FFFC 6/12

Confess your (quasi-) sins!

Mine:  I'm spending about an hour in my pool each day and I'm getting quite tan.  Skin cancer, schmin cancer.
Current pregnancy -
First BFP on 1/4/22.  Due date 9/13/22.

Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.

  • I have had deli meat 3x this week.
  • @carrotsandpeas3 We found a new-to-us sub place this week and I told my husband I could happily eat there every day for the rest of my pregnancy. It was delicious and I don’t feel bad.

@baseballismyfavoriteseason there are free (and pretty delicious) deli sandwiches in the physician lounge at my hospital. I'm cheap AF, so free and easy lunch has been wonderful. I only feel guilty because I always heated it up in the microwave when I ate it during my last pregnancy but am way too lazy this time!

    Edited for typo.
  • Nothing wrong with this other than being lazy but it felt so awesome! I took a long bath yesterday while eating ice cream in the tub. Best Thing Ever!
  • @carrotsandpeas3 I’ve had more salami sandwiches this pregnancy than I’d like to admit to.  Also those pieces of mozzarella cheese wrapped in prosciutto!  Absolute heaven and a great on the go snack 🤤
  • @anitamargarita_82 I want some of them so bad but the boy person would kill me lol

  • @kboydbowman I'm staying with a friend who had top surgery for 4-5 days to help him recover, we just had ice cream at 1045 am as a morning snack... this is my favorite mini-vacation EVAR! I've also been on a sammich kick! Weird.
  • Apparently I'm full of confessions today because I have two more.

    1. I have bought absolutely nothing for this baby yet.

    2. I got off work early and ran to Kohl's because I have a bday giftcard from MIL. Bought MH a Father's day gift and DD some more summer clothes. I already cut off tags and threw them in the wash, so MH won't even know I went. No one said I had to spend bday money on myself but no one needs to know I didn't either!
  • @carrotsandpeas3 I've gotten some gifts, but I haven't bought anything either.  For me it's still the fear of miscarriage - I think until I cross "viability" threshhold it's still somewhat abstract that I may actually have a baby, you know?

  • @kboydbowman I too have been spending too much time outside, although for me it’s in the garden. I have some pretty interesting tan lines on my feet from my flip flops and pants.

@carrotsandpeas3 I just bought my first item, and it’s for my boyfriend for Father’s Day. I bought him the cutest pair of tiny Vans slip ons with rainbow hearts on them. He loves Vans, and wanted to get her a pair.  It gave me an excuse to buy something that I couldn’t justify spending that much on.
  • @animalandplantrescuer I'm so relieved I'm not the only one who bought vans for their SO for father's day, I've been feeling like a failure all day because it seemed like such a lame gift when everyone else is getting sappy coffee cups and such. Buying for a non sentimental partner after a devastating loss and father's day being such a painful reminder is tough 😩

My confession is I (attempted) to eat a key lime funnel cake from a food truck, I got a few
pieces in and am currently so horribly sick.
     Never again 😑
  • I totally just had poke for dinner.

  • @kalesix3 I think it’s a perfect gift! Especially if they themselves wear Vans. And how could I pass these up?

  • @kalesix3 We didn't do Vans, but we don't really do sentimental gifts either. The closest I got was a "Dadelorian" sweatshirt that made me laugh off a FB ad - mimicking the Mandelorian Star Wars show. He also got (well, gets) tools, a shaving kit, and a wallet he picked out. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Vans and useful things are DEFINITELY NOT lame.
  • My one-day late FFFC: I didn't get DH a Father's Day gift. We're first-time parents and he didn't get me a Mother's Day gift last month, so I'm just apathetic about Father's Day this year. It could be a combination of PGAL brain, and also that we're enjoying our last year with us just being the two of us. I'm sure we'll more than make up for it next year.

  • @animalandplantrescuer I've never seen those at our Vans store but now I want to get them too! So precious I can't handle it! My SO -only- wears Vans, and has since highschool, they're his all time favorite shoes, he has them customized and everything lol
@wineren thank you for the vote of confidence, I'm such a bad gift buyer, I always feel like what I get is inadequate and get anxious about it. I love the idea for the Dadelorian shirt, my SO is over the top particular about his clothes, otherwise I'd try to get him one! I was sad there wasn't a single mandalorian/baby yoda fathers day card on the whole hallmark website 😩
I'm going to make him a key lime pie or a boston creme pie but I'm not sure which yet.. it isn't a lot, but father's day last year was pretty devastating for us both, so hopefully this one is a little more cheerful.
@babyodo PGAL brain nearly talked me out of doing anything as well so I get it! We haven't done birthdays last year or this year though, so I really wanted to do something to surprise him, but you have a good point about just soaking up the here and now before baby!

  • @babyodo same thing here 🤷🏼‍♀️ I was going to just get him a card “from the bump” but since I got nothing on Mother’s Day I decided not to lol.
  • I got my husband an osprey child carrier backpack for hiking with our son. Definitely not sentimental, but very useful. I don’t think I would have gotten him a Father’s Day gift if it had happened when I was pregnant with DS because I usually suck at gift giving! I found this pack on Craigslist and it was such a good deal I had to buy it!
  • I got mine a t-shirt and I'll cook him fancy dinner... he got for me all the breakfast food I wanted from 3 different places for mothers day.
  • I got my H a little heroes personalized book, a pair of (cheap) sneakers, and I'll make him King Ranch Chicken for dinner. His request, he's from Texas 🤷🏻‍♀️
  • I got my husband a handmade beer glass with an octopus on it.  He’s a huge scuba diver!  And an obnoxious red Hawaiian shirt with darth Vader and storm troopers on it.
  • Wow I am impressed by all of you. My husband is SO hard to buy gifts for and I have NO idea what we’re getting him for Father’s Day. 🙈
  • Haha yeah my husband is getting some athletic shorts that he's been asking for, and I'm going to make an Oreo cheesecake (but we will be at my parents, so the cheesecake will be for my dad as well). We aren't major gift givers, especially not sentimental ones.
  • I keep telling my husband that I’m growing him another baby for Father’s Day. 😂

I’ll probably end up getting him something last minute, but in honesty I just don’t have the energy for a big production this year.
  • Yeah I got my husband a hoodie that he will hopefully like and a cookbook that he actually mentioned wanting. Kinda looks like the hoodie won't be here in time though, and he is anti-list, like he hates knowing what his present will be even if it's something he wants. So that should be fun. Lol.

  • It’s past Friday but I confess we had Chicago dogs for dinner 🤤 I did make sure the hot dogs were hot enough before eating them but I’ve been craving a Chicago dog for weeeeeks
  • @mamahosch Chicago dogs are amazing!  I went to a very popular butcher shop down towards Seattle yesterday and got a bunch of stuff but also a pound of corned beef deli meat which I fully plan to make lunch sandwiches with this week!  It’s super garlicky and amazing!  I’m excited.
