Better late than never? And I also got to experience the magical bump glitches that everyone's been talking about, lol.

How far along are you?  20+4

How are you feeling (symptoms, mentally/emotionally)? Good! Still have the occasional breast pain/tenderness but mentally & emotionally I'm in a really good place.

Any upcoming appointments? Not until next month; I had my anatomy scan yesterday which was awesome and all looked "normal" (pic in the US thread) and I had a general OB follow-up today with the doc I like. I also have all of my monthly U/S scheduled with MFM and my OB appts scheduled into the first part of January, and none of them are with the Dr. I don't like!

GTKY: Who wins the fall flavor battle, apple or pumpkin? If I can have both mixed together, I'll totally go for both. But if I have to pick one over the other, pumpkin's going to win 99% of the time.

How are you feeling (symptoms, mentally/emotionally)?  General pregnancy symptoms: heartburn, crap sleep, intermittent nausea. They usual. Mentally, still anxious since we found out about the echogenic bowel at the AS.

Any upcoming appointments? Phone appt with genetics on Friday, regular OB next Wednesday.

GTKY: Who wins the fall flavor battle, apple or pumpkin? Apple definitely. I don’t hate pumpkin though.

@WildMagelet I’m glad you wont be seeing that dumb doctor anytime soon.
  • @moguippy Hopefully the genetics counselor can give you some solid info and help put your mind at a little more ease.

How are you feeling (symptoms, mentally/emotionally)?
I’m feeling okay. I’ve had some Braxton Hicks the past couple of nights. I texted my midwife and we think it’s just stress ((MH’s work schedule is very much in question at the moment and we are supposed to drive back cross country together, but his window for leaving is like 3-6 weeks wide 😳🤦🏻‍♀️)) and baby’s position. I finally got him to move last night and they stopped. But I’m also get nervous about the BH because I had a ton of them right before my water broke 4 weeks early with DS2.

    Any upcoming appointments?
    21 October

GTKY: Who wins the fall flavor battle, apple or pumpkin?
I mean I love them both. I don’t want to choose but if you forced me, maybe Apple?

@WildMagelet Were you able to sort out the double appointments and some of the other issues from the doc who is such a PITA?

@moguippy I hope the genetics appointment helps find some answers for you.

How are you feeling (symptoms, mentally/emotionally)? Feeling huge, already have itchy skin and new stretch marks, trouble sleeping, exhaustion is still hanging around

Any upcoming appointments? Tuesday for follow up AS for missed images and regular ob visit

GTKY: Who wins the fall flavor battle, apple or pumpkin? Apple hands down. I could drink caramel apple cider every day!

How are you feeling (symptoms, mentally/emotionally)?
Doing well, feeling baby move around daily is very calming

    Any upcoming appointments?
Just had a virtual OB appointment 😂 basically just said hi and I was doing fine. I forgot to mention my hip pain though! Next time I guess

GTKY: Who wins the fall flavor battle, apple or pumpkin?
💯 Apple.... Also I've been eating a lot of apples lately. If you ever see a Sweet Tango apple in the store buy it! Sooooo good
  • @WildMagelet yay the good doctor!!!

@mdfarmchick 😬 tell that baby to settle down

@moguippy I hope the generics appointment goes well and they can answer all your questions
  • I forgot to add that I do find that apples are giving me the worst heart burn! So I have to have my tums on hand when I eat an apple.

@mdfarmchick Following my next U/S on 10/22, I am currently scheduled for appointments every two weeks, no duplicates. Monthly U/S with MFM to monitor my progress because of the GD, and monthly general OB follow-ups to check my progress with everything else and meet the rest of the local OB team. Obviously as I progress or if there are complications they may request to see me more frequently in one or both offices, but for now I'm scheduled bi-weekly for one thing or another through Wk 37. The "good doctor", as we're referring to her, thought staggering the appointments would be better so that they can have time to get my results in from MFM between visits, and then I would be a little more spaced out and not have to do back-to-back in the same week.

I just had my genetics appointment. She basically started off by saying based on our family history and the normal NIPT/NT we are at a low risk of anything actually being wrong and that the baby might just have an isolated echogenic bowel. Which is good.... but then we spent 45 minutes going over all the things that it could be and it just gave me so much anxiety. The big things are a chromosome abnormality on something other than 13, 18, 21 or XY; a rare type of Cystic Fibrosis, a virus that I have that I passed to baby, gastrointestinal anomaly or some other genetic condition. Or it could still be any of the common chromosomal abnormalities since NIPT/NT are not diagnostic tests. She went over our options which are basically do nothing or get an amnio, but I would have to get that within the next week. Which just brings up the “do we want to know for certain or do we just accept the risk is low and move on with our lives?”  Which is going to cause more anxiety/stress? She said the risk of complications from an amnio are 1/500 and they are generally safe. I’m leaning toward not doing the amnio bc I probably wouldn’t do anything with the information gathered from that, and if I did miscarry I would probably never forgive myself.  She said that even if it goes away by the next ultrasound, it is still considered a soft marker.  I asked if they would do chromosomal testing at birth since there was a soft marker and she said not unless there was something else wrong. So even if there was an abnormality, as long as the baby “looks normal” at birth we may not know until something else goes wrong (missing milestones, etc). Which is frustrating. I’m a planner and I don’t like to wait until something goes wrong. I think I just have to force myself to accept that the risk of abnormalities is low and hope everything will be fine.
  • @moguippy - The next week?!  My understanding was that amnio didn't have a hard ending deadline, they just wouldn't do it until after 15 weeks.

I'm sorry it ended up causing you more anxiety in the end =(

  • She said it had to be done by 22 weeks. I’ll be 21 weeks tomorrow. I’m leaning toward not doing it. There is literally nothing other than the echogenic bowel.  No physical anomalies, no abnormal screenings. I’m not even 30.

She did bring up that my hemoglobin F is slightly elevated and that it could either be from the pregnancy or I could be a carrier for a bunch of different anemias. So we are getting H tested for that as well that since insurance should cover it. I’m not really worried about that bc my level was just barely higher than it should be.
  • @moguippy I’m so sorry that you are going to have a tough week ahead trying to make a decision. You and your husband will know what the right decision is and just be confident in that decision and don’t allow yourself to ask the what if’s after you make your decision.
  • @moguippy I'm so sorry you're dealing with this and having to make this decision. All I can say is go with what your intuition is telling you and try not to second guess it. If everything else looked fine and baby is growing well and you feel well, hopefully it will continue to go that way and you will feel confident if you do decide not to do the amnio.
  • @moguippy I’m not super active on the PGAL thread, but I just wanted to chime in and say that I think your reasoning is really sound, and I hope that this time next year, this worry will be just a blip in the past and you’ll have a healthy little 7 month old. ❤️
  • @moguipy glad to hear there is low risk of abnormalities but sorry about the other stress. Go with what makes you comfortable ❤️
  • @moguippy I’m so sorry that this is weighing on your mind. I’m going to hope that it was nothing and like @hannahbananas11 said that next year it’s just a memory of a tough time. Keep us posted please!
  • @moguippy - My heart goes out to you, your H, and your little one. Just trust you'll best decision for your family, whichever way you guys decide to go.  <3
