We planned on taking in person birthing classes through a local birth support center. That's obviously not possible right now, so the center moved the classes to Zoom. We start ours this week. I wish I could be doing it in person just to meet other local moms, but I'll take online at this point!
Our in person classes are also sounding iffy, though I'm signed up for now just in case. I'm cobbling together a variety of things - Tinyhood is offering their breastfeeding series for free and Motherly's class is free right now too. I'm using the GentleBirth app (to practice hypnobirthing and other relaxation techniques) and we're going to start their online birth class soon - it is a lot cheaper than some of the other hypno courses I looked at and seems just as thorough in terms of time and content. I figured that if it doesn't feel sufficient, I won't feel too bad investing my money in something else at that point. My doctor also was able to send me classes online through the Emmi program which are bare bones and dry, but good basic info. A few of the local doula practices are offering Zoom classes too, and I might try one later on as well if I still feel interested. The only thing I haven't figured out yet is the infant CPR/first aid course since my last one was 23 years ago!
Thanks ladies @barbsaj I’ll definitely look into the ones you mentioned. As much as I want to be prepared I also want my husband to know everything too
Also late to the party...My husband and I were turned onto Birth Boot Camp by our Doula. They have different online courses you can take. We chose the Comprehensive one and it’s been great. Sometime they get a little chatty, but the information is really good. The comprehensive coarse also comes with videos on breastfeeding that we’ve found helpful.
While we are going for a natural birth they do have a coarse that specializes in hospital births as well. Our friends did that one and they said it was so helpful when they went into labor!
I also think they are having a COVID-19 special right now 50% I think?!
