As a kid, I made ice cream soup. Lots and lots of ice cream soup!

I usually just ate it as is, but SOMETIMES made soup.

My favorite was actually when we would do homemade ice cream as a kid. It is SO GOOD. We used the old fashioned ice cream maker with the crank. Had to work for it! lol

Y'all are MONSTERS with your soup!

I eat ice cream like a normal person. Currently since I'm on dairy-free "frozen dessert" I'm eating it straight from the container lol.

@inthewoods23 I don't make ice cream soup anymore hahaha but as a kid I did! I would add sprinkles (the colored dots, not Jimmies) and it would turn my ice cream soup into a rainbow

I was a very "special" child! haha

As a kid, total soup. Now normal.
ETA: @inthewoods23 being dairy free I also eat from the container as does DW since she eats regular ice cream. No sense in dirtying a bowl!

Apparently I am not normal, because I still mix it up as an adult. Not true soup, but I want it to be soft serve consistency.

@kpearse99 oh no, I don't think I could ever do that. I hated the weird colors it would make mixing it all up!

@Kenneylynn3 when they only come in pint sizes it would be silly to dirty a bowl! I know there are 3 servings in the container and know approximately when to stop to get 1 serving. I tend it eat it pretty slow (one of the few foods I'm actually really good about savoring!) so it feels like enough even though it's like... a 1/3 cup.

@fitzfizz mmmmm soft serve. Interestingly I don't particularly care for chocolate or vanilla ice cream, but absolutely love it as soft serve

A bit of both, though I'm with @fitzfizz where it's more of a soft-serve consistency than soup. Depends somewhat on the flavor, I always liked vanilla so that works well (particularly if you're getting one made out of an egg-based custard), as you get more of the flavor once it warms up a bit, but if there were chunky mix-ins or swirls then it's better hard.

As a kid, I usually eat about half normal, then soup the remaining half. Now I eat about 3/4, then kinda let the rest get a little melty and delicious.

@kpearse99 I did the same thing with vanilla ice cream and those sugar sprinkles! I usually just mixed it to a soft-serve consistency, not full-on ice cream soup. Now as an adult I eat it the regular way, especially since I prefer my ice cream in a cone rather than a cup or bowl.

@inthewoods23 definitely sugar for hard ice cream. Soft-serve is best in a plain cone IMHO. I remember when I was a kid I used to beg my parents to let me get my ice cream in a waffle cone. They never let me because it was too much ice cream for me and I'd probably end up either throwing half of it away away or getting a major stomach ache.

@emeraldduchess yeah, never get a waffle cone even though they are delicious because you're never going to eat all the ice cream they can hold!

@kpearse99 the pic always reminds me of our hedgehog Pinecone. It always makes me laugh!

When my brother was visiting a few weeks ago, we took him to Bonefish Grill (there are none in AZ) and then he asked us to take him to a custard place that wasn't Culvers. He wanted something more local. The cashier made our order wrong so we ended up some 2 scoops instead of 1 scoop. 1 scoop sundaes are really 2-2.5 scoops and I swear 2 scoop sundaes are like 3-4 scoops

. My poor brother had custard just dripping down the side of his hand because he couldn't eat it fast enough!

@inthewoods23 around here 1 scoop is definitely 1 and a half scoops! Kid-sized is 1 and a half, small is 2, medium is 3 and large is 4. I have seen people walk away with a large and I have no idea how anyone can eat that much in one sitting! There's a ice cream stand near me that has "ice cream nachos". It's like 5 scoops of ice cream with whipped cream, sprinkles, and waffle cone chips. I don't have the guts to try and tackle that and DH isn't interested in sharing.
FF Ice Cream Confession: I have never had a banana split and I have no desire to try one.

@emeraldduchess same! Never had a banana split either. Mostly because growing up I did not like bananas. I'm just so deep in love

with mint chocolate chip I hardly choose anything else. Or it's something with oreos lol. PRO TIP - marshmallow fluff is AMAZING in a Culvers concrete mixer. It adds a little extra airy-ness/fluffiness to it and it's so good.

@inthewoods23 Culver's isn't a thing here in New England. I just looked it up, there are none here! What we do have is tons of those fro-yo places where you serve yourself, add your own toppings, and then en. d up paying like $12 for it.

@emeraldduchess FF fro-yo confession - I have never had it, except maybe one time when I bought it at the grocery store to try. Doesn't seem like anything special. If you're ever in the Midwest you should definitely try it! Culvers is pretty rampant here in WI but it did also originate here ha.
