This is not anti-mask in any way, but is anyone else struggling with them while pregnant? I am finding I get out of breath easier these days anyway, and paired with a mask it is so hard for me to catch my breath again. I carried my toddler up the stairs to his pediatrician the other day and almost passed out! Maybe I’m wearing the wrong kind? My MIL made some for us so that’s what I’ve been wearing.
@baseballismyfavoriteseason I've been walking from the basement to the 2nd floor of the hospital in a mask 5-10x a day at work this week, and definitely have to take a second at the top to catch my breath. Nothing close to passing out! I'm just wearing a paper surgical mask though.
@baseballismyfavoriteseason I've never had to wear a mask while also carrying my child, I think that would be rough! I have heard that the disposable surgical masks are easier to breathe in than the cloth ones, but I've only worn cloth ones that my mom made.
I don't enjoy wearing a mask, but agree with @coldbrew that I think they should be required. I don't wear a mask when I go on my daily walk in the neighborhood, but I do on the rare occasions I go to pick up food orders (and for my OB appointments).
I am definitely pro-mask, but I do hate wearing them! I have a weird phobia about breathing. I remember laying in bed as a child and breathing in facing one way, turning my head and breathing out the other way, and back and forth. I've never smoked anything for similar reasons, or even inhaled helium from a balloon. I can't sleep with anything covering my face and especially not nose or mouth.
I hate them, but I will be wearing them anytime I go out until a vaccine or something is widespread.
I have to wear a mask for my job and I do feel annoyed by it many times, but it’s worth it. I dip into the supply closet or wherever to remove it just to breathe fresh air when I need to haha.
I’m pro-mask too and am wearing one until there’s a vaccine! But yes, it has been harder to breathe in them. And it’s been SO HOT here the past few days and when I’ve gone out I have to walk slower to breathe through the mask!
Since being back at work I have to keep a mask on for the entirety of my 8-hour shifts. I have only been taking them off to eat during my lunch break. The first few days back were really hard, but I have gotten used to it. I sometimes have to do training and talking a lot while wearing the mask definitely has me catching my breath. Luckily, I don't have stairs to worry about but moving tables and boxes around have been a challenge for sure.
We are requiring customers to wear masks when they come in and for the most part people have them on already. There have been a few instances where people have gotten upset and I just want to scream at them that I don't like it either, but it's how we keep eachother safe and I'm pregnant! I've had to wear one for 40 hours a week for the past 3 weeks and I've survived. You'll survive wearing one for ~15 min while choosing cards I'm sure. I also can't handle how many people wear them wrong or just pull them down to talk, that's not how it works and quite frankly you look like a fool. I've definitely noticed as the restrictions in my state are being lifted, people seem to be getting more annoyed with the policy. A lady called one of my coworkers a bitch for telling her the policy and offering her a mask to wear while she shopped. It's been wild.
I just wish people could calm down about it. If you don't want to wear a mask then you can shop online or do curbside pick-up or find another place to shop entirely. Might I suggest Walmart? It's really no big deal and I am honestly not going to give a damn if you yell at me and say you're never shopping here again. Fantastic. I'd rather you not be anywhere near me or my team so good riddance.
