Nurseries and Baby Gear

Please tell me I'm worrying about something I can't do anything about!

We live in an apartment and can't move until I find out where I'll be teaching next school year.  ( b/c of school finances, I don't know if I'll be at the same school)  The carpeting in the baby's room is a blue/ivory/tan burbur(sp).  The bedding, etc. is black/white/fuschia and I'm totally in love with it--my SIL made everything.  Obviously they don't match.  I'm obsessing over this, but I know there's nothing I can do.  Please help me!

  • mmk, well - you can do something about it - but it's going to cost a stupid amount of money to do it an apartment that you don't even own.  so if you don't want to replace the carpet - just stop obsessing.  the color of the carpet will not make the baby any more healthy, happy, cute - notta.  so it is not worth it.  there are way more important things to worry about than the color of the carpet in your nursery that you might be moving out of in a few months.  just stopppppp.  it. doesn't. matter.

Just relax, the carpet could be worse.  It could be orange shag from the 70's!

  • it's kinda weird but maybe you could put FLOR carpet tiles down over the carpet you don't like. FLOR stick to each other, not the floor, but you may want to see if you can secure it in the corners of the room. The tiles are cheap so if you hate it it's not like it's a huge waste of money.

  • Could you buy an extra large neutral color area rug to cover it up (and you can take it with you when you move)?
  • I would get a big rug.  We had a big rag rug in DS's nursery in our old house.  It was super soft and comfy for him to get on the floor and play in his room.

    That's my idea too.

  • Lowes has great deals on rugs and carpet remnants! Look on the side across from the rugs that are hanging up. I got an 11x13 rug cream/tan rug (with designs in it, not just berber) there for $60!! You can get the carpet remnants even cheaper and then put a designer rug to match the babies accesories on top.
  • If you really hate the carpet, buy a rug if you can afford it. A large white rug would match the bedding and wouldn't clash too badly with the carpet (black might work too, and stain less easily).?
