Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: finding out, finally did NIPT yesterday!

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Can fit on top of a sugar packet

Upcoming appointments: next Wednesday for part 2 of NIPT

How are you feeling?: still tired & like every other other day RLP meh

Rants/Raves: I had to fight with the nurse at the clinic yesterday about how far along I am! I think I’d know! She was trying to short me 2 weeks! Then the doc came in and measured and whatdya know I’m measuring at exactly what I told her 🙄

Questions: When NIPT results come in will it noticeably say the gender? Should I have my mom look at the results for me bc I don’t want to ruin the gender reveal surprise

Also is anyone eating pineapple?! I’ve been reading mixed reviews online and not sure if it’s okay??

GTKY: Where do you fall on the spectrum of "planner/organized" to "winging it"?
I like to think hubby and I are a good mix. We like to make lists and plan but at the same time be spontaneous ❣️ our little nugget otw was an amazing surprise

  • @briemo On my report it was pretty noticeable, it said "Y chromosome not detected, consistent with female fetus." Maybe have your mom look!

    Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days:
    1/8, 14 weeks 4 days
    FTM/STM/STM+: FTM
    Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: Pink
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: size of a beet, eyes can sense light
    Upcoming appointments: August 4
How are you feeling?: Pretty good, bloating is still definitely a thing. Had a headache most of yesterday but better today.
Rants/Raves: I totally freaked myself out thinking about Zika yesterday, we went to Costa Rica in December 2019 so about 4 months before we conceived. The guidance is you have to wait three months before getting pregnant as a precaution, so we're officially in the clear but I just went down a rabbit hole. I think from the research I did, even if we had gotten it/passed it to one another between December and April, it would have been cleared from my system by the time I got pregnant. I think this was maybe partially Covid anxiety manifesting itself. Will probably go over everything I looked at with my doctor in August just to get her perspective.
    Questions: Nope
GTKY: Where do you fall on the spectrum of "planner/organized" to "winging it"? I'm pretty much a planner. I'm someone who needs to have my weekend mapped out with a list of activities even if it's just like "Clean. Read. Take a walk. Hang out with SO. Cook xyz." SO and I are both like this. I'm also pretty routine-oriented/a creature of habit. I like to think I can be spontaneous sometimes but probably more with small things! Like, we would probably accept an impromptu brunch/dinner invitation when offered.

Upcoming appointments: Aug 8- Private US to find out the sex

How are you feeling?: I’m very grateful to be feeling well.

Rants/Raves: We spent the weekend at our family cottage. We haven’t been able to go since Covid started. It was a very welcomed change of environment. My toddler was over the moon to be able to explore a new place.

Questions: Anyone else finding the app extra glitchy this week?

GTKY: Where do you fall on the spectrum of "planner/organized" to "winging it"? I’m definitely a planner and my husband is great at winging it. We compliment each other well but can also step up to be more or less organized or spontaneous if need be...

    Questions:
GTKY: Where do you fall on the spectrum of "planner/organized" to "winging it"? I’m usually super planned and organized. If I’m feeling lazy though I’ll be more on the winging it side of things.

    Questions:
GTKY: Where do you fall on the spectrum of "planner/organized" to "winging it"?
Very much a planner, it calms me to research things. I also love throwing a good party
  • @briemo I have never heard to not eat pineapple. It is a wives tale that it would help start labor, but if that were true I wouldn't have needed to be induced with my first 😂 What is the concern with eating it?

@supersara2  the house projects seem to never end! They should let you know if there’s been any illness in the office! We just had new countertops put in but it took longer than we thought, kept being pushed back with people in the office getting sick. We’ve had a few ppl for house projects come over with no incidents (coming from a person who was terrified when this all popped off) take all the precautions you need for peace of mind! The numbers jumping back up is nerve wracking!

Also to everyone ❣️ Like @jumpy57 it’s probably an old wives tail but I google everything (ya I’m guilty of it don’t judge me) and it seems to be divided on pregos eating it so I haven’t yet 🤪
  • @briemo I drink a lot of pineapple juice, it helps my nausea and I really enjoy the taste. Concentrated pineapple enzymes (you need a TON of it) can break down proteins so maybe that’s the origin of the old wives’ tale, but if it were a real concern I imagine we’d get warnings from our doctors and ACOG, like those we get against lunch meat and sushi.

Upcoming appointments: in-person appointment at the end of the month
How are you feeling?: much better, thank goodness! My appetite is super duper back and I’m eating sooooo much!
Rants/Raves: we finally told our families about the pregnancy this weekend, it went really well and they were all sweet and thoughtful.
GTKY: Where do you fall on the spectrum of "planner/organized" to "winging it"? Very much a planner. I like being organized and in general it serves as a coping mechanism during uncertain times (like right now).

    @lavenderclouds Obviously im
biased by my love of routine in general, but I can testify that a routine for baby is a lifesaver for all involved. It helps the parents plans their day and makes for a calmer life when baby knows the rhythms of the day and what they can expect. Even in the crazy newborn days, when it’s hard to predict nap times, it was helpful to have a rhythm. And our life took a 180 degree turn for the awesome once we were able to sleep train and have scheduled naps and bedtime.

How are you feeling?: Tired. I have some terrible insomnia and a toddler who calls out only on night where I'm actually asleep
Rants/Raves: My husband is also experiencing insomnia as well as increased pacing attacks and anxiety. He is going to his doctor this week due to the increase in symptoms and frequency.
Questions: I had an appointment last Friday for a HB check. My doctor couldn't find it with the Doppler and we had to do an ultrasound to see the HB. He said the baby was sitting really low in my uterus. Just wondering if anyone has also seen this earlier in pregnancy?
GTKY: Where do you fall on the spectrum of "planner/organized" to "winging it"? Planner all the way. I'm terrible at winging things or doing anything on a whim
  • @lavenderclouds I would say we follow a general routine, but we don't let it stop us from doing things. If someone has to nap on the go or eat at a weird time we do it in the name of fun!
  • @aels12 Yum a 3 hour nap! When I nap really hard I tell myself, wow the baby just sucked so much life force outta me, she must be doing really well :joy:
@supersara2 Congrats on a girl! Wow it seems like team pink is filling up here! That's good that you're thinking about precautions, it sounds like you're planning all the right things. If it's a good company that you trust they should be happy to answer all the questions you have and if you get a bad feeling from the conversation, they're not worth working with! Can you all be outside as much as possible while they're doing the work?
@lavenderclouds Hopefully the final doctor doesn't give you any trouble! Maybe if you find one far in advance (if you haven't already) and explain the situation, other people must have moved far away late in their pregnancies! Life happens. That's good to know re: the three month window! Oh and thanks for the GTKY question, that was yours again! :)
@amm126 sorry that happened with the Doppler, that must have been very unpleasant till you got to see it on the u/s! I'm glad you got to see it. I don't have experience, but did the doctor seem pretty unconcerned like this is just how some babies are positioned?
  • @whitealbum29 That's a good idea about sitting outside! Hopefully it's not too hot to work. I feel comfortable with the precautions they're taking. I trust these people; they've done all of the work we've had in the house so far. Also, I spoke with my sister, who is being as conservative as we are, and she said she'd feel comfortable having people do work in her house; she's also had friends who've done it, so that all makes me feel better about our decision.

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Plum

Upcoming appointments: I had a virtual OB appt today, but have my NT scan tomorrow.

How are you feeling?: physically I’m pretty good. Nausea has subsided and I’m a little less tired, but I’m just worried for the NT scan and anxious for the results.

Rants/Raves: I’ll rant on insurance a bit. Our plan reset on July 1, but I had a bunch of bloodwork done in June. I got billed $1200 of which I have to pay $244 out of pocket for. But I’m annoyed that I got billed $65 for them to check my blood type and then another $36 to determine if it’s positive or negative. I know my blood type, it doesn’t change. Fortunately insurance covered those tests 100% but this is why health care is so damn expensive here. Charging for unnecessary tests like that.

GTKY: Where do you fall on the spectrum of "planner/organized" to "winging it"? I over plan. I make plans to plan things. There is no spontaneity in my life, and I worry about everything.
