Re: All Week Check-In 8/2/20

  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 18/3, two days away from half way!!!! (She’s getting evicted at 37)

    FTM/STM/STM+:  Stm

    Team Green/Pink/Blue: pink!!!!

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: stapler

    Upcoming appointments:  fluids on Monday.

How are you feeling:  I’m feeling better. I spent Friday night on the bathroom floor and was exhausted yesterday, but I haven’t thrown up yet today.

Rants/Raves: I’m actually struggling to connect with this baby more than I did with my son. My son was VERY active and responsive to stimuli. (He’d wiggle to music, “run away” if you poked him, even at 18 weeks) this baby seems more chill. I feel her a few times a day and am seeing “twitches” occasionally from her movement- but she seems to sleep a lot. Plus I’ve been SO sick. I’m hoping the 20 week US on the 13th will help. I wish my husband could go 😞

    Questions:

GTKY: what is your go-to karaoke or sing in the shower song? I don’t sing. 😳🤣

  • @the_road_to_oz Possibly the difference in movement could be the result of an anterior vs posterior placenta? You could ask when you have your anatomy scan. Every baby is different, but having had both types of placentas during pregnancy, I can tell you there’s a marked difference in the amount of movement that I notice. I’m kind of bummed myself because this is my last baby, and I have an anterior placenta. I still feel baby, but not as much, although I know from my a/s that she’s definitely moving around just as much as the others!
  • @the_road_to_oz, I agree with @readermom1 you should ask about your placentas placement. DD moves a lot more for me then this baby- and at my AS I found out the placenta was anterior and high. It’s funny because now I notice that all the movement I feel is super low. I did start to feel large pushing movements (not just kicks) today which are strong enough to feel high up. I’m almost 22wks.
  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 21+5

    FTM/STM/STM+: STM

    Team Green/Pink/Blue: blue

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: baby is the length of a toothbrush

Upcoming appointments: 24 weeks check up

How are you feeling: pretty good. I’m definitely feeling the physical effects of getting larger! Last night half my body kept falling asleep (the half I was NOT laying on 🤔).

Rants/Raves: I got the official approval to work from home this fall. I am sad to know I won’t see my students in person, but complexity relieved. It’s super crazy to think I likely will not go back until after spring break- literally a year will pass from start to finish of all this. I took a trip to my campus (first time since March) to get a few things from my office and I can tell it’s going to be a mistake having kids back on campus.

GTKY: what is your go-to karaoke or sing in the shower song? I’ve been singing a lot of “going on a safari, in my safari-cari!” 🤣 too much sesame street around here!
  • @the_road_to_oz I have an anterior placenta as well and while I can feel movement, no one has been able to feel it on the outside which is kind of sad. I know it’s super active but haven’t been able to share with my SO yet.

    Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days:
    12/8, 21+5

    FTM/STM/STM+: FTM

    Team Green/Pink/Blue: Green!

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of:
A pack of astronaut ice cream 😂

    Upcoming appointments:
A quick check up this Friday to see if I have yet another yeast infection 😑

    How are you feeling:
Mostly good! Also starting to cross from cute-big to oh-this-gets-in-the-way-big. Heartburn also has started and my burping is OUT OF CONTROL.

Rants/Raves: Just the usual rants, frustrated by COVID and people not doing their part. Nervous for our democracy. Etc etc.

    Questions: None!

GTKY: what is your go-to karaoke or sing in the shower song?
Oh my gosh so many, I loooove karaoke... Total Eclipse of the Heart, Black Velvet, If It Makes You Happy, Bust a Move, Zombie, Stay, Torn... so many more.
  • @laurenspdx have them check for BV too! Very similar symptoms, but much different treatment

  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 21 + 3

    FTM/STM/STM+: STM

    Team Green/Pink/Blue: Pink

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: A weasel!

Upcoming appointments: 8/12 for a fetal echo because of my GD

How are you feeling: Yesterday was crazy. I don’t know what happened but my sugar kept dropping and I almost passed out twice. I called my high risk but it was a different doctor on call. He had me lower my insulin and I’ll definitely be calling my regular MFM dr tomorrow! I almost feel hungover.

Rants/Raves: Sometimes I don’t know if it’s everything going on or just being busy with a 3 year old but I feel less connected this pregnancy. I don’t know if it’s the stress too with everything plus the insulin (I just took a pill last time) and being so focused on the numbers that I forget to slow down.

Questions: Anyone else on insulin/any GD meds? Maybe we can do a GD check in?

GTKY: What is your go-to karaoke or sing in the shower song? I just throw on a mix and sing whatever comes on my playlist but Pink and Bruno Mars are on there!
    DS born 2016
  • @the_road_to_oz I posted the same about the disconnection and then I read yours! I’m wondering if it’s just so much going on, how it just makes it so different to start, that feelings are different.

@laurenspdx Oh no! I got them with DS and never before! Hopefully it goes away soon!
    DS born 2016
  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 20 weeks on Tuesday

    FTM/STM/STM+: FTM

Team Green/Pink/Blue: Find out on Weds

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a bowl of cereal?

Upcoming appointments: anatomy scan on Wed.  Excited and very nervous.

How are you feeling: pretty good!  Tired and feel very full all the time.

Rants/Raves:. Hockey is back! We normally don't watch during the normal season, since we don't have TV.  But we are enjoying playoff hockey and watching something that we don't have to debate for twenty minutes about.  Also just feeling blah about this whole Covid thing.  Just ready for something different in our day than stuck at home and Netflix.

    Questions:

GTKY: what is your go-to karaoke or sing in the shower song?  My husband asks me not to sing, but I love to dance.  So that would be me at karaoke.
  • EDD: December 8, 2020 (21+5)

    FTM/STM/STM+:  FTM

    Team Green/Pink/Blue: BLUE!

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: an endive?

Upcoming appointments: GD testing at 26 weeks

How are you feeling: Honestly not okay. DH has been gone out of town working for just about two months now and although he has always worked like this I feel like he is missing everything and in the same token I am going through everything alone, and I too of that working the front lines as a RN through COVID. So very stressed and emotional

Rants/Raves: Rave that my puppy seems to be getting my cues and hasn’t been as hyper as usual

Questions: What do you do to help when you are feeling overwhelmed!?

GTKY: what is your go-to karaoke or sing in the shower song? I am a terrible singer and even worse at knowing lyrics but I still love signing to choruses of anything I know haha
  • @the_road_to_oz and @jbal918. I am feeling the same way.  I feel the baby every couple of days but just am nervous that I should be feeling more.  We have our u/s this week, so that will be reassuring.  It will also be nice to refer to the baby as a little girl or boy rather than both at the moment.  Maybe we will connect more once we see some more pics!

@jchpg. Glad you got approval to work from home.  My mom is a teacher and her school district keeps saying they are going in.  We shall see what happens!  I know she would prefer to be in based on the difficulty of teaching the really little guys online.  She is also terrified of the exposure.

@tryingktogku. I just remind myself that I am doing the best I can.  I also read this article that mentioned setting reasonable expectations and rewards for yourself.  For example, if you do not want to get out of bed, tell yourself you will get out of bed for an hour.  If you still feel like crap, you can always go back to bed in an hour.  But maybe once you get up, you eat something or shower and then your mood feels better.  I am also working on good enough.  For example, unloading the dishwasher counts as progress (even if you have to do it one dish at a time throughout the whole day).  These tricks were mentioned to me in the context of depression, but also works for bad morning sickness days.  Not sure if that helps with feeling overwhelmed!!  You got this sweet Momma!!
  • @dobiemom11 I feel the more nerves part too! There’s so much downtime to think about everything and I’m already a worrier!
    DS born 2016
  • @bearmomma1 @jbal918 For sure! It’s been just so annoying down there. I just want some answers for how to make it better! I also have only gotten one yeast infection in my life before pregnancy so def feeling unlucky.

@tryingktogku Sorry to hear you’re feeling so crappy. The advice from @dobiemom11 is spot on. Little goals and trying to be as present as possible. Lists help me, they make me feel like things are more manageable.

  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 12/11, 21+2

    Team Green/Pink/Blue: Blue

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: an endive, which is a leaf vegetable. I had to google that...

Upcoming appointments: 8/21 for regular checkup

How are you feeling: heartburn is getting worse, and I’m already taking two Pepcids a day and supplementing with Tums. Help.

Rants/Raves: DD is talking so much lately! I was worried when she still wasn’t saying a whole
lot at 12mo. But now she even points out random body parts without prompting (including teeth, which she proudly identifies after sticking her slimy finger right in your mouth!)

Questions: Anyone else having rib pain?

GTKY: what is your go-to karaoke or sing in the shower song? I don’t karaoke, but my husband and I used to get drunk on someone’s patio and belt out Boyz II Men songs with our friends. “End of the Road” is my fave!

@the_road_to_oz Just to emphasize what everyone else has said, I was worried about not feeling much movement with this one as opposed to DD and it turns out I have an anterior placenta. Not great for my anxiety, but I’m glad to have an explanation!
  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 12/11, 21w3d

    Team Green/Pink/Blue: Pink

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a banana (anyone else sing Gwen Stefani to spell bananas?)

    Upcoming appointments: telehealth next week

How are you feeling: Good! Feeling movement everyday! DH has been able to catch one faint kick!

Rants/Raves: We're putting the deposit down on a daycare today! We decided to just go with this place because we won't really know what we like or dislike about a daycare until she is going there and this place has nothing but glowing reviews! Excited to have that figured out so far in advance!

    Questions: Nope

GTKY: what is your go-to karaoke or sing in the shower song? I'm a terrible singer and cannot carry a tune to save my life... but when I'm drunk enough I'll sing "Fireman" by Lil Wayne  :D
  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 12/17, 20+4

    FTM/STM/STM+: STM

    Team Green/Pink/Blue: pink 💕

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: banana 🍌 /beanie baby/axolotl

Upcoming appointments: CBC/Chem screening for general wellness 8/7 (#adulting!), routine OB appt 8/27

How are you feeling: great! I finally shared the pregnancy news with my work team, and DH and I are planning on doing a FB announcement next weekend after we celebrate DD's 1st birthday on Wednesday.  I feel like the bump has really noticeably popped over the last week too.

Rants/Raves: combo - DD has started walking! It's so cool to see her develop new skills, but it's also getting harder to keep up with her.  My core muscles are so sore every night.

GTKY: what is your go-to karaoke or sing in the shower song? my voice definitely isn't the best, but probably Galileo or Closer to Fine by the Indigo Girls.  I mostly sing in the car where no one can hear me  :D

I'm also feeling a little less connected this pregnancy - not sure if it's ancillary worries about COVID or having a very active baby taking up most of my time or a combination of things.  It makes me sad because I'm almost positive this will be my last baby, and part of me feels like I'm missing out on the experience a little.  Doing weekly check-ins here and keeping up with bump day pictures and pregnancy journal are helpful for making some mental space for THIS baby though, so I'm very thankful for y'all :)

To all feeling disconnected..same! I feel like I'm willing the time to pass sooner so I don't have to have the stresses of being pregnant during a Global Pandemic. This is my last baby and I know shiz will get crazier when baby is here, so I need to enjoy the moment more. DD went back to pre-school today so I'm hoping that will give me a breather to focus more on the pregnancy, and work!

    How are you feeling:
Good! My hips/back are really starting to hurt..I'm hearing crunching noises in my hips when I move and it's super painful when I get up from sitting or laying. I don't remember this pain from last time.

    Rants/Raves:
DD started Pre-school this morning! Dropoff was so hard because we had to leave her at the front door and she was crying and begging us not to leave...she's been to this school before so they're not strangers, but so so hard. I'm sure she's fine now that she sees friends again.
Our mini-bathroom remodel is starting today! The house we moved into last year doesn't have a bathtub. So we're getting that installed into the hall bathroom, and new floors. Woohoo!

GTKY: what is your go-to karaoke or sing in the shower song?
omg I tried singing/rapping Regulators a few years ago at Karaoke and failed so miserably. It's usually my go-to and I can rap it well, but I was pretty tipsy and the screen wasn't showing the lyrics in the right order and it was just a huge ol mess. My H tried hopping on the stage to save me, but it was a fail.

How are you feeling: My back is bothering me, so I finally broke out my pregnancy pillow.  I finally feel pregnant, since my symptoms have mostly been tiredness so far.

Rants/Raves: Rave - DH took DS to visit his parents for a long weekend so I had the house to myself for 5 days.  It was amazing.  I had a bunch of plans but ended up watching 4 old seasons of The Challenge.  It was super nice.

    Questions: None

GTKY: what is your go-to karaoke or sing in the shower song? In college my roommate and I sang "It's Tricky" by Run DMC for karaoke any chance we got.  Nowadays in the shower it's usually some kid song that I can't get out of my head.  The "PJ Masks" theme song is a big hit, and so it anything from "Jake and the Neverland Pirates".

Rants/Raves: my 1 year old is teething. She has 4 teeth coming in at once. She’s had a fever for a week and she wakes up every 2 hours at night in pain. I feel so bad for her and wish I could just take all of her pain away!

    Questions:

GTKY: what is your go-to karaoke or sing in the shower song? I usually listen to podcasts in the shower. But if I do sing it’s usually some early 2000’s bops because it doesn’t get any better than that

  • I don't think I have an anterior placenta, I think she is just less active / opinionated, lol. My son was / is a wild man. I still feel her distinctly several times a day, and she responds if I drink soda or eat candy. My son was just... constant. And would clearly react to things like ... me wearing pants. He sat there one day just over twenty weeks and kicked at where underbelly maternity pants slightly squished my belly - ALL day. "I don't like it. I am squished." I actually thought with him kick counts were ten movements a MINUTE  and called once for "decreased movement." - Yeah, it's ten movements an HOUR. I had successfully been doing my kick counts at ten movements a minute for over a month.

Fingers crossed this one is less sassy.

  • @bartonolivia that's the worst! My son did the same thing around his first birthday.

  • @bartonolivia - we just went through that too.  A dose of Tylenol before bed seemed to really help until the teeth popped through, as well as lots of ice cubes in a baby mesh feeder throughout the day.  Fingers crossed that your LO feels better soon  <3
  • @luckypenny11 @bearmomma1 yup we’ve been giving her Tylenol around the clock and Ice is her favorite snack so she eats and asks for it all day. She’s been generally happy throughout the day the past two days but she really struggles at night and I want to cuddle her to help but she refuses to sleep anywhere but her bed. Breaks my heart

Upcoming appointments: 8/10 I was going to do The appointment over the phone, but decided to go in person so I can hear the heartbeat and make sure it’s the right size and all. I don’t have reason to think there’s anything wrong because the anatomy scan was fine, but it’s my first pregnancy and I get nervous sometimes.

How are you feeling: physically fine . Emotionally all over the place.

Rants/Raves: too many rants.  Nervous, the country is a shit show, I have to start teaching soon, I can’t get my summer work done because my mind is somewhere else.
Raves. I feel pretty good my mom lives far away but she gives great advice and is wonderful. I have a house, and a job and I’m doing a great job.

    Questions:

GTKY: what is your go-to karaoke or sing in the shower song?
i don’t usually sing in the shower. Or much at all but I’m thinking I should start singing to baby.
  • @the_road_to_oz my girl also likes candy - I'm eating some almond m&ms right now and she's moving and grooving.

    Questions: None!

GTKY: what is your go-to karaoke or sing in the shower song? TLC Waterfall! Such a good girl group song! We do a lot of private room Karaoke in the city when the world isn't in apocalypse mode.
  • @willashbaby
its so annoying how long they’re waiting to give us school Plans. And also makes sense because this whole mess has turned out to be so unpredictable

I really hope they let you work remotely!  I’m going to have to teach In person 😬but hopefully with some extra accommodations.

TLC waterfalls is a great choice!  I sung that at the talent show with some girls when I was in middle school.
  • @willashbaby Awesome karaoke choice! Oh my gosh, we used to love going to Sing Sing and to K-Town for karaoke when I lived in NYC
  • Omg @laurenspdx @willashbaby Sing Sing was our place too - on Avenue A!!! I miss it so much.
