregnant

R/R: Happy Friday!! Made it through another week of school! We got great news yesterday: DH found out that he got the promotion he applied for a couple weeks ago! We are so excited about it!

Looking forward to this weekend. We're having my parents, sister, and my brother and his family over for pizza, wings, and football on Sunday. My sister will come up Saturday and spend the weekend which will be a ton of fun. Should be a great weekend!

CS/Q: still negative OPKs. This was O day last cycle. Not looking great for this one. Hopefully soon

  • @gingermama29 HAPPY FRIDAY! I'm so excited YH got the promotion! That's awesome. I hope you have an awesome weekend with your family, especially because you have something super cool to celebrate. I hope O doesn't hold out too much longer!

R/R: My faculty advisor and I will be talking today about what our work together is going to look like. I still have 5.5 semesters in the program so we have plenty of time to collaborate. I'm really excited about it! It'll also be about a week from today that I hear back on the graduate committee position which is really exciting! Lots of really cool professional stuff happening recently and I couldn't be more thrilled!

  • @galentine I love reorganizing in general. One of my FAVORITE things is a freshly reorganized shelving unit. I used to sit at my dad's house as a kid organizing all of his CDs and DVDs in alphabetical order.

  • @gingermama29 congrats to YH! Sorry O is being such a witch (with a B but I thought this was more seasonably appropriate)
@ashaislurking exciting stuff for you! FX for the graduate committee position!
@galentine see my UO from yesterday  :D I actually love organizing but I think that might be why I don't like The Home Edit, it's pretty and yes I wish my organizing was prettier but sometimes we need more function. I get so mad when I pick out cute bins and things but then my stuff doesn't fit right or the bins don't fit right and I can't just go buy out all of The Container Store.

@galentine hi and welcome! Your name is familiar to me from my lurking days before I officially joined this board (yikes, that sounds kinda creepy. Sorry!). I'm excited for all of you rejoining us here! I've been kinda curious about Home Edit! I might have to check it out. Maybe it'll inspire some cleaning and reorganizing that I desperately need to do 😂

@krash_ thanks! FX you hear back today and everything is good!

@ashaislurking, I always alphabetized my cds and movies too! And I also enjoy just sitting and staring at a freshly reorganized space. After we reorganized our storage room a few years ago, I would just go stand in there and stare at the shelves.

@krash_, LOL, yes UO with me! But I agree about the lack of functionality to a certain extent. Like I don't think rainbow organization works at all in my kitchen pantry, but i love it for bookshelves and closets. I followed The Home Edit long before they were Netflix-famous. I've had rainbow bookshelves for years!

WAYDTGKU: temping (or trying to), prenatals, FF, CM

R/R: Rant - I am struggling getting accurate, consistent temps. My sleep has been all over the place lately, so some nights its fine and others I am up multiple times a night.

CS/Q: I discarded Wednesday's temp since I was up a million times it felt like. Today, I temped at 5AM, which is an hour and a half earlier than when I normally temp. Would you discard? FF is saying since its not consistent it might not be as accurate. Thoughts?

ETA: why can't I figure out how to get my chart to link here?!?!

  • @krash_ Ugh don't you hate it when tracking apps rub stats like that in your face? I've personally used their app to track my OPKs for six cycles. Don't get too down about it. I hope you hear back on your HSG soon!
@daisy528 I'd say just try to get as consistent of temps as you can. I know it's way easier said than done, especially with restless sleep. I usually only discard temps if they're way out of my normal range for that point in my cycle. If they're not way out of range I just note any abnormalities in my notes. Makes it easier to track.

  • @gingermama29 @daisy528 I actually already saw when they did the HSG that my right tube is blocked but I'm waiting for the official results from the radiologist and for my dr to follow up. I'm just anxious to talk about next steps and my options.

@daisy528 I usually try to temp around the same time but as soon as I wake up. So if I'm awoken at 5 am that's too early so I'll fall back asleep (hopefully) and temp closer to my default time (6:45). If I wake up anytime within 30 mins of my default time I just keep it as my default time and track it. Sorry if this is confusing but when you have more cycles of temps (hopefully you wont) you'll start to know what is normal for you folicular or luteal temps. Sometimes I will take it again if I don't think it is right or normal. Also taking melatonin before bed has helped me stay asleep in those early morning hours that I was waking up.

  • @ashaislurking @krash_ that's definitely helpful! I try to do it as soon as I get up. I need a new BBT thermometer I think though, because mine takes FOREVER to process a reading.

    TW other children...
When I was TTC my first two, I remember reading that a temp is only "accurate" after 4-5 hours of straight sleep. Is that still a thing? I think that's one of the things I keep getting wrapped up in trying to manage.

  • @gingermama29 congrats on YH's promotion! Your weekend plans sound really great and I also hope O shows up for the football watch party (but... like... in a timely fashion so you can do something about it.)

@ashaislurking I hope your chat w/ fac advisor goes well and you find some exciting topics to explore over the remainder of your Master's.

@galentine first of all, I've noticed you lurking before and I love that you love Leslie Knope. MH and I finished watching Parks and Rec a month ago and we really loved it. Also, good luck with reorganizing. I have to be in a very particular kind of mood for that and I totally abstain from any organizational shows because I don't want to feel inadequate.

@krash_ Thanks Premom (*insert rude gesture here*). Hopefully those HSG results don't take too long.

@daisy528 Sorry to hear that your sleep isn't consistent. BBT is an imperfect art and obviously temping at different times doesn't give you a great picture. I personally wouldn't worry about discarding/not discarding temps in the follicular phase since bbt is not a predictor of O. If you want a prettier chart, discard away.

    Month/Cycle: 8/9

WAYDTGKU: Clomid + OPK + TI this cycle; PNV, Omega3, Ubiquinol, Extra Folate, D3, baby aspirin, progesterone after O. Blood work to check for other autoimmune conditions & urology appointment for DH.

R/R: I'm really starting to be emotionally affected by the fact that I can't see my family (they're all in Canada and Canada has a 14-day quarantine req't upon entry plus a trip there would require air travel). Both mine and MH's families have high-risk individuals so, if we do travel, not doing a strict quarantine isn't an option. So, no matter how I try to parse it, there is just no good solution for me to see my family until there's a COVID vaccine.

Otherwise, I'm very excited that I'll be getting a haircut this weekend and also having a couple of colleagues over for a BBQ at the same time. Even though the salons here are open, I don't feel comfortable going so one of my colleague's g/f, who is a hairdresser, is coming over to our place to give me and another colleague a haircut and then we'll also BBQ.

    CS/Q: nothing to see here

@daisy528 I heard 3-4 hours, so if I wake at 4:30, I take it and I get up. Then if I end up falling back asleep in bed, I'll take it again when I wake. I put whichever seems to make more sense (the lower temp usually).

@Kenneylynn3 Ugh I'm sorry the tree removal people didn't show. Have you called the company to see what's going on?

AFM: My faculty mentor and I can't have short conversations haha! We talked for 2.5 hours, brainstormed a BUNCH of ideas, I helped her with another article she's writing, and we just spent a little time catching up. Popping the rest in a spoiler for potentially triggering mental health topics.
Our plan is to work on a couple of articles, one focused on suicide prevention in the LGBT+ community and one focused on tips for professionals on working with LGBT+ clients. We also brainstormed some other article ideas (advocacy, rural communities, language in research, etc.) that we may or may not do depending on how well received these articles are and how much time we have to work together. We may also do some presentations or panel discussions based on our articles and we'll discuss that as it comes up. I'm -SO- excited to start working with her and think it will be a blast.
