Rant/Rave: We had a great weekend and I felt my first definite baby movements yesterday! Our friends have a boat and invited us to the lake yesterday. We had a blast (even though I had to hide from the sun and couldn't water ski/tube, lol). I was laying on my stomach on the back of the boat for a few minutes after getting out of the water and felt a few definite kicks/movements. It was such a cool feeling and I was so happy! I think I have felt him before but nothing like that.
GTKY: What did you want to be when you were a kid? Did you follow your dreams or choose to do something different? I had all different dreams throughout childhood, from lawyer to doctor to FBI profiler (lol). I also wanted to join the CIA and move up in the ranks so I could figure out the truth of area 51 I work in account management now but I actually went back to school a couple years ago and am pursuing my biology degree and will hopefully go to medical school in the future, so I am working on it!
Upcoming Appointments: 6/25 regular OB 6/26 to finish up 20-week scan at Perinatologist
Rant/Rave: Well, DH and I ventured to the suburbs to check out a town and view to houses for sale. Currently, we live in an apartment in Brooklyn and have pretty much been set on staying in NYC, provided we can still afford it (Brooklyn is expensive, guys). We absolutely loved the town and actually were pleasantly surprised by the houses we saw. The first one was kind of perfect - it's definitely small (meaning, not a forever home - more like, we could stay there 5-10 years before upsizing). The second one was great, too, but best and finals were due yesterday so we really just viewed it in order to have a frame of reference. We came home feeling pretty great, but now are stuck because we don't know if this is the right house for us or the right time to be making such a huge decision - especially since the future is so uncertain (I was laid off, so we don't have my income). We finished the night in really horrible moods (DH, especially) and I don't know what we should do!
GTKY: What did you want to be when you were a kid? Did you follow your dreams or choose to do something different? In nursery school they used to survey the class and make a book for our parents. In one survey I wanted to be a flower and on the other I wanted to be water - I didn't grow up to be either! I actually always thought I would become an attorney, but went into sales instead.
Week of pregnancy: 20+1 (wow typing that out is crazy LOL)
Baby is the size of: banana or paper airplane!
Upcoming Appointments: June 29th for fetal echo and July 6th for routine OB
Rant/Rave: So my husband is having his hip replaced on Wednesday. He has spent the last (10) years with a degrading hip from playing baseball and genetically being born with a small hip socket. I am thrilled for him to have this done, but also nervous for his recovery. And because we are crazy, we added house buying/selling to the list and found a home we absolutely love. The seller's agent is ours as well and they offered the home to us without listing it! They said they wanted a nice, young family to enjoy this house as much as they did and thanks hormones, I cried. It is literally meant to be. But here is the kicker, I am ya know 20 weeks pregnant with a 2.5 year old, husband will be laid up with the hip and we have to have our house on the market by July 8th. Settlement is set for 9/15 if all goes well, fingers crossed! Nothing like moving 1.5 months prior to your due date. I guess it is go big or go home for real LOL.
GTKY: What did you want to be when you were a kid? Did you follow your dreams or choose to do something different? I wanted to be a neonatologist. I went to college as a Biology major and had an awful teacher/advisor and I let her get to me and ended up doubting myself. So I switched to Chemistry and didn't like that, so I graduated with a degree in English. I went back for my MBA and I now work for the U.S. Army as a Civilian at a federal installation in Maryland working in Facilities Management. I absolutely loved my job, but do wish I had done something in healthcare to know I was helping people. But the nice thing is now I am doing things to help/protect the folks that protect the Warfighter, so I can't be too mad. I just always wanted to know I was making a difference. I will eventually pick volunteering at the hospital back up once the girls are a little older just to be able to bring a smile to someone's face everyday if I can.
Rant/Rave: I'm always hungry but don't want to meal plan or cook.
GTKY: What did you want to be when you were a kid? Did you follow your dreams or choose to do something different? Professional soccer player, doctor, teacher. I'm a physical therapist (so a little of each I guess ha) in a nursing home but want to get back into pediatrics.
@Ecat504 I was definitely a unique child. If you really want to LOL - I recently found a "letter to myself" that I wrote in 6th grade saying that I wanted to either be a litigator or an "authadontist" (orthodontist). Gives you a sense of how thick my NY accent is. 🤣
Rant/Rave: Sometimes I really look forward to everyone being able to get into and out of the car in under an hour. Ok getting out is 10 minutes. Getting in...I swear you’d think it was the first time we went anywhere 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬.
GTKY: What did you want to be when you were a kid? Did you follow your dreams
or choose to do something different? Vet. Nope. Just a PM now. Generally like my work but annoyed with the “bring me a rock” routine. I mean if you wanted sparkles I’d add them!
Upcoming Appointments: I had an appt with the MW on Friday which was quick and easy, and my A/S is TOMORROW! So pumped!
Rave: Just so excited for the A/S tomorrow! Rant: Because of complicated personal drama, my sister and her kids have been staying with my Mom and Dad (next door) for the past few weeks. It's been cool to spend time with them, and DS loves seeing his cousins (age 7 and 10), BUT, the 7 year old is really energetic and destructive and likes a lot of violent play, and he's totally teaching DS bad habits! They leave today and I am so relieved because I was going to have to start limiting the time they spent together or something.
GTKY: What did you want to be when you were a kid? Did you follow your dreams or choose to do something different? I wanted to be a writer or a journalist, and I DEFINITELY ABSOLUTELY NEVER EVER wanted to be a teacher. Can you guess what I am? I come from a family with a lot of teachers, and always saw growing up how hard and thankless it is. I still would never teach a required subject, but I do teach a CTE elective, so there you go.

@bserena Feeling movement is the best! I am just loving all the baby wiggles! What kind of medicine would you want to practice? @laurenmicheley Yay for looking at houses, but I totally understand your frustration with that big decision. Change is so hard, especially when you have time pressure added to it. Good luck! @jaclyn0405 Congrats on the house! It sounds so stressful, but I do think I would rather move while pregnant than with a newborn. We are planning on moving, but not til next summer, and I feel like trying to move with a toddler and infant sounds just impossible.

@hedgepig my dream is to go into surgery (most likely general) but I am open to other specialties as well. That is one thing I like about med school is that it allows you to spend periods of time in all different areas the last two years of school to get a feel for what you really want to do.
@hedgepig I so agree! A part of me thinks we are absolutely nuts and the other part is like well while she is still on the inside I can make this work. I do want to start buying things for her room though because that was my favorite part with DD1, decorating her nursery before she arrived, and I don't want DD2 to think she got the short end of the stick from the beginning LOL. But bringing more stuff in while trying to throw stuff out makes zero sense. Maybe I will just ship it to my mom's or start a tote and just add to that.
Upcoming appointments: OB 6/29, ultrasound to finish up measurements from A/S on 7/7
Rant/Rave: finally felt the baby move which was pretty exciting!!
GTKY: What did you want to be when you were a kid? Did you follow your dreams or choose to do something different?
Growing up I wanted to be a lawyer then a scientist researching cancer. I’ve worked as a pediatric home care nurse the last 7 years and am now finishing up my Bachelor’s and starting my Masters in public health to study infectious diseases. Not totally similar but still wanna study diseases affecting population health
Rant/Rave: Rave- Checked out the nearest Buybuy Baby store, which is about an hour away. It was nice to see everything in one place. Went with my mom, which was nice because I haven't seen her much lately. Rant- I think I've been starting to feel some movement, but it's been subtle. Found out at appt yesterday that I have an anterior placenta. I know it's fine and everything, so I'm not worried. My MIL has been asking me regularly since week 6 if I could feel movement yet. She asked me again today (thru Messenger). Told her about the anterior placenta and she's asking me what I mean by that. I have no patience anymore so I'll just wait and see if she looks it up herself...
GTKY: What did you want to be when you were a kid? Did you follow your dreams or choose to do something different? I wanted to be an author. Of course I could still do that someday, but I have not gone down the route just yet. Maybe one day.
@warmwinter Ugh, MILs. Yay for feeling some movement - that's right around when I started feeling movement last pregnancy with an AP.
I just wanted to stop in and say that we had our A/S on Wed and it went great! MH was able to come in, which was wonderful. Baby girl looked great, measuring four days ahead, and was wiggling around. The tech was great and explained everything she looked at, which was so fascinating, especially since last time the tech didn't explain hardly anything. My next appt with the MW isn't for a few weeks, but they would call if anything was wrong, so I'm feeling pretty good. We went and got doughnuts as a treat 🥰🍩 As we were driving home MH said that on the way there it felt like just the two of us in the car, but after the scan it felt like there were three of us, and I just melted 💗

@hedgepig I’m so excited for you! We had our A/S yesterday. Generally, I’m not a huge fan of the 20 week scan. We had one tech put on there “no boy parts”. I nearly punched the tech. This time around, our fourth and last go figure, was our best A/S. The tech talked through everything and was super amazing. I was just so relieved to see and hear her heartbeat. She’s been kicking up a storm. So just glad everything else is good. DH was able to come with and that was so so special. Our sitter told us to take our time coming back. So we went grocery shopping. Felt like a d@mn date. We were just so excited to hang out albeit while finding apples and oranges. It was so nice. (Still terrified of COVID). Saw the kids when we came home. My heart is so full.
