Re: All Trimester Check-in June 8th

    • How far along/EDD? 26w6d/Sept. 8th
    • How are you feeling this week? Tired and still uncomfortable. My hands are swelling so bad they ache.
    • Rants/Raves? Questions? Raves - Passed the GD screening and doctor was pleased with my weight gain this past month. I have been trying to eat better but I think 2 months ago was really just a major growth spurt. Rant - My thyroid levels are off. So the doctor increased my meds for it. She said it's not as critical in the 2nd and 3rd tri as it is in the 1st trimester, but we still want to get it under control.
    • Any upcoming appointments? OB appointment at 30 weeks. I really should see her at 28 weeks and then every 2 weeks after that. But she said since I was doing so well she would push the appointment to 30 weeks. Not sure how I feel about that.
    • GTKY: Growing up what was your favorite family tradition and what traditions do you plan to (or currently) have with your children? Growing up my mom would always bake us a cake on our birthday and we'd sing happy birthday as a family...every birthday. I plan on doing the same with my little girl. I also have always said that as a family every Christmas we would go Christmas shopping for children in need and that my kids would pick the gifts. I can't wait to start both traditions.

    • How far along/EDD? 17w3d/Nov 13
    • How are you feeling this week? Really good! Energy is back, been able to go on some longer walks, sleeping is a little bit better but I did start using my pregnancy pillow so not sure if it’s bc of that
    • Rants/Raves? Questions? Raves - Started feeling some movement the past few nights which I’m so excited for! Rave and rant together - the pharmacy didn’t get the prescription in in time for my weekly shot on Friday so I had to go into the clinic for my shot. But my OB popped her head in while I was waiting and gave me a quick peek at the little one which was unexpected and awesome!
    • Any upcoming appointments? Anatomy scan on June 19! Bummed DH can’t come but we’re not finding out the sex this time around so I’ll FaceTime him so he can at least see the little nugget for a min
    • GTKY: Growing up what was your favorite family tradition and what traditions do you plan to (or currently) have with your children? Everything related to Christmas! Putting lights up, watching the movies, Decorating the tree, opening one present Christmas Eve, making cookies, etc. Also for all the “smaller” holidays, my mom would always get us socks and little presents and leave them at our breakfast spot to open in the morning (Halloween, st Patrick’s day, Valentine’s Day, etc) so we could wear them that day
@31magnolia my thyroid was high last time it was checked so had to increase my meds. Did your dr have any ideas what’s causing the swelling of your hands or how to help it?
    • How far along/EDD? - 38+1, 6/21
    • How are you feeling this week? I'm okay, but getting around is getting harder. Sometimes getting out of bed feels like an olympic sport lol. But I've been trying to walk as much as I can, I go on a daily walk around the neighborhood.
    • Rants/Raves? Questions? I got my breast pump through insurance yesterday! I am so excited. Also, This is my son's last week of school and I am even more excited to not have to be a teacher anymore while simultaneously working fulltime and being massively pregnant.
    • Any upcoming appointments?Thursday I have a final growth scan, NST and 38 wk OB check up. And we will also be discussing possible induction dates.
    • GTKY: Growing up what was your favorite family tradition and what traditions do you plan to (or currently) have with your children?

@31magnolia I didn't love the idea of pushing out appts either, I understand the reasons but I always felt better having my appts for reassurance. Yay for passing your GD screening though!

@mtpbadger Those first movements are the best!

    • How far along/EDD? – 32w+5d / Jul 29th
    • How are you feeling this week? Feeling okay, just more heavy and uncomfortable.  Sleeping is not great, between the bathroom trips and hip/back pain, I am waking up several times during the night.  I am not as exhausted as the 1st tri, but definitely taking a 15-20 min nap after lunch most days and going to bed earlier than usual.   Also started leaking colostrum during the day from both breasts, not every day though.  I had a couple of episodes ~27 weeks on the left only and at night but now is during the day and when I mentioned it to my OB he said is normal and common, so not concerned.
    • Rants/Raves? Questions? Getting used to the GD diet…during the weekend I took the time to sit and write down a few meals I could have and then sent DH to the grocery store, so I think I should be good.  Had an appointment with the MFM and he wants to see me next week and then on a weekly basis.  Baby is larger, but not so much, 66% percentile…still he wants to make sure he is on top of any unusual growth due to GD.  This US also showed 2 of the 4 fibroids are getting quite large and closer to the incision site.   Before this appointment he was resolved to have the c-section closer to 40 weeks but now he is considering moving it to 38-39 weeks, which my OB preferred too.  My OB has said he wanted to avoid an emergency c-section but it was a decision they would make as a team.  So in the next couple of weeks I might have a definite date and I really hope I make it and have a calm/peaceful (if that is possible) c-section.
    • Any upcoming appointments? Next week MFM and then I will start going weekly.  OB on 06/26, so will be having 2 appointments that week.
    • GTKY: Growing up what was your favorite family tradition and what traditions do you plan to (or currently) have with your children?  Most traditions in my family are holidays/religious and food related, so I am planning on doing the same with my boy.

    • How far along/EDD? 31+2/Aug 4
    • How are you feeling this week? Meh. Tired.
    • Rants/Raves? Questions? Just so busy with work. This is not how I imagined how it’s going to be going into my maternity leave.
    • Any upcoming appointments? I have an OB appointment and supposed to have a growth scan about a few days before that but have not received a call about scheduling that.
    • GTKY: Growing up what was your favorite family tradition and what traditions do you plan to (or currently) have with your children? New Years for sure. In my culture for New Years all the family members get together and celebrate the New Years with a special New Years food. We started that tradition again when I became pregnant with my son. I also want to celebrate other cultural events too since my son is now old enough to enjoy them.

  • @31magnolia Yeah I haven’t had many prenatal appointments this time around. Not sure if it’s because of the new OB or because of the coronavirus. I thought I was supposed to see MFM but I’ve only spoke to her on the phone once. I had an appointment at 28 weeks and will have my next appointment at 32 weeks. I think NST will begin at 34 weeks due to the pandemic instead of 32 weeks.

    • How far along/EDD? 30+2, Aug 16
    • How are you feeling this week? Ok. Baby is literally everywhere and he's not happy about his reduced living space.
    • Rants/Raves? Questions? Rant: I'm 98% certain I have another UTI. Im hoping I can just call the dr and they will just call in my abx. I don't have childcare today to run up there for a urine analysis.
    • Any upcoming appointments? June 18.
    • GTKY: Growing up what was your favorite family tradition and what traditions do you plan to (or currently) have with your children? We always spent Christmas day at home. There were no exceptions. It seemed crazy at first, but I loved it. We always had a big breakfast, then my mom made us open presents one at a time. It really made the day last a while and we had some great times laughing at each other. I have already implemented the stay at home rule and when the kiddos are older, we will do the one at a time present. I really can't wait.
  • @31magnolia Congrats on passing your GD!

@mtpbadger Yay for movement! The early movements are so fun.

@hanshotfirst77 I feel you on the getting out bed, tho I can imagine it's way worse for you.

@angelina1919 I feel you on the uncomfortable sleep. I feel like all I do is toss and turn. Hopefully, it doesn't get any worse.

@cashewchicken I hope you hear something soon about your appointment. I hate waiting on those things.
  • @wildrainbow - I hope you don't have to drive in either. I think I'll also start some additional Christmas traditions. I already have Christmas dinner at my house, so that won't change. But I think I'll also start the identical pajama tradition, which I used to think was corny but I now like the idea. Lol.  I just turned 27 weeks today and I already feel little girl everywhere, so your comment made me laugh.

@cashewchicken - Yeah, I'm assuming the appointment changes are due to the pandemic, but I'm hoping after 30 weeks, the doc will see me every 2 weeks until week 36 like originally planned. Fingers crossed.

@angelina1919 - I'm also not getting sound sleep at night. I definitely feel your pain. Between baby girl kicking, hip pain, and bathroom breaks I've had to start taking 1-2 hour naps during the day.

@hanshotfirst77 - Good job on the walking! I need to do better. It's just so freaking hot here now (heat index is in the 100's). But I need to figure out something.

@mtpbadger - Yay for getting some energy back! Enjoy it. Lol. My SO couldn't come to my anatomy scan either. I was so bummed because just two weeks before they said he could. And apparently they've just changed the policy again. No partners at the OB appointment but they can come to the ultrasound. I basically have to check before every appointment to see what the new policy is. I did FaceTime the anatomy scan with him though, so he at least got to see it. Dr. said that the swelling was due to not drinking enough water. I used an ice pack on my hands the other day and it did take the swelling down some (I was able to easily take my ring off and I notice the pain also went away. But it was short lived. As soon as the swelling came back, so did the pain.

  • @wildrainbow we have the same present tradition on Christmas, it takes forever but I love it. We also wrap all of the stocking presents and open those one at a time, have a huge breakfast and just hang out all day in pjs playing with new toys until dinner. We never had extended family around (they all lived far away) so it was always just our little family and I loved how relaxed it was. I think I’ll continue that, I don’t think I’d enjoy having to rush to get to different places
  • @mtpbadger That is awesome! I never heard of anyone else doing this. We always got strange looks whenever we said what our tradition was. I love the fact that I dont have to get dressed or anything for that day. My sister carts her 4 kids to her In-laws on Christmas day and she always talks about what craziness it is, etc. So glad we never have to do that.

@wildrainbow I ended up getting the phone number to the ultrasound center and making an appointment myself. I was able to squeeze in my appointment for two days before the OB appointment so that’s perfect.

Got the doctor’s note and I’m officially starting my leave on 7/11! My husband and I also decided to postpone our son’s daycare re-enrollment until September. The daycare opens on 6/15, but with the baby coming and my parents coming to help out (they are almost 70 and my mom takes immune suppressant for her chronic illness) so I think this was a good decision. The daycare also holds my son’s spot till September without charging a tuition so that helps too.

  • @cashewchicken that’s awesome daycare will hold a spot until sept! Ours still hasn’t given a reopen date
  • @mtpbadger Yeah. It’s great and while being safe and healthy is the most important thing, it’s hard to continue paying $2K+ tuition every month  just to hold his spot in daycare. Not having to pay definitely makes the decision to keep him home that much easier.

  • @wildrainbow @31magnolia is there any other way to open presents!???  I guess as a kid I always took Christmas at home for granted.  Now everyone is so sprawled out, it does make it harder :/
