High-Risk Pregnancy

Impaired placental blood flow

Just had my 20 week scan. I'm 20+5 today.

The baby seems fine, but I showed an impaired placental blood flow. I have low PAPP-A. And high risk for a small baby.

I was really hoping they were going to say everything looked great.

I have to go in for growth scans at 26/30/34/38 weeks and will likely have an induction.

Has anyone showed impaired placental blood flow and had a successful pregnancy and healthy baby?

She said the word stillbirth and it's terrified me.

Re: Impaired placental blood flow

  • Hey girl,

They said I had the same issues at my 16 week scan, and my pregnancy has been mostly great since then. I did develop mild preeclampsia last week and am on medication now to manage it, and am being induced next Thursday at 37+2, but baby is still doing great and growing well, so please try not to worry too much if you can. I was petrified my whole pregnancy thinking I was on the brink of something horrible, but all went pretty well and while we’re meeting him a few weeks early, he made it this far and all will be well. Just go to your doctor visits, keep an eye on your BP at home if you can, and give yourself lots of relaxation.
