How are you feeling?: Pretty good overall.
Rants/Raves: Work is a new level of crazy every day. Our social service director gave her resignation then just didn't come in or respond to messages Friday or today. It's been a mess getting things planned and lined up for residents to D/C home. My other issue is my administrator was talking in morning meeting this morning about how she reached out to the social service assistant (who is on maternity leave) asking her to help since there is no one else currently. Isn't this an HR issue since she was on a pre planned leave and they should have known she was taking the full 12 weeks? I'm now internally freaking out that I will constantly be bothered while on my PTO and maternity leave. I'm a director of rehab and considered a department head. thankfully we are contracted into the nursing home, so hopefully my direct boss in my company would have my back as far as planning ahead on covering my leave.

With my first we didn't have a name picked out until the day after he was born. During pregnancy we just referred to him as "he" or baby. We did not find out the gender this time, so it's name currently is "the baby" even though my son says "he" all the time

Rants/Raves: we started painting the nursery this weekend it looks great I can’t wait to show the finished product! Going to Restoration Hardware Outlet this or next weekend to hopefully pick out crib, dressing table and rocker!

Questions: when do you plan to have nursery complete? When did STM have their first one complete?

while we decided not to share his name we call him baby or by his name! We try to be careful on the phone w family not to let it slip it’s so hard keeping it a secret!

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Guinea Pig

Upcoming appointments: I have a second AS on 10/8 since she was too active and they couldn’t get all the measurements.

How are you feeling?: Physically I’m good. Still working out consistently and sleeping well. Mentally/Emotionally sort of just stuck in a rut.

Rants/Raves: Our original buyers on our cabin fell through, but 2 days later we got a cash offer! Unfortunately the new buyer doesn’t want to close until 10/15 so we’re just waiting, and waiting....

    Questions:

GTKY: I was just wondering about this the other day...What do you tend to call the baby when talking about them? Do you use your planned name for them/any nicknames you've come up with or just "the baby"? STM+ -- did your older kids have a nickname while you were pregnant? We just call the baby “her” or to DS “your sister” we’re keeping the name quiet and if we tell DS he will definitely let it slip!

@briemo We haven’t started doing anything nursery-wise yet. Our plan is to have the room re-painted end of October/beginning of November and plan on buying furniture in November. But for us I’m holding off because we have a lot of big house projects planned once the cabin closes and I’d rather have a painter come in just once rather than multiple trips. I think with DS we started around 6 months PG and it worked out just fine.
  • @briemo We have three kids and have never *finished* a nursery before they were born somehow 😂 They always are in a bassinet in our room at least the first 3 months or so anyway, so we don’t rush ourselves to get the room (or half room since this little one will be sharing with big sister) fully ready.

We were team green with our first three, and ended up giving them in-utero nicknames based on their nursery themes, so we had Little Monster (cute monster theme), Little Bear (woodland), and Sprout (farm). This is the first time we’ve found out but we haven’t settled on a name so she is “Baby Girl”.

we always refer to them as baby, or this one is just baby girl. I’ve never been creative enough for a fun nickname!

@briemo the nursery for my first was finished just a couple weeks before his due date. We didn’t change much for our second so his was always done. Or always incomplete, I never did his name sign. Poor second child! I’m finally doing his name sign now for when he moves in with big brother next month! We are sending both boys to my parents for a week mid October to redo the boys’ room for them and we will paint and mostly redecorate the nursery then too hopefully.

How are you feeling?:  Great this week! Can't think of any complaints for the last 7 days, which is a first—and potentially only time this will happen, so I'm celebrating.
Rants/Raves:  Had my first prenatal yoga session today (virtually). It was pretty great, so I'm eager to keep it up for the remainder. I decided to go with a local studio and was pleasantly surprised to find a half dozen moms attending the class with me.
GTKY:  We say "the baby" and when I'm feeling gender, I mostly default to he, though I try and switch it up a bit. Though I'm somewhat convinced baby's a he after seeing baby's face at the 24w ultrasound. Just looks like a he to me.
sheviolentlyknits I love the idea of naming after the nursery theme! Ours will be travel themed, so not sure what's a creative idea?
@briemo speaking of nursery, we'll start working on ours when we move into our place early Nov. I'm really hoping its complete in time, but we'll see. Also, thanks for the reminder on Restoration Hardware. I was trying to remember that store's name for looking at furniture.
amm126 Yikes, that's a lot going on at work. Agreed, totally not cool to contact the person out on leave.
krisspy22 Glad to hear your home is closing, even if it's a month away.
  • @lavenderclouds hmm, if we were doing a travel theme I’d probably call baby “my copilot” 😂 maybe “Little Trucker” Or “Captain”
  • @amm126 yikes that's absurd about them contacting her during maternity leave! Hopefully at your level and with your boss you wouldn't have the same thing happen but it creates a weird feeling in a workplace to even see that happening to others, like what are the expectations around here?!
@briemo Ugh waiting 6 weeks between appts is terrible! Early on I think I waited 5 or 6 b/c my doctor was on vacation and then I was.
@lavenderclouds Ooh I love my prenatal class too, it's Monday evenings so I definitely don't always feel like it's what I want to be doing beforehand, but always so happy I did. I saw your ultrasound picture last week and also kind of thought boy, haha! Have you/your H generally had a feeling either way, before the ultrasound?

How are you feeling?: Lots of indigestion and some heartburn the last week. Having to pee a LOT and it seems like I can feel the urge come on in real-time when Baby pokes me in the bladder although I don't know if that's imagined.
Rants/Raves: Rant - I seem to have hurt my right glute, I was assuming I did a too-deep squat during yoga but I googled and hope it's not a sign of sciatica. Haven't some people here had that recently? Did one side of your butt hurt when you developed it?! Rave - We're watching Halt and Catch Fire on Netflix and it's amazing. I didn't at all think I would get interested in a show about people working with computers but the characters and story are so engaging.
Questions: Just the sciatica thing and also, how often is everyone feeling baby move at this point? I thought my Dr. said last time that at 24 weeks you should feel movement every hour (I'm not sure I am, more like she gets wiggly every few hours and often when I lay down), but I keep reading it's not till 28 weeks that they want you to count?
GTKY: We usually refer to her by her initials - BHC. Sometimes also Chubbs which is our standard catch-all nickname for all babies (and dogs) haha.

We called our daughter Nugget, and this one is Dumpling.

@briemo We will hopefully have it done by December it'll be done-ish (minus or including the crib - still debating when to get that; not a priority as of now). It'll most likely be a work in progress even after she's born, though. With our first it was an empty room until she started taking naps in there when she got her crib. We had the time to wait then, because it was just her and we weren't in a pandemic. Now I might want to be a little more prepared ahead of time.
@amm126 That really sucks about work. I can't believe they would contact someone during their leave; I really hope they don't do the same to you.
@krisspy22 Glad you were able to find a new buyer so quickly! Waiting is the wooooorst.
@whitealbum29 I've been feeling the baby throughout the day, but I haven't been keeping track of it. Definitely in the mornings and the evenings, and usually in the afternoon.
  • @whitealbum29 I definitely don’t feel her every hour. I’m 22+1 and have only really been feeling consistent movement for the past 2 weeks but it’s usually in the morning right after waking up, when I lay/sit down on the couch at night, and maybe a couple jabs here and there during the day. I think it also depends on what and when I eat.

How are you feeling?: My hip is starting to give me trouble but otherwise pretty good (I mean, except for stairs being hard 😂)

    Rants/Raves: I love fall

Questions: has anyone done a virtual appointment? What on earth do we do? Just say "hey"?

GTKY: we aren't really into nicknames and just use the baby
  • @amm126 😬 I can see contacting her out of panic since things seem crazy at your office... But if I'm answering a week call you better believe I'm logging it as work time. I think I got one call on my maternity leave last time but the guy covering for me was super lazy and he just wasn't following my instructions 🙄 which reminds me I need to get a leave plan to my boss
  • @whitealbum29 my doctor doesn’t have us start tracking until 28 weeks but I feel movement throughout the day now at 23. Definitely not consistent at all at this point but enough at least that it’s reassuring!
  • edited September 2020
@whitealbum29 I think it would be crazy to feel them every hour at this point. The app reminded me a week or so ago that they sleep 14-18 hours at this point. I think, mostly during the day. So I've only been feeling them a handful of times a day for about 10m each time when they are active. And nope, we had no feelings one way or the other boy/girl before the u/s.
    sheviolentlyknits  :D  great suggestions, thanks!
jumpy57 I was wondering this too: what the point of virtual appointments are. Let me know how it goes. I've essentially been refusing to do them bc I don't understand the point.

My 3 year old was Peanut until we decided his name. Which is Robert. Then my niece started calling him Robinhood. Thank goodness that didnt stick.
Since someone pointed out to me that I often refer to my one year old as "The Little One" I have been trying to call him by his name more. This i have been trying g to refer to LO by her name. Annabelle.
  • @whitealbum29, I havent been counting kicks but I feel her daily.  Her kicks are getting stronger and she's starting to develop a pattern of active or resting.

Rants/Raves: Lately, more than ever, I’ve been feeling sad about how Covid is forcing us to miss out on so many “normal” opportunities and activities with my toddler...

Questions: Anyone else feel like the fruit sizes on The Bump are silly? Lol This week is grapefruit for me and I feel like that’s going back in time...

GTKY: I was just wondering about this the other day...What do you tend to call the baby when talking about them? Do you use your planned name for them/any nicknames you've come up with or just "the baby"? STM+ -- did your older kids have a nickname while you were pregnant? All kinds of things... nugget, bub, baby, little brother or I try out a possible name. We’re down to like 4-5 names so I’m still just trying them on for size at this point...
  • @AshleyGemini24 I hear you about the belly comments. Whenever I see my mom, she always says something like "Yup, you're pregnant" or makes some comment about how there is a baby in my belly. Yes...I'm pregnant...so that's why I look it? It's a weird comment to me.
@oaktree6 I was thinking this the other day, with fall starting; how we'd normally go apple picking or go to fall festivals, and we can't do that. Well, there are some farms open that are doing things like that, but I don't want to take any risks right now.
  • @AshleyGemini24 Yes!! She was bouncing all around last night, and then I moved over on the couch so DH could feel, and then nothing!!

@oaktree6 Covid seriously sucks. I’m so bummed about all the things we’re missing. 😞

@oaktree6 Haha I always think that about the fruits they give me on Ovia. Last week it was a bunch of grapes and before that I can't remember what it was but I definitely remember thinking, "How is a bunch of grapes bigger than what it was last week?!" It also told me yesterday that my uterus is now the size of a soccer ball and I'm just like, sorry I simply do not believe you. Maybe that one's true tho :joy:
@supersara2 @krisspy22 @lavenderclouds @aels12 Yeah she seems to have a bit of a schedule and to be pretty active in the late mornings, then take a break for a bit, and almost always she gets active at bed time...but I'm trying not to track it too closely b/c I think it will make me overanalyze! I'm glad the hourly thing is closer to 28 weeks!
@jumpy57 I haven't done virtual, it seems like it would be helpful if I just had a bunch of simple questions...but having the doctor hear the heartbeat at each appt feels important to me so I think it would seem a little pointless!
@AshleyGemini24 Ugh that is annoying about the unsolicited comments! Mostly it's accepted among adults that random comments about people's bodies are rude but that just seems to go out the window for some people when pregnancy is involved, grr.
  • Yes, I hate the pregnant body comments. I'm really tall and thin so (more with my first pregnancy) I would get "oh wow you don't even look pregnant! I looked like a whale when I was pregnant" I still don't know what the proper response to that is. It also hurt my feelings to not "look" pregnant, even though compared to regular me I did

How are you feeling?: Still good! I've never had indigestion or heartburn but I think I'm starting to feel some of that at night.
Rants/Raves: I feel bad that we're so busy packing that I haven't focused on many baby things so hopefully next month will be a good time for that.
    Questions:

It's a good, neutral nickname for team green haha.

@briemo I will probably not have a nursery completed at all
:# I feel like an unprepared FTM! If we end up finding a house within the next month, then it's likely, but if we're still temporarily in an apartment, there's really no point in decorating if there's a chance we will move soon. It will just be the baby basics.
@whitealbum29 My doctor mentioned that I should start paying attention to kicks but it still feels really sporadic at this point for me.
@AshleyGemini24 I always tell people the sure way to make sure the baby won't move, is for my husband to put his hand on my belly  :D
@oaktree6 Yes! I specifically used Ovia this time b/c the Bump's coconut felt so much larger than my other two apps.

had one Tuesday, baby is measuring 1 week ahead, 76%. Everything looks good except I have a partial something umbilical, basically the umbilical chord is growing in the side of the placenta. And pupps, and SPD. They are continuing with ultrasounds every 3-4 weeks.

I got a steroid shot yesterday and the pupps is a little more manageable. I’m so grateful.

”him” or “the baby” we don’t share names until they are born, and this one doesn’t even have one. My first we knew her name and Emmy H and I would call her by that but not the others.

@briemo we finished the nursery around 17 weeks with my first and then our last minute touches on it after we found out the sex. I think it was around 35 with the second. Who knows with this guy. We’ve picked paint color so far 🤷‍♀️.

@whitealbum29 I don’t notice him moving hourly. He has a bit of a pattern though and if it goes too long in his active time of no movement I’ll eat something sweet or pull out the dollar. I’ve never counted kicks before.

HappyFeet34 You might have a marginal cord insertion, if the cord inserts at the side. That's what I have. They were worried it might be a velamentous cord, which is when the umbilical vessels connect to the outer membranes and not deep in the placental, but it's not thankfully. If it's just marginal, it's fine and they treat it like a normal pregnancy.
  • @lavenderclouds yes! That’s exactly what I have. I couldn’t remember the name. They told me it could effect growth and between that and all the other random weird things I have they would keep doing ultrasounds every 3-4 weeks. But they came up with weird reasons to monitor regularly with my first two also, and both of them measured fine and had no complications. So who knows 🤷‍♀️
