Due to obesity, age, DS being over 9 pounds etc., I had my GTT screening test at my 12 week appointment. My glucose levels were so high (ideal is 130 and I was at 202) that they concluded that I had Gestational diabetes and that I need to monitor my blood sugar levels at home and watch my diet and exercise. They will be calling me this week to tell me Does and Don'ts and talk me through diet plans.. Anyone else going through something similar? Any tips will be appreciated.
Lurking- I just happened to see this. I had this with all three of my pregnancies. Don’t freak out. My numbers went back to normal every time after baby was born.
Make sure you are eating enough carbs not just cutting them out. My amounts of carbs were- breakfast- 30 grams, snack 15, lunch 30-45, snack 15, dinner 45-60, snack 15. Make sure to eat protein with your carbs it will help your body process them better and keep your numbers lower. Exercising after each meal can help too.
I was just diagnosed a week ago. I’m not used to eating six times a day, so that is a new challenge. I have no great tips other than take the time to meal plan. The two times last week that I didn’t have planned out, my blood sugars were much higher than they should be. If you come up with any delicious recipes, please share!
