Thirsty Thursday 7/23

When not pregnant, what is your favorite adult beverage? OR if you don't drink, what's your favorite refreshing beverage to have on a hot day?

Re: Thirsty Thursday 7/23

  • Most often I'll just have a small glass of red wine after work, but my favorite liquor for cocktails is tequila and I really think I would like a Paloma (tequila with grapefruit soda/juice) in the summer so I want to try that after pregnancy. In terms of refreshing non-alcoholic drinks I've been craving lemonade like crazy lately! I'm not usually a big lemonade person...usually I love ginger beer in the summer.

  • Right before getting pregnant I was really into vodka/tonic/lime. It was a nice, light, and refreshing drink! My husband also makes a mean Moscow mule.

My favorite mocktail is sour soda, splash of cranberry, and squeezed lime. It looks really fancy
  • I don’t drink BUT I love a good iced tea. My go-to this pregnancy has been lime Bubly with a good splash of cranberry juice. Its so refreshing.
  • Rose wine or a Moscow mule a couple of times a month (a lot more during quarantine and pre pregnancy if I’m being honest haha). Otherwise I hardly drink anything besides water.

DH and I are big craft beer drinkers. We love going to local breweries and sampling. My favorite is a juicy New England style IPA. I also love a nice glass of Pinot Noir, and in the summer I enjoy making cocktails with fresh herbs from our garden.

This summer has been all about flavored lemonade and ginger ale with grape juice.

Champagne, dreaming tree “crush” or white claw!
My mom got me the “Fre” champagne and it still has like 0.5% alcohol (per bottle volume) and I still won’t drink it 🙈🤓

Dh and I were on a big margarita kick prepregnancy. I’m excited for next summer! Otherwise I am mostly a beer drinker, we like to go to breweries and try different craft beer too. I’m hoping to up my mixed drink game after this baby though for something new.
  • I don’t drink either, but I love a good cherry limeade, preferably with Sonic ice.

  • I had just gotten back into whiskey before pregnancy. Agree with @HappyFeet34that when quarantine started, drinking increased... A whiskey at the end of the day was a routine.

Now, I hardly drink more than water, but when I can get it, I always go for lemonade. I'm definitely in the market for whatever sparking flavored water is best. @carleym93 you said lime Bubly. I was just staring at that in the store yesterday wondering if I should try it. Anyone else have a good suggestion?
  • Honestly it depends on the season and mood. During the winter I’m a whiskey girl, neat with 1 cube of ice or a brandy OldFashioned. During the spring/summer my drink of preference is a gin and tonic, or a caipirinha if we are going out. As far as wines go I prefer a white or rose as the tannins in reds leave me with a wicked headache!

During pregnancy I love to add fruit/citrus to my water to encourage me to drink. I’ve made strawberry lemon, cherry lime, cucumber mint, and lemon/lime. If I am craving a cocktail I will do sparkling water with grapefruit juice or tart cherry juice.

@whitealbum29 Palomas are so good, definitely give it a try post baby! I love to have them alongside some Mexican food (something about the sour pairs perfectly with the spicy food!)
  • @mayday31 Yum, I definitely will! I love a good caipirinha too in the summer.
  • @lavenderclouds Bubbly is my favorite brand, but I also really like Waterloo
  • Also a big fan of Palomas and Moscow Mules. I don’t drink alcohol very often, though, maybe 2-3 times a year. What  I need to control now is my Coke Zero consumption. Giving the caffeine-free version a try this week
  • Bubly is great! You will have to just see what flavors you like. I love lime, cherry, and grapefruit. I hate the lemon 🤷🏻‍♀️ I have also been into sparkling mineral water, the bubbles are fun

Another Bubly fan over here.  There are only five flavors in Ontario that I know of: lime, orange, strawberry, cherry and blackberry.  Faves are lime and cherry.

Before covid we joked about taking a road trip to the US to get more flavours.

I have a SodaStream so drink a lot of plain carbonated water, sometimes with lemon or lime wedges thrown in.
