When everyone was younger, I’m assuming we all went on dates here and there before meeting our spouse or SO.

What’s the worst date you have ever been on? What happened? Weither it was a blind date, a friend that set you up, or just a random person that you met that asked you out for coffee/drink. Let’s hear these stories!

I actually have only seriously dated my husband, since we started dating in eleventh grade.

I unintentionally went on a date with a guy in 8th grade. We went to the skating rink and he said a bunch of people were meeting us there. Then no one else showed up. We hung out for a while and then he said "I will love you forever and
ever, for all eternity, until the end of time." I freaked out and used the skating rink phone to call my mom. She then had to drive him home. I was already switching schools in the fall, so I never really had to see him again.

I once went on a blind date in my early 20’s and it was a disaster. This guy I was to meet had no car and couldn’t even pick me up from my house so he made me take public Transit on the bus to meet him at some little movie theatre down town in the city where I was living. When I got there he was wearing some really weird bright neon shoes and clothing. Such an odd dresser. He looked horrible and was not attractive at all. We were in the lobby waiting for the movie to start and he asked me if I would like anything like popcorn or snacks etc. I said yes please. I assumed he was going to pay but when we ordered the treats at the concession stand he just dumped his random pocket change on the counter and was counting it out. He didn’t have enough money so I had to pay the rest for him. I was embarrassed. We finally found our seats for the movie and we were watching and he asked if I could go get him another drink and handed me like 20 cents for it cause that’s all he had. I was like omg seriously? I went and got him his drink and paid for it and then finished watching the movie. When it was over he asked me if I wanted to continue to hang out with him and go somewhere else. I made up a lie and said that I had to be up early for work the next day and that I couldn’t and I didn’t want to stay out late. I couldn’t wait to get away from him. He was weird and awkward and I didn’t like him at all. He watched me board on the bus to home and was all waving at me etc. He kept trying to call me after that for a while and I just ignored his phones calls hoping he would go away or get the hint that I wasn’t into him. I ended up running into him on a bus like a month later and he noticed me and just glared at me. I think he was mad I blew him off. I never saw him again after that. Thank god!

Super awkward semi-unintentional blind date. I'd just moved and was signing up for the local gym, and the guy working on my application invited me to a birthday dinner for a friend of his. He was clear that it was an attempt to set us up, but based on how he described it I thought it would be a group of people and figured why not? It's something to do, and I'm new to the city so couldn't hurt to meet some people.

It was him, his friend, and me. That was it. Less than 5 minutes in it was really clear that neither he nor I were interested in each other, but still had polite conversation. Gym Guy kept pushing, and then convinced me to come with them to watch a movie (after all, it was only a few blocks from home, he knew where I lived from my application). I don't know why, but I agreed (probably because I'm a terrible liar and couldn't think up an excuse), just extending the awkwardness further. They were both super nice, and even walked me home afterwards since it was late, but just very uncomfortable. Then I had to see Gym Guy every time I went to the gym, and he wasn't the type to let it go. He'd come up every time to chat (first of all, one of the last places I want to chit chat is at the gym when I'm drenched in sweat and the color of a beet; second of all, wasn't interested), until eventually I quit and found a different gym.

@akoros ugh that’s the worst when you have to keep seeing them after.

I have 2 pretty horrible awkward dates! And probably a lot more but these are the first to come to mind.

1) I met this guy at a bowling alley one night while drinking. Got his number and we set up a date. Apparently I was super drunk that night because he ended up being super short, had so many tattoos and piercings, and just wasn’t really my type. He took me to this local Chinese restaurant, where my parents friends were all having dinner! I had to say hi to them and didn’t even introduce my date. They kept staring at us the whole time and it was so awkward.

2) I met this guy at a shop I used to always go to. I always thought he was cute so I left him a note with my number on it. He asked me out and we went to dinner and a movie. He was one of those super quiet talkers so I couldn’t hear anything he said the whole dinner. And then during the movie he was one of those LOUD TALKERS! Like talked through the whole movie as if we weren’t in a theater. And he kept trying to kiss me and was snuggling into my neck and was loudly moaning into my neck. It was the worst most embarrassing experience. Ugh just thinking about it makes me uncomfortable

Omg @bearmomma1 that 2nd date and having to run into your parents friends! So embarrassing.

When I was living in NY I went on a date with a guy I met online. We’d chatted a bit online and he seemed great, but when I got to the restaurant we were meeting at he was just behaving horribly. I’m not sure what his deal was, but he was 180 degrees different - rude to me, to the server, and just awful all within the first few minutes - then he was bragging about what he does, name dropping who he knows, really just clearly showing he was not my type. I think we ordered a round of drinks and I stayed for maybe half of it. I just said to him something along the lines of, “listen this is not going to go anywhere, I am not interested and I don’t want to be here any longer,” and I just walked out. It was not a friendly way to leave, but the guy was simply that horrible - it was deserved.

@akoros Oh my god when guys try to talk to me at the gym, it makes me SO MAD. Like, I have headphones in, I’m focused I my workout, leave me alone! I’ve actually started just being blunt nowadays and telling them to leave me alone.

Mine was probably a blind date set up by a friend. We were going to a bar “for a drink” but when we got there, the guy said he wasn’t drinking and had already eaten after I ordered a beer and some food. It was so awkward, he just watched me eat and drink and then told me the reason he wasn’t drinking was because of some really sad stuff with his dad and alcohol. I was like (in my head) “why would you take me to a bar?!” I kept trying to keep things light and failing. After a while, I was just desperate to leave but when I went to use the bathroom he had ordered me another beer. I felt so bad bc he clearly wanted to talk to someone but it was so awkward. I don’t think I’ve ever drank a beer that fast and then I was like “I need to go now.” There was no second date haha.

I started dating my Husband at 15, none of these for me thankfully. I dated a few other guys before but no horror stories. The only one I have kind of is an after date horror story. It was basically a hook up date. I was in 9th grade, so high school, but 13. He was in 8th grade, the junior high. but the same age. We had a hook up date and his stupid ass made the mistake of telling people. Bro, if you want girls to make out with you, shut the fuck up! It sure never happened again.

I bought a washer and dryer for my apartment in grad school and the sales guy was super cute. We exchanged numbers and went out on a date a week later. He spent the whole car ride to the restaurant complaining about paying his child support. I knew he had a kid, so that wasn't the issue, it just didn't seem like an appropriate thing to complain about on a first date! So that just set the tone for the rest of the night for me! He kept asking me out on more dates and I had to keep coming up with excuses, before I just grew a pair and told him that we were in different places in our lives, and I wasn't interested.

My worst first date was this guy I met online. We went to see Batman Begins, which I actually wanted to see, and he kept trying to make out with me and feel me up. After the movie, I wanted to go home and was trying to go up the stairs to the el station and he kept following me. He later called my cell phone and sang Wonderwall by Oasis 😳

@akoros Isn’t it awesome how the older you get the more you realize you don’t have to put up with that kind of nonsense haha? I’m still a super nice person but if someone (a man) makes a comment that I don’t like, he will be hearing from me. I would have never been able to do that in my 20s. I love my 30s haha.

@laurenspdx I know, it's amazing. I never believed my mother when she'd tell me that I'd grow up and stop caring so much about what other people thought. That's why I put "polite" in quotes, because there are definitely polite/nice ways to shut something down
