Edited: Whoops! Sorry Week 1 friends. Definitely posted my update here instead of week 2. Can I blame the pregnancy brain?

    Week of pregnancy: 28+2

Baby is the size of: Eggplant

Upcoming Appointments: This Wednesday for TDAP/Glucose/Rhogam/Checkup

Rant/Rave: Rave: Closed on our house on Friday and yesterday we were able to move most of our stuff :) We also got a new fridge and washer and dryer set (no more laundromat, woohoo!) and got those set up yesterday as well. Floor guy is coming today to give us a quote on refinishing the hardwoods, which is the last thing that needs to be done before me fully move in. Hoping it doesn't cost too much and can be done soon!
Rant: The deposit required for us to turn on our utilities is FREAKING $725!!!! WTF?!? I can't believe it. We are moving to a more rural area from a big city. In the city, there is no deposit as long as you have decent credit, but in the rural area they make everyone pay this crazy high deposit, just to turn on water/gas/electricity. Insane.

    Questions? None right now!

GTKY: Would you rather the beach, the mountains, or the city - why? (selfishly asking to plan my next vacay  ) Hmmm... probably the mountains! I love all three, and I think it depends on what city/beach/mountain, but there is something so relaxing and beautiful about a mountain getaway!
  • omg $725 is insane @bserena

  • @ecat504 RIGHT? I couldn't believe it when they told me. I was not prepared for it AT ALL. Moving is expensive enough already, ughhh.
  • Whoa $725 is insane! I mean I guess it's good you should get it back, but I would prefer my money in my account. I think the most I have paid for a deposit like that is $50?
  • @bserena So excited for you and the new house! Congrats!

    Estimated due date (EDD): 11/4

    Week of pregnancy: 28w5d

Baby is the size of: 🍆

Upcoming Appointments: Thursday chiropractor, Friday midwife

Rant/Rave: Actually posting on a Monday! Mostly just rants. SPD is acting up today and it sucks to be in pain just walking around. It's been hot here and I am not handling it well. And we start back to school on Monday.

    Questions?

GTKY: Would you rather the beach, the mountains, or the city - why?
Hmmmm, beach? We live in the mountains, and the city is really exhausting, so beach sounds relaxing!

  • @hedgepig thank you!! Ugh, I'm sorry you're dealing with SPD. I though I was experiencing some SPD pain earlier on but havent recently.

@teachingbp yeah, 50 or even 100 bucks I would totally understand... but 725 is just crazy. And there is only one option for utilities out here so there's literally no choice or other option.

    Week of pregnancy: 28+4

Baby is the size of: Eggplant?

Upcoming Appointments: Friday for OB (Need to ask about TDAP and a birth plan)

Rant/Rave: We cleaned out our closets and condensed a lot of our things and now we actually have space for Baby. We also measured the free spaces in our room and also know where we are going to put his bassinet and changing table/dresser. We were going to take a Halo bassinet from my friend, but it's much too big for our room (45sq"); I'm glad we measured because now we've settled on the Snoo and my in-laws have offered to buy it for us (which is so so nice and generous). Honestly, DH has been amazing - he is so organized and so excited; I obviously wouldn't want to do this with anybody else, but it just makes me appreciate him even more.

    Questions?

GTKY: Would you rather the beach, the mountains, or the city - why? (selfishly asking to plan my next vacay  ) Love all 3. I'm a city girl forever at heart, but we're actually going up to the mountains this weekend to celebrate our 5-year wedding anniversary. We try to go upstate (Catskills in NY) a few times a year - I absolutely love it there!

Be back tomorrow for tags; I'm dead tired.
  • Estimated due date (EDD): 11/2

    Week of pregnancy: 29 weeks!!!

Baby is the size of: an acorn squash!

    Upcoming Appointments: 9/11

Rant/Rave: RAVE!!!!!! I S.T.R.U.G.G.L.E. with drinking water. My sister sent me Nuun sport electrolytes to add to my water bottle. It’s made SUCH a difference. A) I’ve been drinking water and B) it tastes good and is less of a chore. I was so excited I even bought a new water bottle! I didn’t feel like I was going to die yesterday.

Questions? Anyone do hypno-birthing? I know there is a thread on it. I’m thinking of trying it.

GTKY: Would you rather the beach, the mountains, or the city - why? Oh shucks. What city? Without kids? If it’s without kids...some big city somewhere. I love traveling. I want to check out Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam. Realistically, beach with kids. Or a disney resort. Mainly anywhere you can take an airplane. I love to explore. The more mobile people/kids are the better.
  • Estimated due date (EDD): 10/31

    Week of pregnancy: 29 +3

Baby is the size of: an acorn squash. Foot as long as a Bobby pin today

Upcoming Appointments: OB 8/24 and I need to do my glucose test that I forgot about Friday, oops

Rant/Rave: Rave we got 2 spots at our top daycare to start when I go back to work. Related rant, my boss asked me today if I could change my work schedule when I come back from leave (I work M-Th, picked because we had overlapping coverage W-F) and I said "no, sorry. I just got daycare ironed out after 18 months of waitlist" haha

Questions? Anyone familiar with hospitals in the Virginia Beach area? We're going there for vaca in 3 weeks (I'll be 32 weeks) and I've been looking to see which are closest and have the highest level of NICU care. I'm also going to ask my OB what I need to consider just in case

GTKY: Would you rather the beach, the mountains, or the city - why? (selfishly asking to plan my next vacay  ) Beach! I'm so excited for our upcoming beach vacation even if I'll be whale sized and with my ILs
  • @bserena yay! Congrats on the house!

@laurenmicheley that's awesome of your ILs! And they have really good resale value too.

@name1109 ooh I like your thoughts on travel.  I'm not really a city girl but I do love to travel
  • Estimated due date (EDD): 11/1

    Week of pregnancy: 29

Baby is the size of: acorn squash

    Upcoming Appointments: Tues 8/25

Rant/Rave: rant- men, specifically DH, don't get pregnancy; rave - platelet count is up! So I don't think I posted (brain is worthless) my platelet count at my 28 week visit was 131k, 150k is low end of normal. But redid blood work last Fri, got results back today and up to 146!! I was pretty panicky bc with #1 I had HELLP and my plarelus dropped to 90k. I was so anxious to he heading down that road again.

Questions? When do you guys plan to start washing baby clothes? I want to start, but feel like it's too early?

GTKY: Would you rather the beach, the mountains, or the city - why? Mountains 😁😁 I live pretty close to both beach and mtns (2 hrs from beach, 3-4 for mtns).  I was born in WV and even though we moved when I was fairly young I think a piece of the mountains stuck with me. Everytime I drive thru them I am just 😍😍 But of course the beach isn't bad either 🙂
  • Estimated due date (EDD): 11/3

    Week of pregnancy: 29

Baby is the size of: acorn squash

Upcoming Appointments: this Friday glucose tolerance test; Mon 8/24 OB appt and TDAP I think

Rant/Rave: Started getting migraines and a lot of dizziness which has really sucked. I’ve suffered with migraines for years but nothing has been working lately. Trying to make sure to stay hydrated and started drinking some electrolyte drinks another nurse recommended

    Questions? None

GTKY: Would you rather the beach, the mountains, or the city - why? BEACH all day every day. Love the smell of the water and the feel of the sand in my toes and wind in my hair. It also makes it feel more acceptable to day drink.  My ILs have a condo on Ft Myers Beach so we usually try and go there once or twice a year
  • Estimated due date (EDD): 11/4

    Week of pregnancy: 29

Baby is the size of: acorn squash

Upcoming Appointments: Monday with midwife and I think I'm also getting tdap.

Rant/Rave: Part of me is starting to get nervous about running out of time to prepare. The 29 week info on this app got me nervously reminded of things we haven't done-- I haven't looked into a pediatrician at all and haven't looked into birthing classes. The app mentioned starting to get a hospital bag ready? Ahh. On the other hand, I'm feeling like these next couple months are going to be long and rough. I just can't imagine how much more uncomfortable I'm going to get...

GTKY: Would you rather the beach, the mountains, or the city - why? Beach. I would love a little vacation where I can relax and not feel like I have to do anything. MH likes to take active vacations, which I enjoy too, but they can get exhausting. Mountains= hiking and city= sight seeing. I'd love to go to the beach with a chair and a book.
  • @magdaaaa WOOOOOHOOOO! That is awsome!

  • Hurray for passing @magdaaaa! I am sure that feels like a huge win!
  • @name1109 Thanks for sharing about the Nuun electrolyte drink. I can only drink so much water and maybe that will help. Also, I heard hypno-birthing mentioned in a video recently and don't know much about it, but it sounded interesting.
@ksdelong20 Happy to hear about the daycare and glad you stood up for yourself with the proposed schedule change.
teachingbp I feel you with the whole men not getting pregnancy. MH is mostly like that too and it doesn't help that he can't attend the appointments. Right now the struggle with us right now seems to be understanding that I'm not being lazy when I don't want to super clean the house or go for an hour-long hike. Happy to hear about the platelet count!
@magdaaaa Congrats for passing the test!
  • @name1109 I've been hesitant to pay for hypnobirthing/hypnobabies but at the same time I want to try them out. My sister used hypnobabies and loved it! For me, I'm more anxious and more likely to panic if I don't know what to do in a situation but if I have someone telling me what to do and can bring my focus elsewhere it really helps. I tried a hypnobirthing app that I didn't have to pay for and the lady's voice was super annoying to me but i liked the things she was saying. I'm assuming that if I pay a couple hundred for something it's going to be good? I wish hypnobabies would offer a free sample before having to pay for it but maybe I need to just suck it up and hand over the money🙄
  • @babywiik I want to try this baby natural so if it helps???? I don’t want to spend a million $$$. Haha.
  • @babywiik @name1109 I did no pain meds with #1 and that is my intention this time. I didn't do any special classes besides normal child birth class (mostly for my husband). I did read, a lot. I think for birth Ina Mae's Guide to childbirth helped the most. I also had a doula which was invaluable, but of course is $$. However I did it! And she helped me when things didn't go as planned... Bc that always happens!

@teachingbp thank you for the book recommendation. Baby 1 and 3 I had an epidural. Baby 2 kind of went from 6cm to 10cm/birth in 15 minutes...and was natural. I think given COVID I can’t have a doula or atleast that’s my expectation 😭😭😭.
  • @name1109, check with the hospital/where you are delivering. I can have one person plus a certified doula. So typically it's just one, but certified doulas "don't count". Some are also open to virtual support to. I asked in case things get bad again and she can't come with me.
  • @teachingbp yeah I asked during my last visit 😭
  • @name1109 that super stinks 😭
