Baby is the size of: Why didn't the melons get married?
Because they cantaloupe! (can't elope) har har har har har
Upcoming Appointments: MFM appt tomorrow 8/11 - growth scan and then MFM consult. Also 8/12 - fetal echo
Rant/Rave: Rant - *whining* I'm so effing uncomfortable and tired, can I has naps now? Rave - Can't wait to see my babes tmrw Also they've been super squirmers lately so I'll be fun to see how they're positioned and if I'm right (I *think* they both are breech at the moment cause I'm getting some weird kicks super low in my abdomen).
Questions? N/A
GTKY: What is the best gift anyone's ever given you? The necklace two good friends gifted me after my sister passed away.

Rant/Rave: nothing but rants right now.. we are required to wear masks at work... my coworker starts off in the morning with it, but ends up taking it off by the afternoon.... Also, got a letter from my ob office saying that they are recommending we stop working at 37 weeks so we can shelter in place. Mentioned it to my coworker and she of course thinks covid is a hoax... I'm just so over today lol. Oh, and the headaches are still going strong. I'll be interested to see what my doctor says at my appointment Thursday.
Questions? Has anyone else heard of delivery plans from their doctor? The letter I got Saturday mentioned quitting work at 37 weeks to shelter in place, and that I can only have 1 support person with me at the hospital and they have to stay with me for 2 weeks after baby is born. Also mentioned having any visitors/support people after we get home to isolate for 2 weeks before visiting baby... I hadnt paid much attention to the policy because I know i still have a bit before baby girl comes and it seems like its constantly changing. Getting the letter this weekend has started up my anxiety about delivering this baby
GTKY: What is the best gift anyone's ever given you? At the moment I'm going to have to go with the pregnancy pillow my sister had gotten me for my last pregnancy. 😅 I had to bust that bad boy out last night 😂
Hope you're all having a good Monday! I'll be glad once I get off work 😅
@kerriec93 Yes, that sounds very similar to what I'm being told. I need to stop working (in person) at 37 weeks according to my OB because of the risks associated with a COVID delivery. I called the pediatrician and he recommended that my two older kids also stay home from school/daycare from 37 weeks. DH and I have to wear a mask the whole time. DH actually isn't even allowed in to the hospital until I've been admitted, they're not allowing anyone other than the mom in the triage area. I'm only allowed one person with me and we are not allowed to leave the room. Once I get home, no visitors unless they're masked and have been self isolating. We should continue with those rules for 6-8 weeks and absolutely no travel.
Baby is the size of: weighs as much as an iPad today
Upcoming Appointments: A week from Friday for my glucose screen
Rant/Rave: I've gained way more weight this pregnancy than I wanted to and my feet are starting to swell. Not necessarily related to the weight, but I'm just frustrated with myself. Pregnancy and pandemic don't mix well for me.
Questions? Tax free weekend is at the end of the month for us, so I'm stocking up on pp items. STM+ anything you couldn't live without? I've got on my list: colace, new peri bottle, tylenol, dermoplast, padsicles, flexi foam pads, tucks pads, nipple balm
GTKY: What is the best gift anyone's ever given you? Honestly, anything that requires thought or a personal touch. I am not big on gifts, but experiences and the effort put in to it.

Week of pregnancy: 25?! I had to check to make sure I had that right. So crazy.
Baby is the size of: cauliflower
Upcoming Appointments: Currently waiting in my car for my OB to call me up to the waiting room.
Rant/Rave: my son started preschool and loves it! My rant is everything to do with my school district. School is supposed to start in a week in person and everything is so up in the air. I put in for leave and I don’t know when I’ll hear back. Our cases remain pretty high. It’s a big mess 😑.
Questions? This is specific to C section moms probably, but I’m so nervous about my big three year old throwing his weight around and climbing on me when I’m a couple days out from surgery. Has anyone dealt with making an older sibling understand that mom is not able to play or have any rough behavior after baby is born?
GTKY: What is the best gift anyone's ever given you? It’s kind of indirect but when my grandma passed away she left me a portion of the money from the sale of her house. I used it to travel to Ireland where her family came from and she never got to visit. DH and I got engaged there. I know she would’ve been so excited for me.
Upcoming Appointments: Midwife visit + Glucose screening on 08/31
Rave: Aside from being tired, I honestly feel great 🤷🏻♀️
Questions? None
GTKY: What is the best gift anyone's ever given you? My two best friends bought me a silver disc necklace with a little rainbow engraved on it after I told them we were pregnant (with our rainbow baby). I love it so much 💗
Thank you @crizz13 ! The letter was fairly vague, stating the shelter in place at 37 weeks and then only having one support person. Didnt mention any other specifics, so I'm going to ask more at my appointment thursday. Luckily I've got about a week of time off I can use before I will officially have to start my maternity leave.. trying not to stress too much but at the same time I don't want to be completely in the dark about the situation
Upcoming Appointments: 8/13 for my 24 week + glucose screening
Rant/Rave: Baby has been kicking ALL over the place lately, lots of new sensations!! My OB said it might take a little longer for me to feel/see the kicks from the outside bc of my anterior placenta. But, little girl’s long legs have been kicking quite hard! I feel like I wasn’t really connected with this pregnancy in the beginning because of the breakup/court case, and because it was unplanned. But I feel like I’ve been bonding with her a lot more lately and I love it💛💛
Questions? Fundal massages. Does your practitioner do them after birth? I’ve read most places do but some don’t. Planning on asking my OB at my apt this week!
GTKY: What is the best gift anyone's ever given you? I got a really nice individual tea steeper set a few years back! I still use it every week.
@1sttimemomma98 after I had my son via c section the nurses did fundal massages every few hours and it was the freaking worst. Thanks for reminding me, I’ll ask my OB about that too. My uterus shrank back down super fast, I could feel it contracting each time I nursed. If it’s optional I don’t want it!
@surlyjaneausten yeah my mom had a c-section and said the massage after was brutal, I can’t imagine ☹️
@hedgepig thank you for the article! I’ve definitely read some differing things about their effectiveness, so I’m a bit skeptical about them. But I’ll probably just defer to what my OB typically does unless I feel strongly about it by the time november rolls around 😂
@crizz13 that’s good to know! sounds like everyone’s had different experiences depending on the circumstances of the birth. which definitely helps me keep my mind/opinion of them open bc I have no clue how the birth will end up going!
Rant/Rave: I ordered plastic bins to organize my refrigerator and I am so excited! Nesting is apparently in full effect!
Questions?
GTKY: What is the best gift anyone's ever given you? My sister somehow found the at least 36 year old pattern for the blanket I still have from when I was a baby and made one for me for my baby shower. I cried so hard! DS uses it now.
Baby is the size of: pomegranate / ear of corn (I got 2 very different sizes this week?? everyone else's cantaloupe sounds better)
Upcoming Appointments: Had a telehealth visit this week with a different provider at my practice. @kerriec93 I asked "I'm going to assume that nothing will change in COVID delivery practices when I deliver in November. What's happening now?" For my hospital, we get 1 support person in delivery, we both have to get a COVID test upon registration and if I'm negative, I don't need to wear a mask. I get 1 extra visitor post-delivery. I also asked about best practices for afterward and he told me and partner and NEW HUMAN! to isolate for 10-14 days, mostly as a concern for others at risk (like our parents who are probably in the high risk age categories), since I'll have been in a hospital. He didn't have anything much after that timeline so... I'll keep asking as we get closer.
Rant/Rave: Baby's been moving a whole lot today, so that's fun! Husband saw and felt his first kick last week.
Questions?
GTKY: What is the best gift anyone's ever given you? This is probably cheating but... my husband and I adopted a dog for our first wedding anniversary gift to each other. She is the best!
Update: my OB does do fundal massages after birth, so that’s good!
Not so good: I gained 10 lbs since my apt 4 weeks ago 😵 I feel like I don’t look different at all, so I was surprised! I have to start watching what I eat more I guess
@1sttimemomma98 I am always so surprised how much weight I’ve gained when I step on the scale! I also gained 10 lbs between my 20 week visit and 24 week visit, but like you said, I don’t feel like I look like I did. So, you’re not alone! 🙂
So late posting this week! Estimated due date (EDD): 11/23
Week of pregnancy: 25
Baby is the size of: Eggplant
Upcoming Appointments: September 2nd (I think 🤔)
Rant/Rave: Sleeping is just not happening and I am 100% miserable. It's amazing I can still function at work these days!
Questions?
GTKY: What is the best gift anyone's ever given you? I love Agatha Christie and always wanted to read her Autobiography but (at the time) it was out of print. I mentioned this to DH (who was only my boyfriend at the time) and he bought me an old library copy for my high school graduation! He also found and bought her other memoir for me and I knew then he was a keeper! 😍
@acdc1109 +1 on the miserable sleep! And it seems like the one time I do get comfortable, I realize I have to pee. 😑 I've tried my hardest to stay on my left side, but then my leg and back starts aching. So then I roll onto my right and it never fails, instant heartburn. About to resign myself to the recliner until November 😅
Upcoming Appointments: just my next midwife one with the glucose screening ugh .. it’s in 3 weeks I believe
Rant/Rave: i have SPD and it’s horrid! My chiro puts my pubic bone back in place every week but my whole crotch hurts all the time! I will be happy when baby is on the outside .
Rave : my son has cerebral palsy and we had an appointment with the orthopedic surgeon and as of now he has no reason to believe Patrick will need surgery to help correct any movement patterns! He got Botox on Friday and he has shown a lot of increased interest in using his walker to walk so hopefully we will move in that direction! Proud of the kid for sure ( he’s 2.5 and has a twin brother )
Questions? None this week, I feel like I’m way more miserable then last pregnancies but not sure if that’s because you forget or the 4th baby is worse lol
GTKY: What is the best gift anyone's ever given you? Hmm my fil gave me a 1957 Chevy nomad a couple years ago and that’s pretty hard to beat!!
Ugh I hate the fundal massage . I am 100% freaked out by epidurals so I have given birth with no meds for my last 2 pregnancies. They shove on your stomach and it makes you want to punch the poor nurse every time!
I am giving birth at a birth center this time so maybe they will be more gentle since everyone who gives birth there is pain Med free so hopefully they keep that in mind . Nursing hurts enough with the contractions the extra physical contact is never appreciate by me lol . I noticed nursing after the se one pregnancy (the twins ) was a lot more painful then with my first . I’m expecting the same since my body knows what to do now.
@ecolton01 Yeah I’ve heard it can be very painful especially on top of nursing I can’t imagine!!
@babywiik to my knowledge it’s when they massage your abdomen to stimulate contractions. it’s done to help pass clots and prevent hemorrhaging and to encourage your uterus to shrink back down (from what I’ve read on the internet and heard from my OB). that being said, there seems to be conflicting research on whether or not it’s actually beneficial 🤷🏼♀️
