I'm 7+3 today; my fertility center released me after we saw the heartbeat last Monday, so I'm looking forward to my 10 week appointment with my OB soon. I've felt extremely hungover for the last week or so--luckily with minimal actual vomiting. But feeling horrible is keeping me from being too concerned about whether or not I'm still pregnant! Silver linings, I suppose.

I was constantly sucking on ginger candy to get through work last week, but now the mere thought of the candies makes my stomach turn. Brown sugar cinnamon pop tarts and ruffles potato chips have been extremely helpful in the last two days. I wish I weren't so reliant on junk food, but anything to get through these few weeks, I suppose.

Today, I get to meet my 4 month-old-niece--she was born two weeks after the due date for my second pregnancy loss. My sister was so sweet about everything and understood that her pregnancy news was really difficult for me. But I am thrilled to me this little sweetheart, especially in light of my current state!

Hope you ladies are doing well.

  • How far along are you? 9w today!

How are you feeling (symptoms, mentally/emotionally)? Exhausted and nauseated, but at least no actual puking yet!

Any upcoming appointments? I'm supposed to have one tomorrow to check hb and draw blood for a genetic test, but we may end up putting it off a week or two. The uncertainty is hard!

GTKY: What is your go to early pregnancy snack/morning sickness cure? Apparently I'm now a person who puts peanut butter on oreos? Also really loving refrigerated apples and anything with melted cheese.

How are you feeling (symptoms, mentally/emotionally)? Feeling better this last week - more energy.  Though pretty nauseated when i wake up.  Still feeling pregnant, which helps my mental state.  My MMC was my first pregnancy and i had a sudden stop of symptoms, which i didn't understand at the time.

    Any upcoming appointments? 7/15

GTKY: What is your go to early pregnancy snack/morning sickness cure?  I've been eating allllll the peaches.

How far along are you? 8+3

How are you feeling (symptoms, mentally/emotionally)?  Physically fine. My boobs are still sore constantly. A little bit of random cramping (like when I sneeze?)  Some non-PG symptoms like allergies and pain from a giant hole in the flesh of scrape on my knee but nothing earth-shattering.  Mentally still holding on.  Trying not to get too excited about hitting our 8W part.  Getting nervous about getting closer to my last "good" appointment date from my previous

Any upcoming appointments?  Appointment with the new OB's office on July 6th.  I really wish there was anywhere else to go, but this is the legit ONE office in town that still does pre-natal care, and having regular appointments 45+ minutes away during a Midwestern winter sounds terrible.  My appointment got switched to their midwife, who coincidentally is the midwife I wasn't super thrilled with from our previous PG (but everyone I know loves her, so I'll give her another shot).  The real kicker is that DH's aunt works there, and does patient education, so I'm sure we'll get plenty of ""quality"" time together.  She also doesn't take COVID seriously at all, which is a huge eye roll for me.  Part of me is paranoid she's going to tell the in-laws before we do, but then I remember if she does I can totally report her ass for a HIPAA violation and that gives me small petty satisfaction. Maybe I'll be lucky and she'll be off work that day.

GTKY: What is your go to early pregnancy snack/morning sickness cure? Luckily no morning sickness so far! I have been snacking on way too much junk food lately though. Apparently marshmallows are currently my thing.

@eqv - That's awesome!  I remember it was such a good feeling when I got released from my RE last go around :) Congrats! I hope you got to enjoy your niece today!

@adorebel - +1 for team melted cheese. Actually, I think queso should be it's own food group ;)

@Cats*in*space - I totally get the mental relief tied to symptoms. That's the only reason I don't complain to DH more about my boobs hurting.

How are you feeling (symptoms, mentally/emotionally)? Symptoms suck. First trimester sucks. Progesterone sucks. I’m thankful to still be pregnant and I’m anxious because I know I am not out of the woods yet. I am emotional about all the things. 😂

Any upcoming appointments? My next appointment is the nuchal translucency and NIPT on 16 July.

GTKY: What is your go to early pregnancy snack/morning sickness cure?
Meds. Ginger ale sometimes helps. Trying to eat small meals or snacks through the day sometimes helps. Sticking to bland flavored foods helps. 🤷🏻‍♀️

@eqv sorry for the bittersweet moments but congratulations on the niece! Upside is that for most people the nausea goes down quite a bit and really is only eating for survival for a few weeks.

@adorebel any particular reason to postpone the appointment?

@Cats*in*space I am seriously jealous of you having more energy! Glad that the symptoms are reassuring for you!

@wildmagelet you’d think the “family” connection would mean that someone else would need to provide you with those resources... 😕😒 I hope the appointment goes better than you expect and the second impression is a good one. 🤞🏻
  • @mdfarmchick - Thanks! I'm hoping my second impression is much better.  But I had a lot of poor 'customer' service leading up to my MMC, so thinking of her and my first OB leaves a bit of a sour taste in my mouth for how they handled it (or didn't, really).

How are you feeling (symptoms, mentally/emotionally)? For the most part still nauseous, tired, sore boobs, and not wanting to eat. Mentally I get paranoid anytime I don’t feel a symptom briefly.

Any upcoming appointments? July 7th is my first OB appt and I cannot wait!

GTKY: What is your go to early pregnancy snack/morning sickness cure? That does not exist for me.. I tend to avoid eating until afternoon

    How far along are you?
    7+1 (DD Feb 14th)

How are you feeling (symptoms, mentally/emotionally)?
fatigued and nauseous. I have only puked once so far so that's something. I'm constantly hungry but everything sounds gross. Definitely heightened sense of smell.

Any upcoming appointments? July 27th. I just had my first apt today and got to see the heartbeat! That's further than I made it last time so I'm really pleased with that.

GTKY: What is your go to early pregnancy snack/morning sickness cure?
The only thing I can stomach in the morning is a plain bagel with cream cheese

@adorebel I'm off to add oreos and peanut butter to my amazon grocery cart
@WildMagelet that sucks you don't have many other OB options. Hopefully the aunt will be on her best behavior

  • @WildMagelet I get it. I changed my insurance plan to be able to see another OB after how crappy the nurse staff handled my first miscarriage. 😕 It sucks to not have a lot of options.

@babymamadimo I bet you can’t wait for that appointment! I feel the same way if a symptom gives me a break for a minute. I literally reminded my friend last week that going to the bathroom extra, and the bloat and the unglamorous stuff are all symptoms I sometimes forget count as symptoms when the nausea and the sore boobs and the super miserable symptoms subside.

@KLS123 yay for a good appointment and a heartbeat! That’s a great day!

How are you feeling (symptoms, mentally/emotionally)? Getting more nauseous. (Was super nauseous, it kind of went away and now it’s picking back up). Super fatigued. Like really bad. Food aversions, some puking, the usual.
Mentally: so much anxiety. Like I just keep waiting for the bad news to come.

Any upcoming appointments? I’m seeing my endocrinologist on 7/7. My sugars are already effed up and I’m doing the glucose test on 7/11 (I’ll be 10 weeks). I have PCOS but it didn’t cause any problems with my pregnancy with DS

GTKY: What is your go to early pregnancy snack/morning sickness cure? Any bland carbs. Pretzels, crackers, toast
  • How far along are you? 7 weeks

How are you feeling (symptoms, mentally/emotionally)?  I feel pretty crappy, nausea, my sense of smell is through the roof and it’s all so bad, and it just feels hard to walk around.

    Any upcoming appointments? Next Monday

GTKY: What is your go to early pregnancy snack/morning sickness cure? I don’t knowwww everything is gross right now.

@WildMagelet I switched OB’s after my mc. The doctor literally said “it’s a bummer”. Gross. I’m sorry you can’t switch, I’m hoping you have a better experience this time!
  • How far along? 6+4

How are you feeling? More nauseous than I did at this point with DS, which is reassuring, but man it’s hard being sick while staying home with a toddler. I think my tiredness is more from that than from the pregnancy.

Upcoming appointments: my first appointment is next week Tuesday (7/7)

Morning sickness cures or snacks: unisom+vit B6 are working wonders, just like they did with my last pregnancy. Any food makes me feel nauseated, but an empty stomach also makes the nausea worse so you win some you lose some, I suppose.

@KLS123 congrats on the heartbeat! That’s the milestone for my previous mc, too. It’s great to hear that little gallop! <3
  • @mdfarmchick @birdiejo - I actually had to switch offices because the hospital tied to my previous OB's office stopped doing births, so the clinic stopped doing pre-natal care.  Apparently some of their staff just switched hospitals.  Unfortunately the OB I really liked (the one that actually diagnosed and handled my MMC from start to finish) decided to stay at the old place.  I called just to verify, I really loved her <3

@moguippy - I totally feel the fatigue. I feel like I could sleep or lay around 14 hours a day and still not be rested.

@birdiejo Wow. I'm glad you left that OB--that's egregious. Having worked in healthcare for a decade, I definitely understand that we build up a tolerance for human suffering, but just as you said, it's completely gross to talk to a patient that way. Hoping your new practice has been good for you.
