Week 17 (+1 day).

Baby girl is the size of: a slice of cake, a baby hedgehog, a pomegranate, a turnip or large onion, Clark Kent's glasses, and/or a pop tart.
Upcoming Appointments:
July 3rd is my next appointment.
Rant/Rave:
I'm a little annoyed with my doctor regarding the morning sickness and my weight loss/gain. I've been very vocal about how horrible my morning sickness was, she prescribed me several different medications to try and assist and ultimately diagnosed me with HG. I've lost quite a lot of weight in the first 16 weeks and have finally gained 2 pounds back (which, I'm happy with as a start). But she fussed me at my last appointment (ok, not really fussed just voiced concern, but I'm sensitive OK!?) like she had no idea how sick I've been and like I'm intentionally trying to diet / lose weight. And I felt very frustrated when I left my last appointment. But I guess whatever?
GTKY: What is your favorite book?
I just finished White Fragility, omg so eye opening, so good. 10/10 highly recommend for everyone!! I have a long list of books to read and I've been picking a few up to read over maternity leave. I don't know that I have a favorite, I love reading. Currently working on, Untamed.
Upcoming Appointments: Just had one today, next one is A/S on July 7th.
Rant/Rave: I went back to work today! Well, kind of. We are back this week working on our classrooms and the kids will start back next week. It’s nice to have this time to work in our rooms. We don’t usually have that luxury because we are open all summer and never have time like this where the kids are t there. Normally we’d have to come in on a Saturday or work on stuff at nap time or stay late. I have a TON of work to do in my room because my floors were redone and I had a lot of stuff out of my classroom and in a different room, and there is stuff just piled everywhere. I’m also taking this time to reorganize, since it’s already such a disaster. I’m a little stressed about the kids coming back next week, mainly because of the new protocols we have to follow.
GTKY: What is your favorite book? I don’t know. I’m so bad at picking “favorites” of anything. I like all the big fantasies like HP, LOTR, Song of Ice and Fire, and the Kingkiller Chronicles. One of my favorite books that I’ve ever read is Coraline. I feel like I just don’t have time to read anymore.
Upcoming Appointments: meeting with the midwife in two weeks
Rant/Rave: It appears that my bump is here, no question about it. I may have to cave and buy some clothes because nothing fits. If only stores were open. 😭
GTKY: What is your favorite book? Skinny Legs and All by Tom Robbins. I first read it when I was 13 and it blew my mind. I think it’s time to read it again.
@csardaszz maternity clothes shopping is bad enough, the pandemic is making it extra suck!! I keep ordering stuff online that doesn’t end up fitting. My in-store options are limited to Target and Kohl’s, and their selection was very piss-poor. Target used to have such a great maternity section and now they’ve squeezed it between the underwear and baby clothes on like one wall of hangers and everything is completely mixed up with no rhyme or reason. So frustrating!!
@kitkatz1990 I though this was just my little crappy Target that shrunk the maternity section! @csardaszz my favorite jeans and clothes are by Jessica Simpson. And I love the simple maternity t-shirts at Wal-Mart, they are like $5 and super soft and comfy.
Baby is the size of: a croissant today apparently.
Upcoming Appointments: women’s health PT Thursday, anatomy scan 6/24
Rant/Rave: A couple here... my county moved to phase 2 at the beginning of this week - hoping that people continue to be smart and we don’t slide backwards. Fingers crossed! Also, went on a hike in eastern WA last Saturday and loved getting outside. Baby bean made me out of breath pretty quickly with any inclines but overall it was great!
GTKY: What is your favorite book? I don’t know that I have a favorite. I’m a sucker for Nicholas Sparks books; I literally cry at every one. Lately I’ve been reading maternity/birth books and childhood development books (for work). The Whole Brain Child is quite possibly the best development book I’ve actually enjoyed reading

Upcoming Appointments: Regular OB appointment on the 17th and AS on the 26th!
Rant/Rave: We got a puppy in March and he's mostly a good boy, but he bit off the heads of all my flowers in my planters! Then last week I caught him digging up my one planter... With all four feet in it!!!! We bought new flowers last week and on the weekend DH put up a cattle fence around the flowers on the front lawn. Looks a little redneck, but puppy isn't getting my flowers now!!! 😂
GTKY: What is your favorite book? Last year I read the Pillars of the Earth trilogy by Ken Follet and loved it!!!! It's follows several families from Russia, Wales, England and the US over the last century... So good!!
Rant/Rave: We finally decided to make our Facebook announcement next Tuesday. It’s our 8 year wedding anniversary! We are still trying to decide what to do with the gender announcement. If we go the cameo route it will be ASAP after the AS. If we go with the smoke in a bbq pit it will be July 11th at a BBQ competition. I can’t wait!
GTKY: What is your favorite book? I guess HP series, but sadly I don’t read for pleasure anymore. I used to read a lot when I was younger, then it became only for school assignments. After I graduated I told myself I can’t read anything for pleasure until after I finish my CPA exam... like 8 years later I still plan to take and pass all parts of the exam. I was half way there when I got pregnant with DD and totally got distracted . I just need to dedicate a year to getting it done with no life.
Upcoming Appointments: AS scan this Friday the 12th with the high risk OB, it'll be my first appointment with her and she'll tell me how frequently she needs to see me. Then I'll be seeing both her and my midwife. I was surprised they would do the AS scan at 18 weeks, I thought it had to be after 20 weeks. Anyone have one before 20 weeks?
Rant/Rave: Rave- DH deserves a medal as I've been so sick lately and just in a bad mood. He's doing so much more around the house and for our kiddos ontop of working long hours. Rant - still nauseous, vomiting, getting light headed, and overall feeling like crap. I feel bad for my kiddos because I'm not as fun as I used to be.
GTKY: What is your favorite book? This is hard, I have a lot of books that I love. To name a few Rosemund Pilcher's Coming Home, The Count of Monte Cristo, Harry Potter series, Game of Thrones series, Phillipa Gregory's The Other Boleyn Girl and ARA Trade, and Rebecca.
@Ecat504 that's annoying that your OB didn't take you seriously at previous appointments. Not related to pregnancy but I've had a doctor not realize how serious something was. I actually worked on how I described what was going on with my husband to make it clear to the specialist I went to see. The specialist took me seriously and I stopped going to that other doctor. I think it's a common problem that women don't get taken as seriously regarding medical concerns and it sucks.
Upcoming Appointments: AS next Monday then regular appt. the week after. Still waiting for husbands genetic carrier testing results, hopefully they will be in by next week!
Rant/Rave: @csardaszz I am having the same problem! Have you looked into local consignment shops? I found a few items in the smaller shops.
GTKY: What is your favorite book? I love reading and can't pick just ONE! I love H.P., ASOIAF (Game of Thrones), Jurassic Park, LOTR, Pride and Prejudice, everything! I am not too picky when it comes to books, I can't do romance....my sisters tried. I recently finished an audiobook about George Washington, very good!
@kitkatz1990 Have you read The Wheel of Time series? I highly recommend, it's kinda long (13 books) but worth it!
@kelk5 From what I've read an AS is normal between 18-22 weeks.
Rant/Rave: DS (15 months) has been a little tornado of destruction this week. I feel like all I've done is literally chase him around from one disaster to the next. If he's just made a big mess and not broken anything, it's a good day. He can be really cute and charming, but I have to say that this stage is feeling like quite a challenge. He's not old enough to really mind or obey, but capable enough to get into tons of trouble and not being able to focus on any one thing for long. We're going on a long trip out West to see my family in a month or so, and I'm getting increasingly nervous about it. If he's destroying my house, that has tons of toys and most really bad things already out of reach, what kind of destruction will he bring to my poor, unsuspecting relatives? And spending the entire time chasing him around instead of visiting...ugh. It's been a tough week.
GTKY: What is your favorite book? I'm a librarian by training, so with the job title comes a love for almost everything! Though, at my heart, I'm a fantasy lover. @mwagensomer and @kitkatz90, I think I pretty much have the same tastes, too! All the big fantasy titles and Jane Austen! I'll throw out a plug for a few other favorite authors: Juliet Marillier, Naomi Novik, Brandon Sanderson, and V.E. Schwab have a ton of great fantasy stuff, too!
@auburnvelvet86 I know exactly how you feel. I’m living with a little tornado myself. I keep begging DH to add more child proofing to the cabinets. So far we only have them on the cabinets under the sink with all the cleaners, everything else is free game to the 15 month old. I can’t sit down! She is getting fast!!! 💨💨💨
