Trying to Get Pregnant

TWW Monday 9/14

**This is a thread that welcomes all regardless of where they are at in their TTC journeys. Please be mindful of topics that are discussed that could be hurtful to those going through tough times. Mention of children or pregnancies of others should have a TW (trigger warning) and be in a spoiler if possible, and only be mentioned if it is extremely pertinent to the conversation. • Month/Cycle: 22/24

    CD/DPO: 17/2

    Timing: -2,-1,O

    Typical LP length: 12

    Testing: 10 or 11 DPO

R/R: Freaking OPK went from flashing smiley to solid smiley in one day. My wondfo was positive that day too even though last cycle it took an extra day for that. It also went to blazing really fast so I think I had a really short surge. So much for a later O and pushing my cycle 🙄. But our timing was fine and here I am in the TWW. We didn’t get +1 in because we stuffed ourselves at my in-laws yesterday and didn’t feel up to DTD. I think we have our bases covered though. I worked allllll day on Saturday on something that’s due tomorrow. My main part is done but I’ll be involved until the end (I already received an email about it before 7 this morning) so I can’t wait for tomorrow to come.

    CS/Q:

  • @bows22 looks like you and I both have cycles that are out of norm! *Disgruntled groan*

    Month/Cycle: 40/28?

    CD/DPO: 20/4?

    Timing: just -3 I guess?

    Typical LP length: 13 days

Testing: since I have no freaking clue on O it might have to be October before I test 😆

R/R: did mostly nothing over the weekend. I did end up going to the game night at my ILs Saturday but I was feeling dizzy the entire night so I was bleh. But I did have fun. Also also, I have a future BIL now from the most boring and cliche proposal ever - the "she just got out of the shower hair still wet when he does it" proposal. I just don't like it because there was no thought put into it. Then again, I think I have high standards for people's proposals because DH proposal on 12/13/14 at 3:16 (15:16 for a 24 hr clock) so there was thought and timing involved! I'll make a separate post of their initial wedding ideas that I feel are just... a little absurd. Need to hop in the shower so DH can be ready for a webinar at 8!

CS/Q: so... I discarded that one high temp so of course I get dotted CH but that was before I even got a positive OPK so........... 🤨 My temps have stayed consistent for like 4 days though so who knows when AF is due

@inthewoods23 Wow, that's great on your husband for getting the proposal timing just right! Even if mine had attempted that, I probably would have screwed it up. Apparently his plan was to propose at some specific waterfall in the Blue Ridge, but I "ran away" when we were at the right point. He then moved to a backup plan of another waterfall, but we didn't make it there because the hike was more than we'd planned (I'd been sick and had more trouble than normal), so finally he had to move to Plan C and pick a random, empty overlook.

    Month/Cycle: 27/1 AL

    CD/DPO: 22/6

    Timing: -6, -3

    Typical LP length: 14-ish

    Testing: only if late

R/R: Not at all ready for Monday, took forever for me to get up. Weekend was good, but exhausting since we went to my parents' house and helped them out with hauling out a big pile of trash, reorganizing their garage, and weeding (which involves hacking down a tree sapling that keeps growing in their lilies).

    CS/Q: none

  • @bows22 You do have awesome coverage despite the super weird LH surge! Hopefully it's a smooth TWW for you!
@inthewoods23 I'm sorry you were dizzy all night at the game night, but I'm glad you had a good time regardless.

    Month/Cycle: 8/6
    CD/DPO: 28/7-8
    Timing: -3, -1 (if 7)/-2 0 (if 8)
    Typical LP length: 14 days
Testing: Wednesday at the earliest (if it's part of my annual at my PCP's office)
R/R: My drug and alcohol counseling continuing education course started today. Doing that course on top of all the other stuff I need to do is a bit much -but- I was able to get quite a bit of work done late last night after finishing my homework for my mental health courses. I'm trying to schedule out my coursework for that class across the span of the next week (or so) with roughly one assignment submitted per day from now until I'm done (which, if I can stick to one assignment per day will be Saturday (9/19). I need to have all of my coursework in no later than 9/27 so that would give me plenty of wiggle room as well if I need to give a little extra attention to my mental health coursework this week. We'll see. I'm still having a lot of anxiety about this cycle and AF is due around Sunday/Monday so I'm just trying to keep myself as busy as possible until then.

@bows22 Ugh, I am sorry work is such a bear right now. I hope you get the project done soon!

@inthewoods23 I don't blame you for side eyeing that a little. I mean, it doesn't have to be fancy, but cook dinner, get flowers, let her finished getting ready so her hair is dry in the pictures? DH took me to dinner at the place he knew I wanted to get married at, an old Victorian hotel on a lake, and then we took a walk on the lake shore and he proposed. Took a little thought, like buying a ring and making a dinner reservation, but not like one of these crazy YouTube proposals. Just enough to show you care.

@akoros I hate when it's Monday and you just can't get going. I hope it gets better as the day goes on!

    Month/Cycle: 4/4

    CD/DPO: 5/22

    Timing: -1

    Typical LP length: 12 days

Testing: probably Saturday if I can't wait until Monday.

R/R: Today is crazt busy for work. Took 45 minutes to focus on a project. Pulled my email back up and had 15 emails! Talk about a moment of panic.

  • @inthewoods23 yes! Disgruntled is the perfect word to describe how I feel about this FW. I agree about the proposal, I guess he was going for the element of surprise but it’s annoying to me haha. And, you were getting engaged while I was getting married! (Well with the time zone difference maybe not but close enough)

@ashaislurking I think your plan for your school work sounds great! That’s how I like to plan things out too. I hope you don’t have any shenanigans this LP! (Or only good shenanigans haha) is this your first cycle since that crazy one? Time means nothing to me anymore so I can’t think if it would make sense if you would have had another cycle in between.

@do@DoubleUp8 the email exhaustion is real these days! I hope your day calms down

  • @bows22 gotta love those sneaky surges... NOT. Welcome to TWW. Good luck with this project; sounds like it'll be a doozy.
@inthewoods23 glad to hear you still enjoyed the games night, even though you weren't feeling great. And congrats on your sister's engagement!
@akoros I'm with you on not ready for Monday, but glad to hear you had a nice (though busy) weekend with your parents.
@ashaislurking that schoolwork plan sounds great; hopefully you can stick to it 🤞🏻. I remember when I was doing my Master's, I would list out & print all of the assignments due for all the courses throughout the term on a 11x17 sheet of paper so that I always knew what I should be working on. It actually was extremely helpful and kept my anxiety in check.
@DoubleUp8 the whole "focus for an hour; get rewarded with tons of emails and IMs" happens to me all the time. I hope this doesn't cause you too much anxiety.

    Month/Cycle: 8/8

CD/DPO: 19/6 (why is it only Day 6?)

    Timing: -2, O(insemination), +1

Typical LP length: on progesterone, so however I want. Muahahahahahahaha!

    Testing: Sunday or 12 DPO

R/R: I actually had a really lovely weekend even though on Saturday morning, I was feeling anxious and lamenting that this isn't a 3-day weekend. It turned out to be very productive, and relaxing at the same time. I even did some work work! Last night I made a delicious butternut squash soup (didn't follow a recipe since I wanted to use up some ingredients I had in the fridge) while listening to 70's music and the whole experience was very relaxing. I also had a chance to work through some complex emotions after last week's not-so-great IUI, so I'm feeling way better about that now too.

As for proposals, I honestly think that they are very personal and can be as elaborate, or as simple as fits the couple. MH proposed to me as we were having a cup of tea in my sister's kitchen just after I got off a work call (although he'll claim that I foiled his attempt at a romantic proposal after breakfast in the old part of the city, which I believe to be 100% true). The proposal wasn't a surprise; in fact we'd already been telling our friends and family that we'll be getting married (we were waiting for some major things to line up in life... i.e. living in the same country), so it's not like it was out of the blue. The most romantic part of his asking was him suggesting (literally moments after he asked, before we even started discussing anything) that we get married where I grew up so that my 92 year old grandmother can partake in the festivities. That melted my heart.

CS/Q: too lazy to post; temps have been dropping for the past 2 days, which is normally what happens at this stage of LP.

  • @DoubleUp8 Sorry today is such a busy day at work. I hope you can catch a breather soon!
@bows22 This is my first cycle after the ridiculously long one. I just got off the phone with my ObGyn's nurse. She wants me to come in between tomorrow and Thursday for progesterone labs. I'll likely go tomorrow to help ease some of my anxiety.
@acleverusername I keep a word document with all of my assignments for the week on it split up by class (e.g., diagnosis gets a page, career counseling gets a page, my drug and alcohol class gets a page, etc.). I don't have a printer, but I can't tell you how UNBELIEVABLY satisfying it is to delete completed assignments from the document. Butternut squash soup sounds delicious. I'm sorry last week's IUI was difficult for you, but I'm glad you got to process some of your emotions about it.

  • @akoros that still sounds like a really lovely proposal! I have a case of the Mondays too. Thumbs down lol

@ashaislurking you sound very busy! GL getting all your HW done

@DoubleUp8 I need to ask my ILs because apparently he had something planned that both his parents and my ILs shot down. Considering he put no thought into it my guess it was originally something kind of elaborate (and my SIL is a very basic, don't draw attention to me kind of person) so they all knew she wouldn't have liked it. I had a bunch of emails pop up into my inbox over lunch and it was like wtf where did these all come from??

@bows22 I like your taste in wedding dates! haha

@acleverusername I don't think you've been around long enough to hear how much I do not like future BIL. He's just the worst for a multitude of reasons. On the topic of proposals though, the other thing I didn't like about his choice was that I'm pretty sure he probably picked up the ring (potentially!) that morning. The ring was ordered and expected to be done in 5-7 weeks and I learned that about a month ago so it seemed like he picked it up and then proposed the moment he got home (he had come back from picking up food). My friend had a similar proposal as yours in that they had talked about it a long time and it just happened one morning while they were laying in bed. Simple.

Oh... and also, she didn't technically say yes (she was surprised that it happened so she didn't have a response I guess and he just put the ring on her finger) so at least I can't be teased for the worse proposal response. I said "yeah" at least! Even if it was a less than enthusiastic response!

    More wedding talk:
I have opinions on the wedding idea I heard since SIL doesn't want a big wedding but he does. My question to you all would be - if a couple gets married on some date but does a large reception at a later date, do you care to "experience" the ceremony if you are only at the reception? The idea floating around is to do a small ceremony (presumably immediate family only or something) and then SIL will create a video/movie of the ceremony and play it at the reception which I'm told they're considering at some movie theater that does catering as the venue? So like, you'd come watch this "wedding ceremony movie" in the theater and then have the catered dinner and dancing. My SIL majored in radio, TV, film in college so she's a bit creative and would enjoy putting the video together. I just get a weird vibe because if you don't want to be the center of attention and yet you still want everyone to watch your ceremony after the fact? I mean I wouldn't go around to friends or extended family asking if they want to watch our wedding video. It just seemed really weird. Especially with covid, like everyone is going to understand people getting married sooner and doing larger receptions later when you can actually have more people in a building when restrictions loosen as the year goes on - it's so common with destination weddings and such. They're also considering 4/3/21 as the date so that would be too quick to through an entire wedding together anyway.

I think they could probably do something creative like maybe putting together a montage of pics/very short clips to music and playing it for their “first dance” and I would be okay with that (but only because of covid) but having everyone sit down and watch the ceremony is a big no from me

    Month/Cycle: 9, 9

    CD/DPO: CD29, 14DPO

    Timing: -2, -1

    Typical LP length: 14

Testing: BFN this morning (6 days sooner FRER)

R/R: (warning: loss mentioned) I don't temp but do track my cycles and RHR. I've never had a cycle longer than 28 days except for my CP in Dec and March. I always spot for two days before AF and I haven't had any spotting. My RHR is still rising and it usually drops by now. Not sure what is happening to my body. Ugh.

  • I posted and ghosted yesterday without intending to do so, but OMG work is CRAZY right now. Q4 planning...

@inthewoods23 I definitely didn't realize you weren't a fan of SIL and BIL and it sounds like there's way more to that story. Sorry for jumping to conclusions. The "wedding video watch party" sounds really awkward. She can still share the video on social media or whatever, but... 🤷‍♀️Totally agree with you that having a small ceremony now / big party later is fine given the times we live in.
