What habits, goals, or resolutions are you focusing on this week? Exercise 5 days this week.
How's everything going? My weeks start on saturdays (DW Monday). So far I've walked 3 miles 3 out of 3 days
What has you motivated or struggling this week? The weather. It's supposed to snow tomorrow with a high of 30 and only get up to 50 by Friday. Time to find indoor cardio workouts.
What's a "small win" you have from last week? I found a route for my walks that is an "easy" 1.5 miles there and back each.
@Kenneylynn3 Wow, what part of the country/world are you in that it will snow tomorrow?! That’s wild! Good for you for already logging 3 days out of 3, that’s awesome. And yay for “easy” route. Hope you’re able to enjoy it a bit longer despite the weather changes. Does YW do the workouts w you when her schedule allows?
What habits, goals, or resolutions are you focusing on this week? Still aiming for 70,000 steps per week. The last 2 weeks I was at 68k and 66k, so really gotta focus to make it happen. Actually, I took one day off each week & that felt good, so I will aim for that this week too. Adding in fertility yoga this week, only dabbled in it before...
How's everything going? All is great! I kicked off this week w an easy 20 minutes on the elliptical, then pulled some weeds in the yard.
What has you motivated or struggling this week? I am really struggling with getting enough sleep. I keep taking a “nap” around 8 or 9 pm, then waking up around midnight & working for a few hours. I have to break this bad habit this week!
What's a "small win" you have from last week? Feeling really happy that I hit 10,000 steps or more mostly everyday for the past 2 weeks. I’m feeling healthier just by doing those daily walks.
@keikilove I'm a walker too, and agree 10,000 steps feels so good! You're doing a great job. I'm curious to find out what you think of fertility yoga.
What habits, goals, or resolutions are you focusing on this week? I'm going to be starting whole30 tomorrow. At first I thought it sounded too "extreme", but I do think I have an unhealthy relationship with food and need something structured to "reset" a bit.
How's everything going? I haven't started yet, but the last couple of days have not been my proudest moments in terms of food choices and amounts.
What has you motivated or struggling this week? I'm motivated by a desire to feel healthier, reduce headaches, ovulate more regularly, and fit into my clothes again. MH does not eat healthy whatsoever, and a lot of times it's easier to just have what he wants to eat instead of being disciplined.
What's a "small win" you have from last week? I can't think of anything at the moment, but I hope that next week I'll have something to write here
@keikilove I'm in Wyoming. Next week it's supposed to be in the 70-80s. 🤷 Most of the time she didn't join as I try to exercise in the morning while she sleeps. One a week we might do for a walk in the evening, but it's a shorter/slower walk. I hope your sleep schedule gets back on track. Good for you for almost making cm 70,000 steps while taking a day off!
@Kenneylynn3 I was going to guess Colorado, I saw something on the news about the temperature dropping 45 degrees within a day
What habits, goals, or resolutions are you focusing on this week? Exercise 5 days a week, which I achieved last week so trying to continue it. Steps are a bit lower than I'd like, but that's also because they don't really get counted when I go kayaking so I'm letting it go until I switch to another exercise.
How's everything going? Pretty good, routine-wise. Was good about getting physical activity and tracking my food intake.
What has you motivated or struggling this week? Motivated that I managed to get a lot of exercise last week without breaking myself. Struggling with the scale. After finally getting down to 159 it spiked up to 165 and won't budge. I'm trying to ignore it and focus on feeling stronger/healthier. My weight is a massive struggle, and I really don't think I've ever managed to lose weight since puberty without some sort of pharmaceutical/hormonal intervention (some inadvertent: I lost weight when I started BC and was on antidepressants...and quickly gained weight when I stopped those). I definitely can't do any of those while trying to conceive or getting pregnant, so I'm stuck with diet and exercise, which always winds up being very frustrating.
What's a "small win" you have from last week? Went for a 6.66mi paddle last Friday. Was exhausted afterwards, particularly since the boathouse was upstream and the current was fairly strong due to rains, but really glad I did that. Also got to see some egrets, blue herons, and a bald eagle, lots of animal activity that day!
@akoros Great job on the physical activity! You’re doing awesome on meeting your goals. I can only imagine what your arms, shoulders, & back must’ve felt like after that kayak paddle! Sorry for the frustrating weight plateau. Over the last few years I was also stuck around 168–no matter what I did it would not budge. It was my first time in life carrying extra weight, and I finally realized the agony people go through. It was bizarre to not feel like myself in my body or clothes. Anyway, my thyroid was a bit high for trying to conceive so I was put on Levothyroxine. I think the small dose I’m on helped my thyroid & metabolism go back to normal, and I finally dropped the 15-20 extra I’d been carrying for too long. Maybe you can ask your doctor about it? I hope you’re able to find something to help!
@priyadoc Best of luck with Whole30. I have a bestie who has done it twice: she absolutely loves it. Her energy goes through the roof & she gains a ton of pride/self-confidence by virtue of sticking w something challenging for 30 days straight. Also, have you considered Noom? I’ve heard it’s great to get at the root of the weight/food challenges.
@kenneylynn3 Wow, snow and then 70s-80s? Enjoy that wild weather! Always an adventure.😄
@keikilove After stumping a nutritionist I did have a thyroid panel done a few years ago because I couldn't get the weight off (and kept gaining) and was always tired, which came back perfectly normal. The endocrinologist also tested my cortisol and testosterone levels, among others that I can't remember, and they were also fine. I noticed that thyroid was also on my recent RPL and those levels were still normal, so there's no change. My weight basically responds to serotonin and probably progesterone (since I lost weight while on BC and didn't gain any during my short-lived pregnancies, but also gained 10-15lbs right after stopping BC). The hard part is that a lot of doctors, when I tell them that I lose weight on an SSRI and/or BC, tell me I'm wrong because it's usually the opposite for a lot of people. I had a wonderful GP a few years ago who actually listened and looked into the research, but unfortunately she moved and is no longer in the area. Oh well, I hate the idea of having to use drugs to be a healthy weight, so now I'm working on being happy with my body as it is and focusing on fitness. All easier said than done!
@keikilove I've heard a lot about noom but have never looked into doing it. I'm glad to hear your bestie loves Whole30! I'm goal-oriented so I'm hoping sticking with it for 30 days makes me feel proud/more confident as well. I feel like such a hypocrite sometimes for not practicing what I preach, so I'm hoping this helps!
