Re: WTF Wednesday 7/1

  • It's baby day at our house (basically I have a prenatal appointment today) and my husband and I have an agreement that we can Chick-fil-A for lunch on baby days.  So I have waiting a couple weeks for my lunch!  And then my dog ate half of my sandwich!

WTF to it being July.  How is it already July?  I feel like time has no meaning in 2020.

  • WTF to the weather here in Tampa. The heat index has been over or close to 100F for over a week and we’ve barely had any rain. We can’t get our house under 76-77 degrees in the afternoons. I’m dyinggg for a pool day. Also my grass is getting a little brown. Normally we have daily afternoon rain this time of year. When will we get a break!
  • @dobiemom11 I feel like that entitles you to get replacement Chic-fil-A on another day of your choosing!

WTF to the receptionists at my OBs office who can’t figure out how to send in a prescription renewal for prenatals to Walgreens! I drive through and it’s not there. I call the dr office, sit on hold for about 20 minutes and finally they say they are sending it. I call Walgreens a little later. Guess what? Still not there!
  • @readermom1. My husband did offer to go pick it up for dinner tonight.  I spent the day crying and overwhelmed, so he was desperate for anything to cheer me up.  Hormones have been running hot today!  We made dinner instead, but I will cash in on my replacement sometime.

Also that is frustrating about the pharmacy and office.  Like I am waiting to pick it up, so get your junk together.  Hopefully they will get it straightened out.
  • WTF to potty training. We've gone at it wholeheartedly for weeks and it's just not happening. Between an old dog an uncooperative little boy I'm cleaning unreasonable amounts of pee of the floor. And the laundry! So much laundry.

Thank God we got rid of most of the carpet.

  • Wtf to grandma who is already being prejudiced against the baby in favor of her older grandkids (who are all my children as well).

  • @mom_of_the_vogels Solidarity mama, potty training sucks! How old is your LO?
  • @mom_of_the_vogels I feel for you. I almost quit a week into potty training. The only thing that kept me going was the thought that I'd have to do the first week again later. Good luck!

@mom_of_the_vogels good luck! How old is your little one? We considered potty training with DD a month ago. She’s nearly 23 months now. She may have been ready, but as parents we were not....😂

it would be awesome to have per potty trained by the time the baby arrives... but I’m not sure if we’re ready.

My WTF, unreliable childcare. I can’t complain too much because we have help, but at least once a week out babysitter can’t make it for some reason or another. It always seams to fall on the day when DH and I have the most meetings and work planned 🤦🏼‍♀️

  • @nmadjeski @gingkomama @jchpg
He turned 4 in March. He wasn't ready at 2, his little brother was born when he was 2.5 so I didn't really expect anything until he turned 3. Unfortunately we cloth diapered him when he was the only (which I loved!) but I couldn't manage it with 2 littles so he switched to disposable diapers which made diapering more comfortable.

We tried 1 big push a few months ago but after 2 weeks he just didn't care. I just don't know what to do to motivate him 😞

  • @mom_of_the_vogels. So never potty trained, but I know some friends who had success with potty M&Ms.  I am sure you have tried something like that!  Best of luck to you!

My MIL offered to teach me to breastfeed after I mentioned that my mother did not have any success with it.  I might be desperate in January, but right now, that just seems like a line I don't want to cross.  My insurance covers a lactation consultant, so hopefully it will not be necessary.  Not sure if she is channeling all her mother advice into me, since her daughter has never seriously dated anyone and doesn't seem likely to have kids at this point.  Seems odd and very personal to me, but I am sure it is coming from a good place!???!
  • @dobiemom11 I am sure it is coming from a good place and it's kind of her to offer. I'd still stick with an IBCLC, but not because it's too personal. Honestly, a lot has changed in the last 30+ years and much of the advice our parents were given is now considered outdated or dangerous (including the back to sleep campaign) and I would rather work with a current professional who currently works with lots of lactating mothers because nursing problems can get really bad really quickly.
  • @mom_of_the_vogels right there with ya. DS will be 4 in Oct. It's so frustrating because we were doing good and then he just lost interest. I'm honestly not sure how to motivate him either. We want to start with DD (21 months) and I'm kind hoping that gives him a push.

@dobiemom11 we tried the m&ms and he just didnt care unfortunately. And in regards to your MIL I'm sure she meant well. I would definitely utilize the lactation consultant though. Like @gingkomama said, SO much has changed!
