Today is my husband’s birthday! We are having a family day and then tonight we are going out to dinner just us, the first time since quarantine started! I’m excited to get some time alone with him, especially before the next babe comes along!
I have an ultrasound at 7am tomorrow and it’s about an hour away. I asked for the earliest time they have and it didn’t even occur to me just how early I’m going to need to leave until yesterday.
The weather is FINALLY changing. It’s the first time we have been able to open up the windows and air out the house. 66 and feels like 66, with a high of 82. It’ll never be a real fall, but I’m so happy for a drop in temp and humidity!
@karmba my appt is 9:45 tomorrow, have to leave at 9:15, and I’m already regretting how early it is 🤣

We were comparing our insurance plans last week to decide who's plan we will go with and discovered that DH's plan has a lifetime max of $25,000 for infertility ... which means we have no choice but to go with my insurance (as there is no maximum) ... which also means that even if I wanted to in the future I cannot quit and become a SAHM.
@babymakes9. Good luck!! I had mine last week and it went well. I was nervous though.
Shout out to all you virtual learning mommas out there. You guys are rock stars. We are watching my husband's boss' son today and virtual learning is super fun! I also am trying to remember lots of fifth grade math on the fly! Like I think that is how that is supposed to go. Wait where is the book?
@feather_heather oh momma I’m so sorry! Anyway you could switch back to DH’s later in life? Like after you’ve had all the babies/ gone through all the fertility treatments you want to do?
@tryingktogku - Yeah, his insurance offers open enrollment once a year - so we'll have the ability to switch eventually (especially because it's cheaper than mine)! Just stinks knowing now that I don't have the option of staying home with this baby if that's what I end up wanting to do.
@feather_heather well how much have you used of DH’s insurance money for IF already? Any way you could just keep his (if there’s enough $$$ left to do another treatment) and then if need be switch to yours the following year? Or keep both until you’re in a place to drop one!?
Does anyone here use Color Street nails? I bought my first pack because a friend was hosting a party. It wasn't too hard to put them on but I don't think it was necessarily easier than just painting them haha. I need to get better at filing them down if I want to buy more...
@tryingktogku - Right now we are on separate plans, so I'm on my own (with no maximum). Unfortunately in order to add the baby to the insurance in the US it's two prices - one person plans or a family plan (no matter how many people are on the family plan - 2, 3, 10 lol). When I last checked my insurance claims (last December) they had paid out over $100,000 in the year (so that's three IUIs, one retrieval and one transfer, all the testing and then a few cardiology appointments) - so it's safe to say the $25,000 wouldn't get us far at all!
@willashbaby - Yeah, it's so crazy that it costs so much here in the states! I'm lucky to live in a state that requires infertility coverage and I guess extra lucky to currently have an insurance plan that covers it 100%!
@feather_heather wow that is very expensive! At least you do have coverage and can switch back to your husbands if you decide to be a SAHM after you’ve had all your treatments/babies! In Canada some things are covered but DH and I both don’t actually have insurance despite working full time (employers don’t want to give out benefits anymore) so all our fertility was out of pocket and I’m very very glad we only needed some testing and fertility medication because if it would have gotten to the IUI/IVF it’s still like 30grand a pop here too!
So I’m not feeling a ton of kicks everyday consistently and not sure if I should be? I’ve got an OB appointment tomorrow so going to ask then. I would say like 4-6 weeks ago I was feeling her movements more easily. I will feel her move around here and at least every few hours, but definitely not getting to the 10 kicks per hour or even 2 hour point. I know my placenta is posterior so that’s not contributing. Maybe I’ve just got too much extra fluff in there to feel what’s going on regularly? Anyone else experiencing this?
@shelmcclel so I heard it's not 10 kicks per hour, since they do sleep too, but if you pick a time every day where baby is usually active and do the 10 kicks in that hour. Also, if you're worried, drink something cold and eat something, go lay on your side and do the kick counts. But to ask your Dr doesn't hurt either!

@shelmcclel during the day when you are up and moving you are essentially rocking baby to sleep (and likely focused on other things) so baby may not be kicking and/or it may not be as noticeable.
Like @bearmomma1 said, if you want to do a kick count eat or drink and lay down without distractions. My OB recommends orange juice because the natural sugars are a good way to spark some movement. I will say this little one starts kung-fu fighting after I drink a can of pop (soda) so that's a sure-fire for me.
@shelmcclel I’m pretty sure your ob will tell you to kick count. To go lay down and drink water and I think my ob last time told me 2 hours. If it makes you feel better I didn’t feel very many until recently. Definitely more active when I am at work at my desk!
@shelmcclel it’s 10 movements in 2 hours! So arm rolls count too not just kicks! As baby gets bigger you’ll feel him or her move less as they have less room for dramatic movements! A good rule of thumb is right before bedtime when you’re settling down for the night to do them, lay reclined (not supine) with your hands on your belly or on your left side after drinking a cold glass of water and you should feel 10 movement within the two hours! Sometimes you may feel the movements with your hand and not like internally! Download a kick count app and track at different points of the day if you’re feeling worried!
Anyone order from PinkBlush and get an email they refunded the taxes because your state doesn’t tax on clothes? Never saw that before haha but it’s nice because I paid for faster shipping because I have no fall clothes and of course NJ is going to be 80 now for another week ughhhh give me fall!!
@jbal918 Gah I was just looking at their site for a maxi dress for my maternity shoot with my husband but I don’t know anyone that has ordered from there!
@tryingktogku I got my baby shower dress from their last pregnancy! I didn’t find a maternity dress in the color/size I wanted this time so I didn’t order from there for that but I plan on getting something for my sprinkle from there!
@conni0205 that’s good to know! I feel like 99% of my maternity clothing has been from US only sites lol but worth the shipping and duty if it’s good stuff!
We are trying to figure out why I’ve had excessive unexplained weight gain (before and during pregnancy), extreme depression, severe anxiety attacks to the point where I can’t breathe, passing out and random irregular and high heart rate etc. So I’m getting my thyroid checked next week and getting a heart rate monitor tomorrow morning.
@tryingktogku I love them! I bought clothes from there in 2016 when pregnant with DS! Their return policy is so much better than Mother Maternity and their plus sizes have way more options for me!
So last night my dog kept ringing his bell to go outside after we went to bed. So I got up at about 11pm to let him out and he started to try and just eat grass like a crazy man so I tapped his nose and said no and brought him right back in because I’m trying to really assert to him he can only ring his bell to pee or poo not okay or walk or eat grass but then he kept doing it and I fell asleep around 10pm (gotta wake up at 5) so I may have lost my cool a bit and took his bell away then he ended up being sick like all night and asking to go outside to vomit and now I feel like a horrible dog momma because I couldn’t tell he wasnt feeling good at first and oh my god this must be what mom guilt feels like lol
I just spent too much money ordering matching jammies from Primary.com for the two boys and baby to wear at Christmas. I mean, they are excellent quality jammies (I ordered from the same place last year) and they have matching patterns across sizes and styles that are super cute so even being a little pricey isn't for nothing. Plus, they are neutral enough if baby is a girl they will still be appropriate. No regrets, it's going to be adorable.
@tryingktogku so sorry about doggo! We have one with a temperamental stomach and a senior citizen so unfortunately we miss their requests to go outside sometimes. You are not a bad dog momma, especially if you realize what happened and don't get upset at pupper when cleaning up the accidental mess. And while this is a good preview of mom guilt, I'm sure you know that it unfortunately gets waaaay deeper with human kids. The good news is being worried about being a bad Mom is one of the first signs you are a good one!
@mom_of_the_vogels what style did you order? My 2 oldest kids have been wanting matching pj's for the last 2 years for christmas, but I can never find all the sizes we need, so this year i'm making some. I'm probably going ti start dressing this week.
@babymakes9 I ordered this style for 4yo and 2yo. They will be a bit big for 2yo but I can't put that kid in footies without risking stitches. I got the same pattern in the 0-3 month size footies for baby.
Every once in a while they come out with matching adult jammies (I got a shirt for me last year and loved it). I've also had pretty good luck with getting matchy-styles for the whole crew from the "jammies for your families" line at Kohls.
For those who are interested, Carter’s has introduced Christmas jammies in sizes for the whole family. If you catch their sales, they are usually pretty affordable too. I think Target has family jammies also. I always get each kid a pair, but they get them as St. Nick’s gifts, so they wear them as frequently as I can wash them leading up to Christmas!
