Trying to Get Pregnant

UO Thursday 7/9

It's Thursday, which means...time for unpopular opinions! Let's hear them, ladies!

Re: UO Thursday 7/9

  • Probably not unpopular but pads are the worst way to catch menses. 👎🏼

  • @chindimples04 agreed. I use tampons and pads because I am too chicken to try a menstrual cup.
  • @chindimples04 I still use the overnight pads for nighttime (since I'd be likely to wear a tampon for longer than the 8 hours) and man, some mornings it just feels absolutely GROSS.

I recently got on the cup train and boy was that nice to wake up and not feel all that.

And on that topic, maxi type pads should just not be a thing. Why would anyone want to wear what essentially feels like a diaper?? When I got off BC and started having the heavier periods, the Always Infinity Foam ones were amazing to wear because they're so thin!

  • @inthewoods23 I use the Always Infinity Foam. They are the best ones I’ve used. I can’t use tampons or cups as they both link back to TSS and I have a 25% of contracting it again, but the foam pads make it ALMOST tolerable to wear pads. Almost.

  • @chindimples04 absolutely agree! If I was ever forced to wear pads for all of AF, that infinity foam makes it tolerable.

Is this always infinity pads with flex foam? I've never heard of this magic but just tried to look them up. How long have they been around??

  • I think my UO is that I prefer pads! Especially since the infinity ones came out. Every time I use a tampon all I can think of is all the chemicals used to keep the cotton together, and how I'm shoving them up next to a bunch of organs. I've had two different friends who've had tampons break in half in them and had to go to their Dr to get them fished out (🤢). Plus I just want to get that stuff out of me, so don't love the idea of it sitting in a cup either. I'm weird.
  • @kvh22 I started using them in 2013 so at least that long
  • @_orchid_ I'm still so confused about the whole tampon cotton thing. I thought that was the point of the organic cotton brand tampons because Tampax and Playtex used bleached cotton. But when I was looking up the Tampax website it says they're not bleached! So is the issue the chemicals used during the growing process for the cotton plant?

  • After I hadn't worn pads for a long time, I had to buy some and couldn't remember what types were 'best' (and of course ALL the packaging styles had changed), and I got some kind that were essentially plastic.  They were. THE. WORST. The stuff just ran off to the edges and got on my underwear.  PLus the stupid plastic got sweaty and stuck to my a$$ and hoo-ha.  Like, terrible.  So I'm all for some thin pads (and lived in panty liners for a while), but those plasticky ones can F the right off this planet!

  • @kvh22 yes, those are the ones. They make pads tolerable!
@_orchid_ THEIR TAMPON BROKE INSIDE OF THEM?!? That is the shit of nightmares!
@inthewoods23 maybe? I haven’t used one since 2010, so I’m not 100% sure, but even organic tampons carry the risk, I think?

  • Ok so my UO is that even though I "should be" better about it, I FAR prefer the chemical-laden Tampax over the unbleached cotton organic Lola tampons that I had a subscription to. I got irritated after I kept bleeding around Lola (even the super and super plus) and decided what the hell, I might as well go back to Tampax for now and will reevaluate later. Life is too short to keep having blood everywhere.

I'm going to start looking for a different cup (since I've discovered mine is on a "do not buy" list, whoops) but at this point that's a project for Future MVT. :D

  • @inthewoods23 idk what part of it icks me out more and I admittedly don't know much about the chemicals in a tampon but I know what a cotton ball looks like and it's not that, so I can't imagine what makes it compact like that lol. I will wear one if I absolutely HAVE to but don't use more than like 3/year.

@chindimples04 I KNOW. Both were within 6 months of each other too. One was able to go to her Dr to get it out but the other had it happen on a weekend. I can't remember how she got it out, if her Dr had to go in or if it was urgent care. All I remember is her telling me about how he had to fish around 🤢
  • @_orchid_ I’m more scared that I will somehow put more then one in at the same time. This happened to a friend of mine and she ended up getting TSS. I’m not sure how that even happens but I have heard of it happening more then once.
  • Okay, I guess my UO is that I use reusable pads. I got a cute set from a seller on etsy (black with a sugar skull pattern). They're really comfy, they snap under your panties, so no sticky stuff to stick to your leg on accident, and I never worry about running out. Cleaning is easy,  but my periods aren't crazy heavy, and I'm not easily grossed out, so I know they're not for everyone.
