Trying to Get Pregnant

WTO Tuesday 7/7

    Month/Cycle: 19/22 including 2 benched.

    CD: 2

    WAYDTGKU: OPKs, Tracking CM

R/R:  Well I’m back. And I’ve officially had 6 unsuccessful cycles since my surgery to thin my lining. This was originally when we planned to start over with a new RE, but DH isn’t ready with how COVID is ramping up in our area and I respect that and agree. So we wait. And just keep doing our best to see if we can get this to happen on our own 🤞

@bows22 FX that it'll happen naturally during this 2nd COVID wave and that you won't need an RE! But it's good that you have one lined up.

I've been (mostly quietly) keeping track of what's been happening here, but ready to jump back in now.

    Month/Cycle: 6/6

    CD: 10

WAYDTGKU: HIO during fertile period, temping with Tempdrop, OPKs, CM, seed cycling, PNVs, myo-inositol/ d-chiro-inositol (for PCOS), COQ10, Proov testing, trying out castor oil packs, and started taking melatonin since my doctor doesn’t think I need to supplement with progesterone even though I tested low in luteal phase last month. Also have a couple of RE "meet & greet" appointments starting next week.

R/R: So, uh, I did Day 3 labs last week, and yesterday got the results. My TSH is too high (over what's recommended for ttc), and my thyroid peroxidase is really high... suggesting Hashimoto's? Honestly don't know what this all means. I didn't fast for these tests because there were no instructions to do so; yet the NP made a note "patient was fasting". In any case, I only saw the results last night so still trying to process what this all means. Also, I've done the Modern Fertility test before (last on Mar 2020), and my TSH was in good range then.

Rave: DH and I made a long weekend longer (taking Thu & Mon off) and drove to San Diego; I spent 3 days sitting on the beach and swimming in the ocean. I feel soooooo relaxed (well... until I saw the test results). This was our "mini-moon" since our actual honeymoon has been indefinitely postponed (was supposed to be in April).

CS/Q: I’m tracking using my premom bbt thermometer and tempdrop which I stared using last cycle; I’m pretty surprised about the differences in temps. Still not sure if the tempdrop is worth the $.

  • @bows22 I was actually wondering if you'd be going back (to a new RE) to at least do another round of testing and see how your lining is now, after 6 months. I'd be curious how everything looks and if the surgery was indeed successful after several months. You may have covered this months ago but is that surgery permanent? Or does the lining just continue to thicken over time again?

  • @bows22 im sorry DH int on board.  FX you wont even need to switch after this cycle

@acleverusername your minimoon sounds great! but sorry about those results.  do you have to see another doc now or can this one get you necessary Rx to correct?

@legallykate (tag from yesterday) wishing you all the best with the stim! so exciting!!!!

R/R: well i am here in my company's local office helping out today (not my normal commute into NYC) so ill be on and off.  weird logging in here from an office and not from home! but lurked yesterday after posting and ghosting.  hoping to only be here a few hours and then head home to get some things done

CS/Q: i think O is today based on peak yesterday afternoon, so will see how temp goes tomorrow.  likely moving over to TWW shortly!

@acleverusername your trip sounds amazing. I’m glad you had such a great time! But I’m sorry about your test results. Do you have an appointment to go over?

@kpearse99 so when they thought I had a polyp they said I should go back in 3 months. Then after the surgery when they saw it was just a thick lining, they said that some people just have naturally thick lining and I wouldn’t have to go back. (Since they tested for endometrial hyperplasia and all was good). I didn’t ask too many more questions because in my head I knew I was done with them and I would either get KU or be at a new RE. I obviously didn’t factor in a global pandemic 😂. But I’m comfortable continuing to try on our own for now until things calm down. The RE we are planning to go to is a little bit away and I don’t think they are going to want me right now anyway because of our covid numbers.
  • bows22bows22 member
@asf0613 yes I’ve had to go to the office or a client a handful of times and it’s so weird every time! It’s hard to imagine going back in every day again
  • krash_krash_ member
@bows22 it seems like you are taking everything in stride with COVID. I hope people can get their act together so things settle down a bit and you can start with your new RE.
@acleverusername I didn't know your TSH could fluctuate that much! Your minimoon sounds amazing! MH and I never took a 'real' honeymoon so maybe for our 10 year we could do a big trip.
@asf0613 I have not been in the office since before we went on vacation in March. It would be so weird to not be at home!
@legallykate following up from yesterday, YAY for your stim! That is so exciting and I'm glad things are moving along so quickly for you!

    Month/Cycle: 8/8

WAYDTGKU: PNV, BBT, OPK's, HIO EOD, Proov, Whole30, pom juice

R/R: Not much to rant or rave about today. Whole30 day 2 has been good but we spent an entire months worth of groceries yesterday, just stocking up on some pantry staples and quick stuff that is compliant. I really want to take a nap but I should probably get some work done.

CS/Q: Spoiler alert, Proov test! Does anyone want to weigh in on my Proov baseline test? @acleverusername? My baseline is juuuust barely negative. Is that normal? Is the test line an indication of the level of progesterone? So is my pre-O progesterone high?

  • @bows22 hopefully it will happen naturally and you won’t need to switch to a new RE!

@acleverusername your trip sounds so nice!! Sorry that your results have you feeling stressed. Hopefully your dr will have some insight and a plan!

@asf0613 enjoy the time out of the house!

    Month/Cycle: 8/8

    CD: 4

WAYDTGKU: temping, tracking CM, PNV, baby aspirin, OPKs, progesterone after O

R/R: I had my CD3 bloodwork and an ultrasound done today, so I’ll be curious to see those results as they come through. The doctor that did the ultrasound seemed happy with everything that he saw so that’s good!

CS/Q: nothing interesting to see yet

  • I have an appointment to review with results with another OB at my clinic; I deduced that she's more of a "specialist" OB; i.e. I was told I could discuss supplementing with progesterone in luteal phase with her and any medicated cycles too. She'll also likely put me on thyroid meds. I'm just really bummed at this being yet another hurdle to overcome. I'm a project manager so I'm used to planning for worst case scenarios at work and it carries over into personal life as well. But of course I always hope that things don't go down that path. I have my fertility acupuncturist appointment tomorrow; maybe this is something she can help with.

@asf0613 FX that O is today; see you over in TWW in a while (hopefully). I also can't imagine going back to the office; I really enjoy my lazy mornings before starting work.
@bows22 it sounds like you're OK with waiting / trying on your own before going to see an RE? Or is it just YH who is not comfortable?
@krash_ interesting about your baseline proov. Honestly, the Proov test is FDA approved _ONLY_ to confirm ovulation, but from reading the facebook group, ppl are obviously using it to read their progesterone levels. Are you in the Facebook group? My baseline is always really dark, so I don't have a personal opinion on that.
@runningoncookies I hope your CD3 results are better than mine.

@acleverusername don't stress!! I have borderline hashimotos when not medicated and it's super easy to manage. I've been taking daily medication for about 15 years for it. Your Dr will prescribe a medication (probably synthroid) and you'll have to take it daily at a certain time of the day. I remember feeling overwhelmed when I was first diagnosed but once your Dr gets it under control you should be ok! Thyroid problems are very common. I usually have mine tested by my OB when TTC rather than my GP bc my OB prefers lower levels than what my GP considers normal. It shouldn't matter that you were fasted for the BW for thyroid, so don't stress about that. Really, truly, for all the things that can cause trouble TTGP this is a relatively easy fix. Also, when you do get KU, having a history of thyroid issues means you'll likely get a bit more attention like bloodwork and a few extra high level ultrasounds. I'm hoping this helps with your stress a bit. Good luck with your Dr!!

@krash_ I’m sure it’s easier to do whole 30 when you have a bunch of good stuff piled up. I don’t know if I could ever do it. Have you done it before?

@acleverusername I’m glad you have an appointment lined up to review results and make a plan! I’m sure you will feel better once I have a plan. And yes I’m good waiting. I just mentioned to MH that it’s been 6 cycles and he said “I don’t think we should do it now until the number of cases comes back down” and I thought that made sense. If I really wanted to move forward now, he would definitely do it, but the prior RE seemed to think we could get pregnant on our own so I’m okay staying on this path for awhile longer.
  • @bows22 sorry that covid is messing with your plans! Any chance you can do a video consult to get started?
@asf0613 hope you got out of the office already today! See you in the TWW!!
@krash_ I hear ya on the groceries- I'm putting together a grocery list today for a bunch of healthy recipes I found and $$. I started cutting sugar out last week and was super grumpy but feel like I'm coming out the other side now. Good luck!
@runningoncookies glad your bw and ultrasound went well today! I am having an ultrasound tomorrow but missed the boat on CD3 testing- looks like I'll be waiting for August for that which is kind of frustrating. FX you get some answers!

    WAYDTGKU: seeing a RE tomorrow!!

R/R: I've been riding my bike every day for the past week and it's awesome! I just got one last month- hadn't had one since I was a kid- and forgot how much I like to ride. I've had a few small errands to run around town so I've been riding to do them instead of driving. I have a project for an online class due at the end of the week and I've been procrastinating so badly for it. Hoping to get it started this afternoon.

CS/Q: none, haven't been temping yet this cycle.

@bows22 we've done two before. It's definitely easier with us being home and able to cook more. MH is doing it with me too so we at least aren't cooking multiple meals.
@_orchid_ It's so hard! I keep looking at all the things we had before our Whole30 like left over cheesecake and cookie dough. I put it all in the freezer to wait for me! I got Nutpods coffee creamer for my coffee and that has helped with the transition a little.

  • @_orchid_ THANK YOU. That information is super useful. I honestly was asking myself "what does this mean" and preparing to go doing a Google rathole. I think you pulled me out of it. 🤗

  • @krash_ mine looked like yours too! but a line is a line i guess!
@acleverusername one way to look at this is that if your thyroid is to blame for trouble TTC, getting on medication brings you that much closer.  but i understand its hard to think positively on this.  sending you good vibes!
@runningoncookies hope your bloodwork comes back quickly and is helpful!
@_orchid_ wishing you a good appointment tomorrow! also thats awesome about your bike! it must be a great feeling to get into that and be able to do errands too
  • Well, AF showed her ugly head 5 days early. 👎🏼 So, here I am.

    Month/Cycle: 2/2

    CD: 1

WAYDTGKU: currently bleeding profusely into a small diaper (can you tell I'm annoyed 😂), OPKs, temping, charring

R/R: See intro to reply. However, my dad and FIL are here finishing up the deck project, so I’m looking forward to that being done!

    CS/Q: Boring.

@bows22 sorry to see you here. 👎🏼

@acleverusername hope you got to enjoy your mini moon and you get some answers about your lab results.

@asf0613 gosh, I haven’t seen my classroom in months. I’m sure it’s weird being in the office.

    @krash_ I vote map over work! 🤣

@runningoncookies I’m so happy to hear things looked good at your ultrasound today. 🤞🏼 This is your cycle!

@_orchid_ gosh, I haven’t ridden my bike in years! You’re making me want to bust it out!

  • @chindimples04 sorry for CD1.  and worse yet when it comes early.  hopefully this cycle is it for you!
  • @chindimples04 sorry about CD1. 5 days early seems like a lot, I would be annoyed too! Busy that bike out!

@acleverusername I'm glad it helped! I was 20 when I was diagnosed and the thought of having to take a medication every day for the rest of my life was what got me. However I quickly adjusted - I had awful, debilitating periods bc of my thyroid and they were instantly better after starting medication. I wish I had my thyroid checked when I was younger- thinking about all the AFs I was so miserable, I feel so bad for my young self! I hope yours is just as easy to manage!
  • @asf0613 yes, though now I've got a few things to blame: thyroid, PCOS, DH's swimmers. Not sure whether to laugh or cry. Blergh... the silver lining was my AMH is good, as is my FSH (previously it was a bit high). Small blessings.

@_orchid_ yes, the idea of being on meds for the rest of my life is disconcerting; my mom used to have hypothyroidism (don't know if she ever got diagnosed w/ Hashimoto's; she always referred to her "thyroid issues" and nothing more) which apparently got cured by some homeopathic remedy. I'm not sure I believe in that stuff though. You've given me hope for sure.

@chindimples04 Boo for AF! Hooray for deck being almost done!

@_orchid_ that’s so cool that you are able to ride your bike around like that. It makes me think that you live in stars hollow haha. We will probably hold off on getting established at a new RE until we feel comfortable doing treatment (and I’m thinking they will probably want new tests too since ours are over 6 months old at this point). But I’m fine with it honestly. Maybe next month I’ll feel differently and we will reevaluate!

@chindimples04 so sorry to see you over here too!!
  • Good luck with IVF @legallykate
