Sigg or Klean Kanteen?

I'm finally in the market for a water bottle. ?I'm thinking about one of these two since they're both available at Whole Foods and I wouldn't have to pay shipping.

My last water bottle had a terrible metallic taste so I'm hoping to avoid that this time (I ended up recycling it).

?TIA!?

Re: Sigg or Klean Kanteen?

  • I actually have a Thermos brand bottle.  I got it a Target and am pretty happy with it.  This is the one I have.  It's not pretty, but it works. I actually use it for water for DS's bottles when we are out and about.

  • I'll have to check out Target - good idea. ?I hardly ever go there anymore. ?I have to say I sort of want pretty since it will sit on my desk at work 3 days a week and I'm a boring accountant - anything to liven up the day, ya know?

  • They had some other ones.  I just use mine for my diaper bag so pretty wasn't as important as durable...  They were by the bikes and sporting equipment.

  • pretty?  I vote Sigg.  I don't really know the logistics of the liner in them but my sigg is so cute.  No metallic taste.  My H has a boring one color KleanKanteen.  It also doesn't have a metallic taste - but no pretty design.
  • I don't trust sigg at this point. I used to want one and I even bought like 5 (!!!!!!!!!!) but then returned it after I found some internet reviews with a lot of aprehension. Basically Sigg won't reveal what their liner is made of, which concerns me. I am not saying it is evil but I want to know what is holding my water.

Given those two choices, I would pick KK (but it is made in china).

You might want to check out "camelbak" bottles which are bpa free, have fun colors, and even come small enough for your lil one 1/2L or big enough for an adult up to 1L size. I do not know where the camelbak bottle is made, but you can buy them at REI stores, Moosejaw stores, or Amazon.com

  • yeah, I've read that stuff.  Sad  BOO.

I keep it because it's cute, but DH's KK is nice too.  I end up with it a lot because he uses his re-usable coffee mug all day long

  • I have one of each, and I prefer the Klean Kanteen.  I have a beautiful purple Sigg, and although it is lovely, I don't like that it can't go in the dishwasher and that the mouth of the bottle is narrow.  The KK can go in the dishwasher and is a nice, wide-mouthed bottle.  Also, because the KK doesn't have any kind of plastic liner, I use it for beverages other than water without being concerned about that taste sticking around.

    Just my opinion...HTH!

  • I don't trust Sigg and it's "proprietary" lining.  If you can't tell us what's in the bottle why should I trust to use it?
  • I love my camelbak.

  • I have a green KK that I take everywhere, I love it!

  • For the other posters, I link to this in my blog, but I'll just post the letter here, too. It is from Sigg and is about liner concerns:
