XP: Should we Cancel?

We had invited our preschoool class over for play date, scheduled for tomorrow morning. Yesterday, Finn started to get a runny nose. I thought that it was just from teething, but this evening he has started to cough. His mood, sleep and everything else seems fine. So, should I cancel the playdate? DH thinks I should let everyone know that he has a runny nose and little cough and let them decide. Or wait until morning to see how he is. I would rather give people time to change their plans if I am going to cancel.

  • I would either cancel or let everyone know right away so they can decide.  Chances are they won't want to have a playdate.  This time of year, sharing those germs is bound to get all the other little ones sick.

  • You need to either cancel or at least let every mother clearly know the risks!  I would be royally PO'd if someone invited me to be around a sick child.

BTW, hope Finn feels much better real soon Smile

  • hee hee hee....

as a first time mom I would have answered "cancel"

as a second time mom here's my logic:

    It's his PRESCHOOL playmates, right?

Would you send him to preschool like this?  If so - they would be exposed to him, right?

I'd give the moms a heads up and let them decide.

Unless of course he's worse in the morning.

I expect most kids my DS's are around to have runny noses and coughs this time of year.  Just part of the gig.  I'd still be coming if you were still hosting!

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
  • Thanks the replies. I called and e-mailed everyone and let them know we are willing to host but that DS has runny nose and small cough. Everyone was understanding and still plan on coming over. I went into his playroom and sprayed everything with Clorox anywhere spray. (just in case!)

Thanks for the well wished. Luckily he seems to feel perfectly fine, so I'm glad about that!
