Week of pregnancy: 17
Baby is the size of: pomegranate
Upcoming Appointments: next Monday anatomy scan!!!
Rant/Rave: I am so excited, I just found out that DH will be allowed at my anatomy scan next week. This is huge as he has not been allowed at any appointments for this pregnancy due to COVID.
GTKY: What did you want to be when you were a kid? Did you follow your dreams or choose to do something different? I always knew I wanted to do something with children, so following the path to become a teacher kind of make sense.
Week of pregnancy: Almost 17 weeks 😅
Baby is the size of: Avocado 🥑
Upcoming Appointments: AS & visit with our midwife on July 8. Cannot. Wait.
Rave: The weather has been beautiful here the last couple weeks and my husband and I have been playing lots of golf! ⛳️ ☀️ We are soaking up our last summer of it just being the two of us!
GTKY: What did you want to be when you were a kid? Did you follow your dreams or choose to do something different? I wanted to be a teacher when I was a kid, but I chose to do something different. My passion is helping others live a healthy and happy life, so I majored in Health & Wellness and work as a Wellness Coordinator.
Week of pregnancy: 17
Baby is the size of: pomegranate
Upcoming Appointments: not until my anatomy scan at 20 weeks. I can’t believe we’re so close to half way done.
Rant/Rave: I finally cut off my son from his bedtime nurse session, so we’re officially weaned! The rant part is that I no longer have a dependable way to get him to sleep and his schedule has been all over the place.
GTKY: What did you want to be when you were a kid? Did you follow your dreams or choose to do something different? I participated in bands and orchestras up until college and wanted to be a musician. I planned on majoring in music education, changed my major after the first semester, but ended up teaching in a non-musical classroom.
Week of pregnancy: 17
Baby is the size of: a pop-tart!
Upcoming Appointments: not until July 8th. 😫 But that day I have my AS and then an appointment so double the baby fun!
Rave: We got so many things done this weekend! DH cleaned the gutters and mowed the grass. We got a new vacuum and a new rug for our living room and we did a closet purge and will be donating 4 bags of clothes and 1 bag of shoes to a local thrift shop! Bonus: we tried a new grill recipe and it was AMAZING!
GTKY: What did you want to be when you were a kid? Did you follow your dreams or choose to do something different? Since about 4th or 5th grade I wanted to be a veterinarian. I did major in animal science in college and applied to vet school but I didn't get in which I was perfectly okay with because by that time I knew I wouldn't make a good vet. I work at a feed mill now doing ration formulation so I still kinda work with animals.
Week of pregnancy: 17
Baby is the size of: Pomegranate
Upcoming Appointments: Appointment on July 9 and AS on July 10. I can't wait to see this baby!
Rant/Rave: My mom started watching my son everyday again this week and she made us dinner last night and she is doing it again tonight and I am so thankful because after work the last thing I want to do is cook.
GTKY: What did you want to be when you were a kid? Did you follow your dreams or choose to do something different? I wanted to be and artist or an art teacher. I did get a degree in Graphic Design and do design invitations and other stuff on the side occasionally but, I work in a law firm. So I guess the I sorta do in a round about way
Week of pregnancy: 16
Baby is the size of: avocado
Upcoming Appointments: tomorrow, and then 7/15 for my AS
Rant/Rave: I went swimming for the first time this summer and the pool was a tad cold. Well normally my nipples aren’t thaaaat sensitive, but holy moly. I was in literal pain because of the cold water, which has never happened before! So that was uh, a weird pregnancy side effect for me i guess haha.
GTKY: What did you want to be when you were a kid? Did you follow your dreams or choose to do something different? I wanted to be a teacher and I’m currently in my last year as a special education major! I’m gonna teach for a few years but ultimately I’m going for my masters to be a behavior analyst for special education students.
Week of pregnancy: 16
Baby is the size of: avocado
Upcoming Appointments: AS 7/8
Rant/Rave: My 4 year old is so excited for baby and asks the size and what is forming. When I said baby could hear now, he has been reading books, singing songs, and talking to it. He keeps telling me it is a sister because God told him. He is such a great big brother and it just melts my heart! I hope they get along this great their whole life.
GTKY: What did you want to be when you were a kid? Did you follow your dreams or choose to do something different? I usually said teacher because my mom was and said pharmacist when I graduated HS. I am now a prenatal and pediatric chiropractor and love my job!
Week of pregnancy: 17
Baby is the size of: pomegranate!
Upcoming Appointments: AS July 6th
Rant/Rave: I feel like a great big house! It’s so depressing. I’m a FTM and I feel like comparison is stealing my joy for this pregnancy. I’m constantly looking at other pregnant women and seeing how cute and “all baby” they are, and then I look at myself in the mirror or just when I’m in the bath and I feel like a tub of jelly with HAIR lol. Everyone says it really is a baby belly but it’s so jiggly!! I don’t know. I know I’m being sensitive and hard on myself, but I really feel more FAT than pregnant. I have always had body image issues — this is not helping. I’ll throw a pic in the spoiler for those who are curious. I really really am not fishing for anything and I’m not trying to make anyone feel any type of way at all. I just needed to get it off my chest — ITS CREEPING INTO MY DREAMS NOW (2 dreams that I’ve been called fat by waiters/waitresses at restaurants😓). I know everyone says to be proud and know I’m growing a human which I agree. Its just hard to FEEL that.
GTKY: What did you want to be when you were a kid? Did you follow your dreams or choose to do something different?
I always wanted to be a chef — I still do! I have a goal to own my own food cart/truck. I work in IT right now, but I’m known for my food at the office and with friends and family. I’m always trying new things in the kitchen. The other day we had a grilled cheese night and I had everyone RAVING at how good they were — ready to invest in getting my cart going haha. 🤔 this is probably why I feel like a lard haha 🤷🏼♀️ Self inflicted.
body is changing so quickly. Mindset shift for SURE!
Week of pregnancy: 16
Baby is the size of: avocado
Upcoming Appointments: had a telehealth visit this week that was mostly me asking my list of questions, since I've been feeling great. My OB was pessimistic about being able to bring my husband to the ultrasound at 20 weeks due to continued COVID concerns, but that appt type (and the initial OB visit) will be the first ones they open back up to visitors if they do.
Rant/Rave: A rave to you folks - I just posted in the Introductions but I've been lurking since the beginning of my pregnancy and finally getting in on the community. Of the other forums I checked out, this has been the most measured, informative, and supportive I've seen. And I've learned so much already!
GTKY: What did you want to be when you were a kid? Did you follow your dreams or choose to do something different? There were a number of things I cycled through, one of them being a neonatal nurse, which is very much not me today (though would be coming in handy now). I've worked at software companies my entire career, not exactly using my degree but working with technology that didn't exist when I was a kid, and my current job title didn't exist 10 years ago! It's been a fun journey so far.
Week of pregnancy: 17 weeks
Baby is the size of: A pomegranate. I'm excited about this because pomegranate leaves are a motif my husband and I chose when we designed our wedding rings.
Upcoming Appointments: A/S on Monday 6/22!
Rant/Rave: I am still throwing up 1-2 times a day, despite week 17! Despite my Diclegis prescription! Alas!
But I also just got a bottle of Palmer's cocoa butter lotion for stretch marks, and it's helping with itchy skin. And DH's aunt sent us a crate of fancy sodas from Philadelphia, so I'm feeling loved and spoiled.
GTKY: What did you want to be when you were a kid? Did you follow your dreams or choose to do something different? I wanted to be a teacher and a poet. Now I'm a theatre professor and director, so quite similar! Though a more outgoing artistic field, which would have surprised my shy 7-year-old self.
I introduced myself and participated a bit ages ago, and have been lurking since, and I'm looking forward to GTK everyone better.
I just got off the phone and was told that DH will NOT be able to come to the anatomy scan on Monday like I had previously been told. I am so so disappointed. I would have been fine if that had been the expectation all along, but they definitely got my hopes up. I've been dealing ok with this whole pregnant during a pandemic thing, but today really sucks.
Week of pregnancy: 17+2
Baby is the size of: pomegranate
Upcoming Appointments: AS is on 7/8 and just had our 17wk appt yesterday
Rant/Rave: so glad I got to see the twins yesterday 😍 they're doing fantastic. Found out MH can come to the AS and I'm so excited! He has been so bummed not getting to come to any appts.
GTKY: What did you want to be when you were a kid? Did you follow your dreams or choose to do something different? I wanted to be a paralegal as a kid, went to school for med tech after working in insurance for a few years and now a lab tech for a animal feed company 🤷🏻 it's a mixed bag but in school I discovered a love for science (esp chem) but didn't love the medical field. I LOVE my job now.

Week of pregnancy: 17 weeks tomorrow!
Baby is the size of: taco
Upcoming Appointments: I have a mid wife in 2 weeks and an anatomy scan in 3. DH can come to all my appointment but after loosing his dad he hasn’t because he has just been so overwhelmed which totally sucks ! Hopefully he will come to the anatomy scan , and start getting out of his blur so he can be a bit more supportive with this pregnancy (he is a saint with the kids and everyday life , we just have A lot of emotional baggage we are tracking through the mud right now )
Rant/Rave: mostly just laid it out lol ... ugh death sucks! @katepercy I feel ya ! I puked twice this morning and the second was full blown violent puking up everything that was inside me , this is how my other 2 pregnancies were also so not expecting anything different but man it sucks and is so exhausting !
GTKY: What did you want to be when you were a kid? Did you follow your dreams or choose to do something different?
well I was dead set on being a tiger trainer and that didn’t pan out lol thank god (just watched tiger king 😂) ... so I went head first into construction/real estate . I have my mortgage license but don’t actively practice and I am a licensed real estate agent . My husband and I also fix and flip houses although with baby #4 on the way I think that ship has sailed once we get this last one we are finishing sold .
