What habits, goals, or resolutions are you focusing on this week?

How's everything going?

What has you motivated or struggling this week?

What's a "small win" you have from last week?

Re: Healthy Habits w/o 9.21

  • What habits, goals, or resolutions are you focusing on this week? Walking 5 of 7 days and getting more water in.

How's everything going? So far alright. Walked 2 days so far.

What has you motivated or struggling this week?
I only hit my water goal once last week. Not looking good so far this week either.

What's a "small win" you have from last week? Walked 5 out of 7 days.

  • What habits, goals, or resolutions are you focusing on this week? Mostly continuing last week and building habits

How's everything going? Not bad, was able to work out 5 of 7 days last week, which is a huge step up from what I had been doing. I've also been feeling less anxious/stressed about the "runs," which is making it easier to get out and do them (they're mostly walking, doing C25K which slowly incorporates running, but normally I stress myself out just thinking about it).

What has you motivated or struggling this week? Plantar fascia is acting up, which often happens when I try to run. I supinate pretty badly, which I think contributes to it since I have a weird footstrike. Weight also isn't budging (yes, I'm also watching my food intake), so I think I need to just give up on that. As for motivation, the weather has been great for getting me to want to get out and do some exercise

What's a "small win" you have from last week? I got a workout accountability buddy. It was actually her idea, but it does help motivate me when she sends me a message by noon that her workout is already done (and she lives in CA, meaning it's 3 hours earlier for her).
  • What habits, goals, or resolutions are you focusing on this week? Going for walks or doing yoga 3x a week

How's everything going? I really need to kick my yoga habit back up! Haven't done it since July so I'm doing a terrible job there.

What has you motivated or struggling this week? My struggle is my darn legs. They feel so achy when I'm just sitting. I clearly have not been moving around much. I need to get myself out of my chair during the work day. I think I'm feeling some loss of flexibility. DH actually would like to wake up early in the AM and do walks before work but he's AWFUL with mornings lol. He can never wake up early for a habit, only when absolutely necessary for work or something robotics team related.

What's a "small win" you have from last week? Did a couple walks last week now that it's finally reaching that cool comfortable level.

  • What habits, goals, or resolutions are you focusing on this week? This is week 3 of 4 doing a healthy living reset with no sugar, dairy, or processed foods and I want to continue meal prepping so I don't dive into an unhealthy convenience food.

How's everything going? Good so far! I prepped lunches for the week and have healthy snacks at work.

What has you motivated or struggling this week? Some sugar cravings but mostly I am feeling really good not having the sugar crashes from eating candy all day long.

What's a "small win" you have from last week? I finally got out hiking again for the first time since summer got super hot in June. I love hiking because I get good exercise but also get to spend time soaking up the sunshine

@akoros that's a huge bummer about the plantar fasciitis (sp?), but I think that's great that you have an accountability partner. I frequently wish for someone to exercise with or at least hold me accountable to exercise. I think I would exercise more, if that was the case.
@inthewoods23 is there a particular yoga thing you follow? I have always wanted to get into yoga and I really should just make it a habit, but I have yet to find one that I really enjoy/ doesn't suck up all my free time.
@KNB1027 welcome! sounds like you have done well so far if you're on week 3. I feel like I should ask if you have any good recipes to share? (I am dairy free and the same things tend to get boring.)
ETA: so I just went and looked in the newbie thread. I guess you aren't new, but I had not seen your name before...
    So hello! 🙋😂

  • @Kenneylynn3 I haven’t hit my water goal in weeks, so that is a really good thing for me to work on. You have probably tried something similar being dairy free, but this roasted chickpea salad is super filling and one of my favorite plant based recipes.

@akoros I love C25K! I have done it a couple times and did the C210K program once last year as well. Since you have been diagnosed with PF and used the word supinate I’m guessing you have done this, but have you been professionally fitted for running shoes? Not having shin splints from new shoes was a game changer for me. I am a major over-pronator.

@inthewoods23 This has been the first week here in months that it has been cool enough to do anything outside, but I would imagine it has been cooler there for a while? I guess you probably have a different definition of “cool/comfortable” up north haha

@KNB1027 I absolutely love hiking and I am so sad there is no where near me to hike where I currently live. Where do you like to go hiking?

What habits, goals, or resolutions are you focusing on this week? I did really well actually sticking with weight watchers last week (after about a month of failing) so that was a big win. I did awesome with actually exercising though, so this week I’m going to try to stay on plan and also run at least 2-3 times.

How's everything going? I guess I answered both above.

What has you motivated or struggling this week? The thought that I will probably get unbenched this week and I want to be in better shape before a potential pregnancy.

What's a "small win" you have from last week? 5.5 lb weight loss in 1 week! (Amazing what happens when you actually stick to a diet plan haha)
  • @Kenneylynn3 It's really helpful, even though it's just virtual (she lives on the opposite coast). Yesterday I totally wasn't feeling a workout but used her to guilt myself into it, which then inspired her to do hers.

@fitzfizz No, I haven't, but I really should get fitted. I learned about supination because I was complaining about how all my shoes get super worn on the outer edge (to the point where I've been known to fall when walking in heels because it's so bad) and then found out that it's actually a "thing". I did some research on shoes to get ones that are good for supinators, which did help a lot (my previous sneakers were always uncomfortable), but an actual fitting would be a really good idea before I hurt myself. Btw, that's great about the weight loss, congrats!
  • @fitzfizz thanks for the recipe. I will definitely try it! Congrats on the weight loss and yay for getting unbenched fx

  • @Kenneylynn3 Hey there! I am not new, I've actually been here off and on (mostly off) for the past 5 years while we have been trying for #1. We are getting ready to start IVF so I decided to jump back on. I would love to talk recipes! I have celiac disease and a casein intolerance so I am great at the gluten free and pretty good with the dairy free but since dairy just makes me feel crappy and doesn't actually destroy my insides I tend to slip back into my cheese and chocolate habit.

This was my jam last week -- https://www.eatingonadime.com/turkey-sweet-potato-chili-recipe/

I have no great tips for water drinking other than I get more water when I am drinking out of a cup with a straw so I have a 20 oz cup at work and keep refilling it.

@fitzfizz Congrats on the weight loss! I love it when the scale reflects the hard work! DH and I usually go down to the Wichita Mountain in Lawton, OK, there are some great trails and lots of wildlife. I grew up in Wyoming/Colorado so I have had to change my expectations for hiking in Oklahoma

@akoros Have you gotten fit for running shoes from a running store before? I struggled with shin splints and foot pain until they were able to see that my ankle needed more support from my shoes. That was the best investment I made in running

@inthewoods23 what kind of yoga do you like to do? Have you been going to classes in person or taking them on zoom? I struggle to stay engaged with zoom classes
