What brings you here? I'm old - almost 40. More importantly, though, my son (my first kid) was born at 26 weeks, so I'm high risk of preterm labor. I carried my daughter to 37w3d, though, so I'm hoping for a similar outcome this time.
How are you coping being high risk? (Mental health check, physical modifications?) Mentally, I'm mostly fine, I think. Taking it one day at a time. I start progesterone shots next week and have my first cervical length check tomorrow. My age makes me eligible for a Level 2 ultrasound at the MFM, which is basically a more-detailed version of the regular ultrasound. Assuming everything looks good, it will be cool to see the baby at the anatomy scan in that kind of detail.
Upcoming appointments? Tomorrow's cervical length check, and anatomy scan sometime in the next few weeks.
What brings you here? I have a pacemaker for a seizure disorder caused by my heart, as well as 4 structural issues with my heart. Also this is an IVF baby, which is also considered more high risk.
How are you coping being high risk? (Mental health check, physical modifications?) Fine. This is my first pregnancy, so I don't know any different.
Upcoming appointments? July 16th - anatomy scan, OB appointment, fetal echo, and echo for me. Going to be a long day at the hospital!
What brings you here? Gestational diabetes and kidney disease
How are you coping being high risk? (Mental health check, physical modifications?) I started insulin shots four times a day which has helped and my kidney disease just gets monitored. I take my blood pressure twice a day
Upcoming appointments? I have an OB appt Thursday and a kidney appt on the 8th. I also have my 20 week scan in July.
What brings you here? Heart defects (ASD and PFO) HG and concern over complications from my first which may or may not have been related to leaving the first two issues untreated.
How are you coping being high risk? (Mental health check, physical modifications?) honestly- I’m doing better being “high risk” than with my first. We didn’t know anything was wrong, but I felt something wasn’t right. So this one is actually easier.
Upcoming appointments? Cardiologist this Thursday, I had one sided heart enlargement with my first, so we are watching for that.
Any questions? How far ahead did your MFM call? I’m supposed to see them in six weeks, wondering if I should poke them.
the_road_to_oz my oldest (now 6.5) was diagnosed in utero with a congenital heart defect at 20 weeks. She did have to have surgery at 2 days old but she's thriving now. If you want to chat let me know.
What brings you here? Twin pregnancy - di/di but identical girls and also 39 so double whammy. My first also had a congenital heart defect and was a premie so i'm monitored more closely.
How are you coping being high risk? (Mental health check, physical modifications?) I'm ok, a little nervous about all the elevated risks but trying to take it one day at a time. I do hate how big i feel already and that i can't work out like i'm used to. Any jumping or jogging is a no no (i jogged with my other 2 pregnancies till about 8 months).
Upcoming appointments? Cardio appt for double echo in 2 weeks - due to my first, babies get the echo too. And i get cervical length checks every two weeks since i went to labor early.
