How far along are you? 18+2

How are you feeling (symptoms, mentally/emotionally)? Physically well (minus allergies mentioned in other threads). Anxious to start feeling movement. Unhappy about seeing the crazy OB tomorrow.

Any upcoming appointments? 9/8 - Hypertension follow-up with looney tunes. (Spoiler alert: All of my bloodwork and twice daily self-checks have come back "normal."  I don't have hypertension.)
9/22 - Anatomy scan with MFM
    9/23 - Anatomy scan & follow-up with sane OB?
My goals for this week are to: 1) Call my insurance about the "dual" scans to see if they'd even be covered. 2) Remember to send my sugar reads promptly this week (oops!) 3) Contact the sane OB and the MFM doctor about their opinions on the medical necessity of repeating scans in both offices, like the "other" OB is requesting for me to do.

How are you feeling (symptoms, mentally/emotionally)?  Mentally better this week. Much less anxiety. Plus my Anatomy Scan is just over a week away! Physically?  All the standard symptoms. Headaches, heartburn, lightheadedness, trouble sleeping, back pain. Although I don’t pee as much as some other pregnant ppl do that’s good?

Any upcoming appointments? Anatomy Scan 9/16 at MFM.

GTKY: What's your favorite meme you've posted recently?  umm I guess this?
  • @WildMagelet dual scans is so unnecessary and bizarre. 🙄😣🤦🏻‍♀️ Also re: the meme 😂

@moguippy I just realized that you and @WildMagelet have the same due date. And also, I love Cookie Monster 😂

How far along are you? 19 weeks today

How are you feeling (symptoms, mentally/emotionally)? I keep having recurring nightmares that we will go to the anatomy scan tomorrow and there won’t be a heartbeat. And I second guess on whether I’m feeling kicks or gas. 🤦🏻‍♀️ It’s been a long 6 weeks since my last appointment at home with my MFM.

    Any upcoming appointments?
    Anatomy Scan is tomorrow.

I just saved this to send to a friend:

Still having light headedness so just taking it easy, starting to get awkward to sleep.

Was a little nervous today because I had a weird stomach ache, but I did feel a couple baby kicks so I'll just assume it's gas pain related.

    AS 9/14

Also a cookie monster fan, but also tied for first

Update from today: BP self-checks normal. All bloodwork normal. Urine expected to be normal but takes 3-4 days. TL;DR, I don't have to check my BP anymore (yay!)

He scolded me for not bringing in my glucose readings  ;)

Other than that, bump growth was normal, FHR was normal, and I lost another 2.5 lbs. I'm glad they stopped hassling me about the weight loss, apparently my dips post-junky carbs past the first 2 weeks haven't been high enough to cause them concern. I don't think I could stop it if I wanted to. I am curious as to when I'll stabilize and gain some back.

  • @mdfarmchick so happy to hear it went well! I’ve been waiting to see your post today ❤️❤️ Such a relief!

    Feeling productive.
-Got feelers out to my insurance, still waiting on a response (decided on e-mail to get it in writing).
    -Sent my sugars on time.
-Spoke to my contact at MFM who M/L told me that she's never had anyone be required (to her knowledge) do identical scans for the same thing in the same week.
-Sent e-mail to the OB I liked telling her what crazypants said and that I wanted to just have the OB follow-up with her this month. (Waiting to see if she argues or agrees with me, since crazypants contradicted what she told me the month before.)
-Sent e-mail to my CNM asking if she would take my sugars electronically too, because then I could just send them weekly at the same time I do the MFM dietitian and everybody's happy.

  • @mdfarmchick - I'm glad it went well! Did DH get to make it back for it? What did the kiddos say when you told them it's a boy?

  • @WildMagelet keep me posted on the responses from above. I feel invested in this ridiculous shenanigans.

MH did go with me to the scan, he stayed until noon today so we could sign our refi paperwork and it was really nice for him to be there. My son was so excited for the cupcake he didn’t seem too upset about it. He did tell his dad today that he is still sure it’s a girl and Jesus can fix it. 🤣🤦🏻‍♀️ This kid.

    @mdfarmchick - But wait, there's more!

Insurance said they would cover repeat ultrasounds if deemed medically necessary. Personally, I don't think my doctor's whim or refusal to communicate with an office with whom he claims to have good rapport with from doing his residency there, is medically necessary.

MFM Dietician said sugars "look great".

Plot twist: Neither the doctor I wanted or the midwife received or responded to my messages. They were answered by a nurse answering on Dr. Pretentious' behalf. I am livid. I called her out on it and asked "why my messages have been routed through people other than whom they were addressed to" and I got the total bs answer of "Your messages are routed to the provider who is on call that day to be addressed." What the actual F. I send a multi-part message to my primary OB asking for a second opinion on the contradiction between what she said and what Dr. Pretentious said as it relates to my next scheduled appointment WITH HER and he responds? Great job guaranteeing I NEVER e-mail you guys again. Trust = gone.

Not that I care what he says, but as it relates to said messages:
    1) Dr. Pretentious said my sugars are "ok". A bit of a difference tone-wise from the dietician, don't you think? No reply about me sending them in electronically week-by-week.
    2) Dr. Pretentious totally backtracks when you call him out to his colleagues. ("If MFM is going to do anatomy scan within 1-2 weeks of our scheduled one, then ok to the cancel one in our office. If the timing of U/S is 2 weeks or more then both needs to be done.") Pretending like he didn't know I had one? F you guy. I argued with you about it in the office because I already had an anatomy scan scheduled with the Dr. you did you residency under on the day you wanted me to come back. We had a very long drawn out conversation about it and my future ALREADY PLANNED U/S WITH MFM so you can F right off with your "2 week" BS. No response as to the timing of my next general OB follow-up.
    3) Dr. Pretentious believes that Insurance should cover both. Not the message I got from them, buddy.

Is this my life right now? What even, lol. I can't help but laugh at the ridiculousness of it all.

  • @WildMagelet I would find a way to complain about him. And I would consider switching practices but I know you said that involves a long drive and stuff. That is all really ridiculous
  • @WildMagelet this doctor/practice is ridiculous. I would just refuse the ultrasounds at their office. They can’t physically hold you down and do it. It’s not like they aren’t getting done at a qualified office. Just straight up tell them, “no I already had xyz done at the MFM, you can call them for the results”.  If they insist make them write up a document saying they will not charge you for duplicate ultrasounds that aren’t covered by insurance. You’re right, them simply redoing ultrasounds bc they want to is not “medically necessary“.
