Re: Weekly Check In, Week One (10/1-10/7) 6/29

  • How far along are you? 26ish weeks

Due date? 10/05/2020 - but my OB says I have a minimal chance of making it to 38 weeks, so probably mid September.

Upcoming appointments? I have another MFM appt tomorrow for a follow up on the GD and another ultrasound because they couldn't get a good view of the heart.

    Rant/rave?
    Rant:
My GD with DS was diet controlled until like the last month. My fasting levels are just high this time. I got put on meds a week ago and the levels are still too high about half the time. So we'll probably be upping that tomorrow. After meal ones are mostly okay at least. Also, packing continues to suck. I'm really hoping for good progress and motivation today.
    Rave:
DS has a book that counts hugs and one of them is "teeny tiny finger hugs". Yesterday he grabbed my fingers and said "tiny finger hugs". I awwwwww'd. And got a photo. Also - he's sooooo tan (comparatively).

Questions? Can someone please invent a method to just teleport my things and arrange them correctly? K thanks. 😬🤦🏻‍♀️

GTKY: What is your go to 4th of July potluck dish? I don't remember ever going to a 4th of July Potluck. DH is a chef so he's the one who usually makes things. On kind of answering last week's question at the same time though, I make excellent white chicken chili that I think could be made into a dip or serves in bread bowls at a pot luck. But realistically... Chips? Grocery store potato salad? Oh! Betty Crocker Bacon and Ranch pasta salad. I've made that before for BBQs. 😆

Upcoming appointments? Sometime in July... My OB suggested I just do my 1hr glucose test the same day so I don’t have to make a separate trip, because it’s only 2 days outside the window... happy dance!

Rant/rave? My work gave us the entire week as a paid holiday so I’m trying to squeeze as much nesting in as possible! 🥳 But I’m not sleeping well and my stamina is low and my joints hurt so I’m moving at a slower pace than I would like.

    Questions?

GTKY: What is your go to 4th of July potluck dish? I also can’t say 4th of July potlucks are big in my circle, but other occasion potlucks... it depends on the “theme” and the audience. Bacon-wrapped lil smokies frequently. Corn salsa and tortilla chips recently. Sometimes cupcakes.
  • How far along are you? 26 weeks today!

    Due date? 10/5

    Upcoming appointments? Next Wednesday, 7/8

Rant/rave? I’m so freaking tired all of the time. Friday I took my 3 tiny humans strawberry picking. Saturday I made jam. Sunday I made a strawberry cobbler in the morning and then I was basically dead to the world for the rest of the afternoon. I took a 3 hour nap because I was so tired.

Questions? Who else is a mom of 3+? I’m interested to hear others experiences for bringing home #4.

GTKY: What is your go to 4th of July potluck dish? Potlucks aren’t a thing for me, but I do love making this orange fluff jello salad. It has mandarin oranges, vanilla pudding, orange jello, marshmallows and cool whip. It’s so bad for you but soooo good!

    Due date? 10/7

Upcoming appointments? July 17 at 28 weeks for a growth scan and regular OB appointment

Rant/rave? @wineren We couldn’t see all the parts of the heart either. I was walking and doing squats trying to get her to flip over but she wouldn’t cooperate.

    Questions?

GTKY: What is your go to 4th of July potluck dish?

I usually make appetizers for gatherings. Stuffed dates, charcuterie boards, dips, etc.

    Due date? 10/7

Upcoming appointments? 3-hour glucose intake 7/6, with a regular appointment sometime in there

Rant/rave? Having a hard time keeping up enough energy to actually finish household stuff (like dishes, putting laundry away). Ugh.

Questions? Anyone using a doula? I’m having a hard time deciding which one to go with

GTKY: What is your go to 4th of July potluck dish?
I make the strawberry summer sheet cake from Smitten Kitchen and it’s amaaaaaazing

    Me: 29, DH: 29
    TTC since: 2/13
    Long, anovulatory cycles
    Began fertility testing 12/13
Ultrasound and bloodwork: Everything looks good (according to my ob/gyn)
    HSG: waiting to schedule
SA: scheduled with RE for 1/6/14
  • @mamaheatherl After the birth of our first, we decided that we would probably hire a doula the next time... but when the next time came around, first on the list was potentially changing delivery hospitals and doctors (because we moved, not because we were unhappy with either) and we only got one tour done before Covid shut everything down. We decided to wait and see what things were like as it was getting closer, and at this point, it seems like the one-support-person rule will still firmly be in place by October, so we haven’t pursued it any further.
  • How far along are you? 26 weeks tomorrow

    Due date? 10/7

Upcoming appointments? July 24. Had my glucose on Monday

Rant/rave? I’m having really bad anxiety attacks at night plus my insomnia that I’ve averaged out about 1-2 hours of sleep at night. Since my 2.5 year old nephew had surgery, my 8 year old niece has been staying with us. That means we have a 8 year old, soon to be 5 year old, and 3 year old at home. I finally was able to dose of for like an hour during the day and my DH came in the room to wake me up to take care of my niece. I broke down crying since it was the first deep sleep I’ve had in a while and he interrupted it bc he didn’t want to watch the kids. He tried to make it up last night by waking up when I kept getting restless to make me tea, massage my back etc. At this point I just want to sleep!

Questions? Anyone else experiencing insomnia or anxiety? Doctor told me to try Unisom. If I still can’t sleep she will put me on Zoloft and I really don’t want to be on any anxiety medication while pregnant or breastfeeding.

GTKY: What is your go to 4th of July potluck dish? We don’t do any big type of celebration for 4th of July. My DS bday is the same weekend so we usually have his bday party instead. Due to Covid he and I will spend The Weekend trying out new baking recipes
  • How far along are you? 26 weeks tomorrow!

    Due date? 10/7

Upcoming appointments? 7/8 - 3 hour glucose test (again) and regular OB appointment

Rant/rave? My belly is really itchy today!!!

    Questions? None right now

GTKY: What is your go to 4th of July potluck dish? Hmmm, potlucks aren't big in my circle either. We have immediate family near us, so we'll usually cook out, but it's pretty simple. I do make really good deviled eggs. :)
  • @Kurtni In my limited experience, babies hide their hearts 100% of the time 😆. My two year old had a second ultrasound specifically for trouble imaging his heart too. I had the follow up ultrasound today and it took over an hour because he wasn't cooperative, but they finally got a good look at it - and it's all good. My FIL was born with a genetic caused hole in his heart so with both babies they have been extra cautious in checking it.
  • @Kurtni & @wineren they had a hard time seeing my son's heart too. I had to go back in and he was still being difficult, but they eventually were able to see what they needed to and all was good.
