Baby is the size of: Lettuce? Kid's jelly shoes? Lol.
Upcoming Appointments: 8/19 for OB checkup/rhogam/bloodwork/TDAP/glucose
Rant/Rave: Rave: All repairs should be done today, so hopefully closing this week! Now to get everything packed (which is the worst!).
Questions? Nope
GTKY: What is the best gift anyone's ever given you? So my grandfather was basically my father and he passed away from cancer when I was in middle school. My one tattoo is of his initials, and baby will be named after him (Michael). He was my world. Anywho, when I got married I really wanted to carry his ring with me down the aisle, but my mom couldn't find it in time. On my wedding day, my mom came up to me before hand and gave me a jewelry box. Inside was a beautiful necklace that contains a tiny bit of his ashes (they make them specifically for this, urn necklaces). It was such a thoughtful and special gift and I wear it pretty much always.
Upcoming Appointments: last monthly OB today, moving on to every 2 weeks. Probably going for my glucose test this week (at my convenience)
Rant/Rave: DH got me some amazing ice cream that i just finished tonight. It was Turkey Hill Triopolitan of mint, dark chocolate and vanilla with cookie bits. So good! Rant: I'm losing my patience at work and blaming pregnancy.
Questions? After weeks of not having any... 1. Has anyone switched pump brands between kids? Last time I got a Medela PISA but don't think it was the most efficient for me and am looking to maybe try a Spectra if insurance won't cover any of a hands-free pump like Elvie or Willow. 2. We're switching daycares once I go back to work in Feb. Going from 2 to 3 days. Should I keep DS (will be 21 monthsl home with me during my leave to a) save money and b) cut down on daycare gems brought home to newbie baby? I'm pretty certain my ILs will be taking DS on their regular day so I'll be home with 2 under 2 four days a week.
GTKY: What is the best gift anyone's ever given you? Yikes, didn't expect this to be so hard. Probably the locket DH gave me the Christmas after we were married. It needs the pictures updated though as they're wedding photos
Upcoming Appointments: blood work to recheck platelets Friday
Rant/Rave: crappy week dealing with being 1cm dilated (short cervix) and finding out my platelets are low (I had HELLP last pregnancy). But I believe I have found a great support group! Thank you!!
Questions? What are you guys thinking about doing with quarantining prior to delivery. I hadn't thought about it before reading the posts here. I will be working from home, but plan on sending my daughter (3.5) back to preschool so I can work/not over do it.
GTKY: What is the best gift anyone's ever given you? This is hard! I suppose my mom gave me a necklace my grandmother had bought for me of a mother and baby at my baby shower, but my grandmother had previously passed.
@ksdelong20 such a hard decision in this pandemic time! I think I plan on sending my daughter to school as long as cases aren't too scary. I remember how hard it is to have a newborn and don't think I can adequately handle a newborn and a 3.5 yo. I definitely think I would struggle more with a 21 month old.
@bserena instaTears over here. Such a thoughtful thoughtful gift.
@ksdelong20 personally I’ll be sending my big kids to school childcare. Maternity leave is not looking like I had planned due to COVID. That being said I don’t have support here so it’s that or nothing. I really want some bonding time with our little girl.
@t@teachingbp I had that (1cm dilation) with my last baby. So terrifyingly frustrating. I’m hoping things go better this time around. I’m not sure I’m quarantining prior to baby. I know I have to take a COVID test prior to birth. I feel like I’m pretty much at daycare for pick up and home these days.
Upcoming Appointments: This Friday! I’m kind of excited to actually be checked and see how baby is doing. I haven’t seen my mid-wife/OB since March? I’m kind of pumped. Not pumped about the glucose test or the blood test. I have problems with blood tests (pass out????)
Rant/Rave: rant. I feel so. LAZY. I am determined to try to get out and walk. I’ve been semi not walking for fear of having baby girl early. Rave...my daughter’s 2nd grade teacher seems like a sweetheart. I’m really feeling good about switching schools.
Questions? Is anyone taking added hydration/electrolytes during pregnancy? I’m thinking of trying the nuun brand.
GTKY: What is the best gift anyone's ever given you? I really really like the push gifts I have for each of our girls.
Rant/Rave: My baby feels like a brick in my belly, these days! Getting really uncomfortable when I sleep. Rave is that DH is off all of next week, we are going to have a staycation and then are headed up to the Catskills for a long weekend (Fri-Mon)!
Questions? Nada (I actually probably do have but I can't think)
GTKY: What is the best gift anyone's ever given you? My Grandma is a Holocaust survivor - when she was liberated from Bergen-Belsen she was brought to Sweden where she was rehabilitated and taught a trade (seamstress). She grew up extremely poor in rural Hungary and never had anything nice to call her own. She admired a gold bracelet for a long time in a shop window when she began working and was able to save up all her money for it. She gave me that bracelet, and it is a treasure that I never take off.
@ksdelong20 FTM, however - if insurance won't cover Elvie or Willow; get Freemie! It will be covered and has hospital grade suction (in contrast to the brand name options). My best friend has the Freemie and swears by it.
@ksdelong20, I felt the same about the Medela. I had a fine supply until I went back to work and had to pump most of the time. My insurance would have covered the freemie, but I decided to go with the Spectra bc I have heard so many good things. Also with CoVID and teaching I likely will not be back in my office until next August... I didn't think I would *need* portability.
@bserena I like the birthstone thing. So I have a ring and two bracelets from David Yurman. For baby last I’m asking him for a necklace or earrings because I won’t have any other people pulling at earrings/ necklaces. I wear them every day.
Upcoming Appointments: 8/21 for glucose tolerance test; 8/24 next follow up w/ OB
Rant/Rave: Haven’t had any issues with swelling yet, but I’ve been having a lot of numbness and tingling in my one foot/ankle I had surgically repaired last year
Questions? Has anyone ever had issues with their OB during pregnancy where you feel they aren’t quite listening to any of your concerns? I’m high risk and my OB who won’t be delivering me as he doesn’t deliver at the hospital I’m going to won’t consider the plans my specialist has set aside for me to plan a c-section to help minimize any complications during delivery and it’s getting super frustrating
GTKY: What is the best gift anyone's ever given you? Wow that’s a rough one. Hmm I got old homemade videos my grandpa filmed during my childhood after he passed. It was nice being able to see videos of my childhood and the memories we made as a family, including my grandpa, after he passed.
Upcoming Appointments: 8/18 for reg OB and glucose test
Rant/Rave: I’ve failed the glucose test horribly and had gestational diabetes with both of my previous pregnancies. I’ve been much more active this time and my sugars have been great so I’m kinda thinking there’s a chance I beat it this time around 🤞🏻
Questions? Nada
GTKY: What is the best gift anyone's ever given you? Oh man - that’s tough bc I don’t typically receive gifts. I think it would be a very special (to me) glassybaby that one of my dearest friends got me. The mama one that i wanted for so long.
me 32 | dh 45
married 11.11.17 mama. epicurean. plant lover. wine enthusiast.
@ksdelong20 i had both the Medela PISaa and spectra and the spectra is infinitely better in my mind. I’ll be using that and the willow this time around. Also, I’m agonizing over sending DD to preschool starting Monday or not. but the truth is he needs to go and I need him to go bc being home with him (22 months) and a newborn is just a no.
@teachingbp I don’t know who will deliver me. I know there’s multiple doctors at the practice who deliver at the Children’s hospital where I’ll be. I’m asking at my next appt 8/24 to only see at least someone who delivers there through the rest of the pregnancy
Rant/Rave: So late to the party this week! Rant: I've been trying to get prepped for starting back to school in 10 days and doing it all online. Definitely cutting into my TB time. Rave: It's amazing how much baby is moving these days! I can see so much movement from the outside, which is so cool! I'm pretty sure she's head down now, and it seems like all of a sudden I can feel her whole body when I press on my belly.
Questions?
GTKY: What is the best gift anyone's ever given you? My brain isn't working great right now, so all I can think about are the wireless headphones that MH got me for Christmas a coule of years ago. I mean, I really love them though...
Be back for tags hopefully in the morning!

@teachingbp Right on! What do you teach? Have you taught online before, or is it all new to you? As for quarantine, I haven't asked my provider about their recs, but my plan is to start quarantining at the beginning of October. My folks will be doing the same. We keep ourselves pretty isolated these days anyways, so the main change is that my brother will be doing all our shopping and chores starting about 37 weeks. @bserena Great news about the house! Do you have a move date? Packing is the worst! At least you're doing it *before* you have baby stuff too! I thought we'd never have to move again, but now we're planning on moving next year and I am already dreading it. So many books! And records! All.the.heavy.shit. Good luck! @ksdelong20 I don't know what Covid is like in your area or how worried your ILs are about it, but you might check with them about their comfort level if he was in daycare? Maybe they'd take him an extra day just to keep him out of care and keep the germs away for flu season and Covid and newborn? I may just be thinking of this because if DS was at daycare my ILs wouldn't feel comfortable interacting with him at all. @name1109 Have a great appt today! I can't believe it's been so long! @jzajac06 That's really frustrating about your OB. It isn't too late to switch.... having a provider you trust is important! @magdaaaa GL with your glucose test! That would be so cool if you didn't have GD this time!

@hedgepig luckily I have taught online before! I typically have a least one online class a semester. Makes "all online" less overwhelming.
@bserena missed the packing part. I HATE packing up a house. I kind of want to move closer to town so I can walk places, then I think of packing up my house and it's a hard pass. Good luck! And reward yourself with a treat when you are done 👏🏻
Thanks all! Definitely switching to a spectra if insurance won't cover a handsfree (which i should probably get a script and get that process started soon)
As far as daycare he's currently going 2day/Week. Covid cases have been really low in my immediate area and there's no way DH and I can quarantine as we're both in health care (low risk for exposure). My ILs are younger ish (just turned 60) and also watch their other grandchild 1 day a week and MIL will be having shoulder surgery sometime this fall so I don't anticipate they'll add an extra day right now (would be a great alternative). I think we'll keep him in initially but pull at any time if things change.
And i forgot to go do my glucose test yesterday 🤦♀️
@ksdelong20 , that is kind of my plan, with keeping my 3.5 yo in preschool. I will be working from home until this one comes. It's very hard to wfh and toddler chase/entertain. For sanity, it's best she goes, however if it gets dicey we'll figure it out.
I did my glucose test yesterday. They waited 20 minutes to give me the drink!!! I was so annoyed! Then the wait! The tech was confused why I chugged that thing. It’s so nasty!
Also baby girl is not head down yet. Made me a smidge anxious. I’m thinking worst case c-section and they snip everything in there. This is baby LAST at all costs. (Family mental health with #5/#6 gets real bad).
-I feel so late to respond this week! The breast pump conversation was helpful and I think I'll be looking into the Spectra now. Also a teacher here and overwhelmed with all of the unknowns bc school start has been delayed and no updates on online/in person yet!
Estimated due date (EDD): 11/4
Week of pregnancy: 28w3d
Baby is the size of: Eggplant
Upcoming Appointments: midwife appt in 2 weeks.
Rant/Rave: I think DH is finally starting to understand how I'm feeling with pregnancy. We are on a mini-vacation and have been hiking, so I think it was kind of a wake-up call when he realized how much I could handle, but he's been very sweet and helpful. My heartburn has been terrible lately.
Questions? How can you all tell the position of the baby? Did you find out at your appt or can you feel it?
GTKY: What is the best gift anyone's ever given you? When I was a kid, my uncle got me a subscription to a kids magazine (Ranger Rick) and would renew it every Christmas. It was small, but I remember looking forward to it every month and was happy for the renewal every year.
@warmwinter With my first I didn't know much about his position til near the end when the MW showed me how to figure it out. This time I can feel the hiccups really low, which apparently means the head is down, and then if I feel my belly near the belly button I can usually feel a butt or back. Also, we got Ranger Rick too and LOVED it! It's so special to get mail as a kid!

Last time I think every appt after 28 - 30 weeks they felt and said baby is head down. This time I feel hick ups low and the back usually along my left belly side plus the bum likes to poke out there a lot. It's hardish and pointy 😂. You can definitely ask at your next appt for them to help you understand baby's orientation!
@teachingbp great idea for getting her into position...***goes to IG***
@warmwinter my mid-wife told me baby’s head was up and not down at my last visit. She said baby should move by our next visit. However if there are exercises like @teachingbp mentioned I’m going to do them.
Side note...I’ve met with my midwife in person so infrequently I didn’t even know what she looked like 🤣.
