LO is 5 1/2 months old and I CANNOT change her bedtime to save my life. I've tried waking her up earlier in the morning but she makes up for it in naps. I wake her from naps too but IDK how much she is supposed to nap. The last two nights she went to bed at 10:30 but then woke up at 11:00. I was able to get her back to sleep last night but not tonight. I'm at a loss. Any ideas appreciated. TIA
Re: Anyone fixed a really late bedtime?
ds used to go to sleep around10:30-11:30, but sometimes he would get really cranky at night. we decided to start a bedtime routine and just picked a time (8:00) that we thought would be a reasonable time for him and us to get him ready and asleep. at 8:00 (no matter when he has napped/eaten last) we give him a bath, lotion massage, and then into pjs. he nurses to sleep and i pop him in the crib.
sometimes he will wake up within the first hour, but will go back to sleep with a pacifier or quick nursing. then he'll sleep for 4-5 hours. all the getting ready for bed (except the bath part) is done in his room with just the night light on and quiet talking. it really only took him a couple of days before he got used to the routine. it's kind of funny now because even if he just ate not that long ago, the anticipation of knowing he is going to eat next after the bath and pjs drives him crazy and he can't keep his hands (or the towel, or my hands, or his pjs) out of his mouth.
so far this has worked great for us. it's also funny, because he is really stuck on his bedtime being 8 now. for example, last night he took a nap from 6:45 until 7:15. i thought maybe everything would get pushed back time-wise. nope. at 7:45 he was starting to get tired looking and cranky and was totally ready to do bedtime stuff at 8.
